Ron's bass playing was amazing...he could play those riffs and fills right along with Tommy. I always really appreciated a bassist that could do that...and without a pick. It's nice to read comments about Coroner so many years after the fact. I discovered them via Mtv back in the late 1980s and was hooked right away. I remember just wanting everyone to know how good they were then...and being frustrated feeling like I was the only person that knew how good they were. Nothing could be found in the states about them...we didn't have internet or youtube...nothing. The comments people make today are the same comments I made back in the 1980s but I couldn't find anyone to agree with me then. Glad to see I wasn't full of shit then.
I had all their tapes back in the early 90s. Both Strawberries & the record club I signed up for stocked them. I bought Mental Vortex (still my favorite) the day it came out. You’re not alone in recognizing their genius in both song-writing & playing.
Haha you were onto something back then. These guys are one of my favourites, unfortunately I was born in the mid 90s so I missed the fun when it happened. Even the very few metal friends I have met have generally been unfamiliar with Coroner. One of the great marketing letdowns of all time, these guys should've been a lot bigger IMO!
@@CynicalSphere Since your post was months ago you may already know this, but they might have a new album out this year. From the live footage I've seen from the last few years they still kill it.
I still own the physical version and keep it like a treasure. It was a gift from my (now deceased) guitar teacher. A Swedish man living in Switzerland and Coroner was his favorite thrash metal band. A very demanding yet very nice teacher. Very kind man. Every birthday or just before Christmas he always offered me several albums with the tab books for each of them. It was one of the last lessons when he offered me the VHS of this live, and asked me to learn by ear. Since it was 2011 I had to find an old thing to play the VHS (don't know how it's called in English). I played it non-stop in my room, trying to replicate the riffs for weeks. The best exercise of all, and now this is my favorite live album ever... thank you so much Viktor! You were the best guitar teacher ever and a true friend! May you rest in peace 🤘😌
I cant get enough of this! Listen it again and again, like 30 times in 3 days. Fantastic music, and they were only trio. All of them true masters of their instrumets!
I love how clear the bass comes through when Tommy is soloing. As much as I adore the production of their studio material, I wish one of their studio releases could've sounded like this.
I was very late to Coroner in 2002 but I immediately got into them. They're way up there in terms of musicianship and creativity. At least for me. This footage is proof as to how badass they are. Thanks for this upload. Priceless.
I developed a 3 finger technique for bass on my own. Everyone thought it was weird. Then again I skated goofy. Point is, I saw Ron play and knew i was actually doing the right thing. Usually, when someone has already taken your idea, its a problem -but- I was relieved to see Ron do it with success because I was not sure of what I was doing and thought the way I was playing the bass was incorrect. Ron definitely inspired me to use 3 fingers and articulate as best I could. I used this flavor somewhat successfully in a stoner metal band from Virginia in early 2010s called "Levee" throwing Ron-esque licks in the pot with the Geezer fare. I always appreciated the classical flavor of Coroner's licks and it makes me nostalgic for playing Bach chorales on brass horns in American high school. Damn what a great band.
So glad they are still touring (granted without Marky) but regardless, this band is one of those gems of the 80s and 90s that makes you glad you found them and can appreciate them. One of the best technical thrash bands -ever.
@@svobodasimon1185 it took me a long time to get used to the vocals, but the guitar playing was so good it grew on me eventually. However I must admit besides rust in peace and a few other songs I’m not crazy about the rest of their discography
CORONER and Atheist really gelled the technical thrash/death sound with some tiny prog tossed in! I still have my high school yearbook photos with my Corner Punishment for Decadence shirt on and a hella scoul on my face lol. I believe it was 9th or 10th grade or so lol.
first solo is so good and they start filming the guitarist when the solo is finished...I just dont get it...we want to se the shredding!! what a great concert!!
Ron Broder is so underrated.. Great bass player... The funny story is that Ron comments that the bass he had at that time was bad. How about having a good one? Personally I love that bass and its sound.
97warlock ismyname yeah that sound and style for sure influenced metal bands and which later were called technical death metal like Carcass but also cannibal corpse in staring through the eyes of the dead

All while doing VOKILLS that have rhythms of their own! Real skills to play those technical songs while singing 🤯🤘
@@NinjaRunningWild daaaang, them days of the old record/album clubs! Almost forgot how much music I got from em lol

One of the best metal performances ever recorded on film.
Tight af and you don't miss the rhythm guitar with Roy's bass playing.

Such a nice story. That's an individual approach at its finest. Where do you come from, if it's not a secret?
Maybe the most underrated band ever, they deserved to be huge back in the day their discography is flawless
The guitarist's shirt, "Batman Sucks." 🤣🤣. Thanks for uploading
Super tight technical thrash brilliance. Coroner are fantastic.
Yesssssssss 🤘

I'm mad at myself for not listening to this earlier. Awesome concert
One of my favorite bands of all time!!Tommy is really a great guitarist!!!
Where would live metal recordings be without this one.
The best guitar playing I have seen in my life.
Missed them back in the day... underrated metal trio for sure...

Маємо надію, що колись завітають в Україну 🤞
The way they transition from shadow of a lost dream to die by my hand is flawless
Name a more talented metal trio than this...I dare you...I triple dare you!!!
Dying Fetus =)
Luvenhart Grrreat one...really is but I side with Coroner. No losers here!

No more color was my introduction to extreme metal back in 1990. Still one of my favs, next to Mental Vortex.
Absolutely brilliant band. There isn’t a 4 or 5 piece group that can hold a candle to Coroner.
They are th”rush”
Genius comment
Bravo
Talento puro

better than Risk, not better than Rust in peace.
concerteza, Coroner muito mais foda

Rush of Thrash!
So fucking underrated
zov!!!🥰🤩😘😍
This faken superior to recorded stuff unbelievable these guys
being overly technically thrashy could turn you bald.
I would love to know which venue they play here
Camera man should be shot. When Tommy is shredding you zoom in on the fretboard. Nothing else matters.
probably because the audio is overdubbed
what is the name of this guitar hero he plays too well and has a unique tone
Tommy Vetterli.
