Love this format where you guys "interupt" to talk about tactics and thoughts. Keeps me so interested and excited.
Same! Even on non competitive game, if you can do it without the game becoming way too long (one hour and a half is perfect) it's a really cool thing and a good way to learn!
100% agree. The command zone channel does the same thing and it was pivotal to me learning how to play the game better cuz they talked about their plan and the eventual outcome of how that plan went.

I've not played 40k in years (4th edition) and have recently begun watching different battle reports on TH-cam while at work (shame) and I must say, your format and commentary is superior to all the other channels I've seen. Extremely well done.
I agree, the editing is one thing I love most as opposed to other channels live format that frequently makes the episodes drag.

Really like how detailed this was, the special effects and commentary added a lot to understanding why I have issues with my necrons

That was a nailbiter to be sure. Lawrence played skillfully, but luck was a big factor here. Liked the intercut commentary here too.

I love these battlereports, they're damn well made and enjoable, especially the overall chill attitude and the tactical reasoning as it goes. Two comments though; having the last turn often curtailed...is maddening. It's like someone narrating the end of a book instead of reading it. Also the visual transitions are full of fast flashing lights with no warning, which does make this a challenge.
That Flesh Tearers stratagem consolidate move was the move of ages. Incredible play.
Quick one for Spider, you only strike last if you are in engagement range of Szarekh at the start of the fight phase so just charge the Menhir and stay away from Szarekh and you don't get strike last. The more you know.

Question on this as a newer player; if the Menhir was within 1/2 an inch of Szarekh, he would still hit you with fight last because he’d be considered within engagement range, yes?
Also, would you be able to charge the Menhir, pile into Szarekh after the fight phase has started, and then attack Szarekh directly? All while avoiding the fight last?
@@MrSpeedy29 it's all based on individual models so being in engagement range (1/2") of the Menhir does not trigger the fight last as it specifically said Szarekh. Szarekh and the Menhir are a unit so attacks are allocated as such, even after pile-ins the fight last won't trigger because that hits at the start of the fight phase before any models move.
@@Cptvrage07wins Got it, thank you for explaining it! Sounds like this is a strong tactic to make the Silent King a lot less scary; with a bit of luck, Seth could have killed him in 1 phase!

Like the tactics discussion during so I stop yelling what are u thinking at my phone. Love Chef saying things just to annoy the watchers. Only flaw with this episode is spider not saying blaster. If ur in the episode it should be required at least 3 times

This has to be the best form of batrep. You guys are sharp on the rules, one of the most important things for me, entaining wise. No weird things are being played and no important rules forgotten to me.

Love all about the overlays, except the one transition with the distortion effect and the light flashes.
I sit very close to the monitor to see the action and cool models and then get a slap in the eyes from that one transition :)
Later-round games which determine the overall winner of the league are going to be the very soul of momentous.
This one - a first-rounder which could very well be insignificant to the top placings - was quite grand in itself.

Awesome game! Loved the little pit stops that gives the audience a little insight into what the player was trying tactically or the thought process of their decision! Super good way to mix competitive thinking into a fun game! Keep this format up! BIG FAN! Also love those mad looking jumpack wings on the Death company!

Great match, my plows through me with his necrons and he plays all the big guys in our 2000 point matches. Reanimating dragon dude three wounds psychic, shooting, combat to kill!
That was awesome. Don't get me wrong, we all love Tempest but at some point watching James draw a full hand of worthless cards isn't as funny as it was the first 8 times. There's also the fact that if the staff of Tabletop Tactics were ad mech explorators they would have been lobotomized and repurposed as servitors as, if memory serves, they've collectively investigated 0 sites. So it's nice to see two armies collectively purposed to specific objectives. I also like the format as it tries to be as competitive as possible with a limited model collection. I think that better reflects the community at large. Thanks for all the hard work, folks. And yes, I'm still going to chuckle when James draws investigate sites, deploy teleport Homer's and a tempting target for the 27th time. Special congrats to Chef overcoming his cp reroll prejudice!

Awesome report guys, loving the new league rules.
Lychguard charge was a 10, not 11, because you get 2" Engagement range if either you or your opponent are within 1" of the Obscuring terrain. So, if you can move within 1" of the ruin with a 10" charge and get within 2" of Sanguinary guard, you can fight.
But that doesn't really matter, since they didn't roll high enough anyway.
So hard fought won! It was really really close, I loved it~

Loved the battle, great to see people have to pick an army they want to learn, do well with and explore possibilities, as thats what I am hoping to do when I finally get my force board ready. Also great to see it staying friendly and having fun moments whilst also being competitive and playing for the win.
bit late to the party, but death from above actually activates for any unit that comes in from reserves - that includes strategic. SO if you ever wish to, the centurions can do some work if you pay the CP(s) for them for SR.

Idea for next League - A DRAFT. each player (based on finishing position this league - wooden spoon gets first pick, champion gets last pick) picks an army in order. I player could then create drama by picking an army that another player may want to use. This could also bring rules of podium finishing armies can not be selected for the next league, "trades and deals".

Would you ever change from Purge the Vermin to Code of Combat? Or have you found that how quickly you can push keeps them in one or two quarters? I’ve never been able to pull off Purge the Vermin.
Possibly, though with only the King I'm not sure if it's super reliable. With a Barge Lord as well, for sure
I find Tempest of War unfortunately unwatchable so finally so hype to see actual Nephilim content. TH-cam has been plagued by non Nephilim content lately and really psyched to see it from such a high production value studio.
