Oh wow... I had totally forgotten about this song, but I can clearly recall watching this video (and singing along) in the MuchMusic countdown, back in the day. Good memories from the 90's.
Saw these guys at the first Endfest outside Seattle in '92. Beastie Boys headlined, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Bush and many more. Korn played the side stage. We slept in the car. Memories.
I remember hating this album the first time I heard it, but the sound just stuck in my head so I had to have another listen and now every time I put CW on, I have to listen to their entire discography.
All of this goes to show that if you’re unfortunate enough to be in a plane crash, it’s best to have a seat next to Rob Dickinson, as he’s keeping a cool head while everyone else is in complete panic mode.
And he can text his cousin Bruce, who is a licensed pilot (and who is also a singer in a band named after a medieval torture device), for advice on landing the plane
He seemed to almost be playing the role of the grim reaper on the plane with those sinister smiles and expressions. He seemed a little too cool headed.
A band I had forgot about of recent. I did see them at the University of London union in back 1996 or maybe 97, good night that was. I think this band had some connection with Iron Maiden, band member relative to Bruce Dickinson I think.
I had this on my TH-cam playlist and it got deleted and it ticks me off cuz I can never remember Catherine wheel and have to go thru 10 mins of searching to find it again. Go ahead, search way down.
I remember catching this first time with a hottie higher than a kite on that good 90$ pot. Then I went way down. Frankly I was young and huge and expansive.
And yet, their next album - Adam & Eve - was transcendently brilliant. One of the very best albums of the 90's. Guess you never had a bad day, or learned to suppress your petulant Millennial snark reflex long enough to develop much of an attention span.
This was after they ditched the shoegaze (the thing they did best and what made them a truly great band) for middling grunge ala bush........sad really.....

This was my first exposure to Catherine Wheel. I dove into their catalog because of this song here in the states. They were a really good band.
