  • This is a very simple process. 5 stops from 40 down to 10, followed by 5 stops 35 to 5, all in rappid sucession.

    So you are saying you need to live in the middle of Kansas where there is no traffic to do the break in procedure for these breaks. I bought these about a year ago have have never installed them because there isn't a place within 50 miles to do this procedure without causing an accident.

      I don’t get how your supposed to properly break these in when you live in a big city either

      I used an empty loading area behind my local big box store went back and forth down the lane doing the 5 stops each then drove away worked perfect

      When you go to the dealer, the dealer guy does it for you before giving the car back 💡

    Just put these on my f350 and the only thing the shop told me was that I need to put about 500 on the truck for break in for the brakes. Drove it around from the shop braking and stopping. When I got home I could smell the brakes and they were hot to hot to touch hot. So when I park my truck I always put the parking brake on now wondering if they were to hot to do that from the brake end.

      @@dsa420meh7 they’re equal or better than OEM as far as brake pedal feel but there is definitely a lot less brake dust which again was my main reason for changing the brakes I was tired of cleaning my wheels after every time I drove the car

    What will happen if the mechanic didnt follow these instructions? Just went out and ran a few 35 to 0 and kept driving a few more miles? Are these brakes now ruined?

    • @SEsGarage
      @SEsGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This isn’t 100% necessary. The brakes will “bed in” on their own with normal driving. This just accelerates the process

    can you tell diff in braking?

  • @djlcruze
    @djlcruze 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you tell me about the approximate distance it took to do the break-in procedure, not counting the cool down period? One mile, two miles, three miles?? How about the total distance with cool down period?
    Thanks.

    • @SEsGarage
      @SEsGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There really is no "distance" requirements. I took the car down to a long road with no stop lights and did it there. Maybe a half mile or so for the actually stopping, then a 5 or so mile drive home to cool them

    • @djlcruze
      @djlcruze 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@SEsGarage Thanks! The reason I asked is because there are a lot of people that don't have access to "a long road with no stop lights" because they live in big cities that are crowded. When these brakes are installed, the break in procedure needs to be done right away for optimum best results. I wanted to know about how much road that is going to take because I am going to get these installed on my 4x4 truck soon and can't drive 50 miles away to a long road with no stop lights to do it. It looks like I will wait until late at night and go out to the highway and go for it and hope I don't get busted by a cop.

      @mybro727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@djlcruze That’s great. Yes, when I got off work yesterday I waited until right before dark and took a back road and tried my best to complete the 10 decelerations without interfering with traffic too much and then drove around for about 5-10 mins to give them time to cool. They feel better than the stock ones I replaced for sure!

    • @SEsGarage

      The idea is to transfer a small layer of pad onto the rotor surface, and they need to be heat cycled for that to happen

    • @raczyk
      @raczyk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SEsGarage Won't that small layer of pad on the rotors surface be rubbed off with regular driving and brake usage? Does one need to periodically do the brake in procedure?
