CATCHING BASS ON SURFACE LURES IN WINTER | LURE FISHING FOR BASS

- In this video, I decided to go on a last minute bass session and try out a new rod I bought recently. I'd start by fishing a mark I've fished many times before, although this time I'd be fishing a different part of the tide.
Things started a little slowly but as the tide flooded through, a few fish decided to show up. This video is all about bass and catching them on surface lures in the depths of winter. Thanks for watching and see you on the next one 🎣

Been watching ages. Love the content 👍 big up cal 🎣
Hello Cal
I am an anglet from Romania and I follow You and your video in order to teach and understand the Sea Bass fishing. Untul now I have 3 sesions of Bass fishing in Mediteranean Sea. Maybe You can listen from my experience.
I also have this Shimano Tehnium rod 8.4 lenght , power from 24 to 84g.
But what I observe ia that it is too stiff for Bass fishing. Thats why the small bass are not hooked well. Bass are fosh with smouth mouth.
I fish this rod in summer in Greece with top water lure and it was perfect.
Now for Bass fishing I use Shimano Dialuna S96ML, mode permisive rod.
Maybe this spring I came in England for Fishing.
Good luck and keep going. 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thank Cal, great video.
Well done Cal managed to winkle out a few so a big well done. They weren't massive but very good fun and perfect little specimens 😊
Love your channel, literally just started lure fishing for bass at 43 in the UK and live your channel. Thanks for the advice mate

Catching bass in January, you lucky man.great content again
super hunt congratulations👏👏👏
Great video my friend, I feel that I have learned from it so thank you for posting it. I would like to ask a question and if someone could answer it I would be thankful - I know that Pachinko lures are top quality but what are people's opinions on the cheaper Pachinko "copies" for those who like me who are on a tight budget? Any thoughts and opinions are most welcome!
@@petebony3093 Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
Yes, the cheaper copies of the patchinko work very well. Generally the hooks on them won’t be that great but overall they’re a very good alternative to the original.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL Many thanks Cal, keep the videos coming!
Love the videos
Nice work Cal. Been looking for a Shimano Technium 8ft 4' 21-54g but can't seem to locate one anywhere. Where did you purchase yours from? loving your videos🐟🐟
Thanks mate. I got mine locally from our tackle shop. I’m sure you’ll find one online somewhere.
Fished that channel in the kayak a few days ago and it was packed with small Garfish
I had a session where the bass were reluctant to take, lots of swirls and splashes but no takes. I found that if I retrieved quickly, stupidly fast the fish took hard and I got a number of fish.
Jersey boy first to comment! Loving your vids
Love your vids.need help whats best braid to use on a 4000 bass reel.theres so many . Jusr srarted
Hi mate. There are so many good braids out there it’s difficult to say. Currently I’m using 20lb braid made by Samson fishing but it’s not available on the market at the moment. Previously I was using 26lb Daiwa J Braid which I really liked. On a 4000 size reel you could use anything from 15lb - 30lb really. Ideally you’d want something 0.20mm and under. Shimano actually make some good braid in 20lb which is cheaper too. Best thing to do would be to head to your local tackle shop and ask them. Hope that helps a little. Cheers
Wow……awesome stuff Cal. I’m not jealous one bit. 😡🤬😡😡😡😡😡😡👍🐟🐟. (So not fair)
What weight are the surface lures that you use? I find them difficult to cast with my cobalt 20-50g rod. I think my lures are 20 odd grams
The Patchinko 140 is 28g. I was casting a 125 also, which weighs about 18g and was casting it with no problems.
Thanks
is it easy to get to from england? like do they do day trips? would love to have a try over there
There’s a boat from England yeah. It’s easy to get over as long as the weather plays ball.
Your not even on the bass 😂 bloody lovely video bud 😊top dangling
A stiff rod is probably why you found those first 2 fish come off the hooks. No give in the rod which causes the hook holes to open up with thin treble hooks but great for setting large single hooks though. Enjoyed the video.
Wish I could have the patience to carry on with lures. The draw of bait always wins for me. Had over a 100 bass last year but all on bait.
No problem with that mate. If that’s what you’re into then that’s completely fair enough. I fish lures for ease more than anything. I love bait fishing for bass too, along with any other species. If you’re on em’ you’re on em’ so no difference 🎣
