    Option #1: Dismantle the knife perfectly. Option #2: Dismantle the knife incorrectly. And Option #3: Don't dismantle the knife at all (by far the best option of all time).

    Heh, I thought the hand injury was from that small dangerous front flipper. Didn't realise this one really got you MC. I've been tempted with this one for a while, but as a blind guy, now you've made me pretty confident that if I get it, I'm never taking it apart without wrapping the blade in 200 feet of masking tape.

  • @rickyhurtt5568

    Lamella; like skin, is a thin layer, membrane, or plate of tissue, especially in bone.

    when disassembling the knife with blade deployed consider slipping a length of clear plastic tubing that has been slit open... it will act as a guard...just slip it over the sharp edge and secure it with a quick single wrap of painter's tape.... as they say, "safety first"

    Amazingly, knife makers have figured out how to safely handle sharpened blades while fitting other pieces, as it SOMETIMES, very RARELY comes up.
    Tape the edge.
    Masking, flashing, packing, aluminum, whatever type of tape you like.
    You're welcome.

    If I'm taking apart a knife for the first time I always tape the blade. It'll prevent cuts. Yes it's a pain to untape and clean after but better than stitches.

    LOL! I'm missing a couple finger prints. And I feel dumb for it. It was never from trying to disassemble a folder, it was from trying to polish the stains out of a fixed blade or short sword.
    I've also caused lots of other people to cut themselves from sharpening their kitchen knives. Only time I hear, 'could you make it not so sharp next time?'

  • @seanf5760
    @seanf5760 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tbh if you want a safer way to assemble/ disassemble knives: masking tape the blade. Do a few lengths that you run along the cutting edge, then wrap around it for a few layers on top of that. Should still clear the handles pivot wise, but essentially deactivates the edge for you. Another option is one of those cardboard sleeves you get with some new fixed blade knives.
