Catherine Wheel were such a great band and so criminally underrated...

A big amen! I wondered why they never caught on as they should have.

Agree. Saw them live 3 times in '94 - '97, one of the best bands ever, and I met Rob once, briefly at the bar after the show; he was super cool.

How come this wasn't a massive hit? Record companies you should be ashamed of yourselves.

It was in MY life. I was a full-grown Man when these guys broke stateside. I was at one of those regional festivals in NorCal in summer 95, The two British bands on their first big America tour was Catherine Wheel, and Bush. Both bands first big American exposure. CW played 3rd, Bush played undercarriage for the "Big Name" band who was on lineup Duran Duran. That show was fn wild, brö.
The first opening act was "Wicked Game" era Chris Izaac. 😅😂😂😂🎉

Still one of the best club shows I ever saw. Right in there with Foo Fighters, Green Day, PJ Harvey, Adorable, Hoodoo Gurus, An Emotional Fish, X, The Cramps, The Untouchables, The Blasters and Blur. Plus a few more I have a vague recollection of seeing, Throwing Muses, Afghan Whigs, Course Of Empire, Machines Of Loving Grace, KMFDM, Eve's Plum, Bo Diddly, Material Issue.

This has way better sound quality through my BOSE headphones than all the other delicious TH-cam uploads .... I remember Catherine Wheel live was the best true to release bands ..... This was mostly digital layers too , it just makes sense ... They were that good

Was lucky that Toronto music people knew this band was great and played them very often. Toronto altrock station CFNY to be commended for that. Such a pity this band did not go huge as they deserved. Oh well, they got more attention and play than many other deserving bands so there is that I suppose.

As much as this has a special place as the song that introduced me to these guysit doesn make it into my top four favourite song from the album. Those are "Broken Nose", "Ma Solituda", "For Dreaming" and "Here Comes The Fat Controller".

    • @TheEggplantThatAteChicago

The most original band of the 1990s. And they didn't sing songs whining and complaining about life like all 90s bands.

Who are the "Adam and Eve" actors in the video? They are quite familiar looking. (I think they would be around the same age as me now. Gulp, this was 25 years ago...)
This definitely got some traction on Evening Session / TFI Friday back in the day. It's good to hear it again... :)

Yeah the first two albums really had such top tier level of magic to them. Once happy days came it was pretty clear that sound was gone, but I still liked the rest of their stuff anyways even if not as much.
