    This is why I love knives. I'd never buy that or even carry it if I was given it for free, yet it is an inherently awesome object and for some, the perfect knife.

    Looks like a good alternative to the bugout.
    On a more serious note, the price difference between all the cpm steels is not really that much. Most of the cost is in the process rather that the raw material.

    Well… that’s different. 😮 Love how there are so many variations, options, and unique aesthetics to choose from. This is unique but not one for my collection. But it is new and cool stuff like this that becomes the muse for new knife designs to the knife community fresh. LOL.

    I love mine, great cutting geometry for the size, also there's a very limited usa version(serials out of 20) but you gotta hit them up on the USA instagram

    The Pin is there due to german law. It is not considered foldable anymore once its bolted. There are even versions of Midgars knives where you can put a small padlock trough the blade to "unready" the knife...

    How can you flip it open like that?!! The detent ball on the lock on mine makes it impossible to flip open like that.

  • @pete6705
    @pete6705 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought this but sent it back. I could not open it with 1 hand, it was really stuck hard in the shut position, I needed two hands and most of my strength to open it. Not sure if there was a way to fix that. But that wasn’t the only reason I returned it

    I would like to see these giant knives with the pins to have a spot in the bottom to screw it into for safekeeping/transport.

      Yep. It could even double as the lanyard hole for the four people who like them, and get two birds.

    I’m disappointed that these knives are made in China and I’m disappointed that Midgards Messer isn’t fully transparent about their knives’ origin. I just looked at their website and couldn’t find where the knives are made. Maybe it’s there but it sure isn’t obvious. Points off for Midgards Messer.

    • @landontreinen3062
      @landontreinen3062 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean, where else would you have them made? I’m with you on the OEM transparency, that’s super annoying. But where should they be made if not in China, just curious? I don’t believe the designer is American, and I don’t believe he’s a knife maker (I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’m right) so I’m just wondering where you think they should have had the knives made, and which OEM they should have used?

    • @landontreinen3062
      @landontreinen3062 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never mind, I replied before I watched the whole video. He literally says the designer and company is based in Germany and the OEM is Kansept. You obviously either weren’t paying attention or didn’t bother making it further than 10 minutes into the video. There aren’t any OEM’s in Germany or USA that would have made these knives for Midgards Messer. At least not at a price point that would have made sense for their brand. It’s easy to stand on the outside and make judgements but you have no idea what goes into designing a knife and having an OEM manufacture them for you. I’m disappointed you didn’t watch the whole video and reduce the value of a product down to its country of origin.

    • @markp4401
      @markp4401 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@landontreinen3062 I don’t buy knives made in China for the reasons Greg Medford and Super Steel Steve have articulated. I bought two Midgard Messers thinking they were made in Germany. That mistake is on me. You should never assume anything. I had never seen or heard that Midgard Messers are made in China before MC’s video. I don’t vilify folks for buying Chinese knives or companies for using Chinese OEMs. It just isn’t my jam. I was hoping to get German workmanship.

    • @landontreinen3062
      @landontreinen3062 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markp4401 you’re right, I shouldn’t have assumed. I don’t really have any respect for Mr. Medford’s opinions either. And you shouldn’t have assumed their knives were made in Germany if Chinese manufacturing is such a deal breaker.

      @@landontreinen3062 here in the USA would be nice i mean there is only 200 of these or at a minimum Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea at least they take some pride in their build quality unlike Commie china were they Just care about profits once they surpass the United States its all over I'm sure you know china owns 80% of all pork farms in the United States and alot of other mass meat production farms on our soil I'm sure you probably don't know that China is wanting some of the debt we owe them and guess how the US government is paying then we'll they are going on to government "owned" land which in its self is unconstitutional the government has no right to own land look it up but any way to pay off the debt the US government is going in and taking the top 3'-4' (feet) of top soil on thousands of acres and shipping it back to commie china main land yeah it sounds crazy but it's happening most people don't know shit about crops or growing anything for that matter but you have to do what's called Crop rotation helps return nutrients to the soil without synthetic inputs The practice also works to interrupt pest and disease cycles, improve soil health by increasing biomass from different crops' root structures, and increase biodiversity on the farm so china has basically ruined their soil so now they are having our good soil shipped to them this shit is not ok
