Nope. Those are basic mods for the weapon. Bethesda is not nerfing it…yet. I may be wrong in the future though, but I’ve been able to get a 110% pen explosive submachine gun Before the legendary mod update happened and afterwards. Twice. I’m now on the search for medicine bobble heads so I can sell my medic’s legendary mods to the highest bidder. I’m on Xbox.
Q.E.-25A. I use this all the time. perforating capacitor and tank killer 3 is plenty of armor penetration Just mag dump that thing way more damage. Don't worry about charging that gun that's way to much down time.
@@Munenushi Im pretty sure he meant the fact that it takes about 2-3 seconds before firing when charging a shot, thats the "down time" he was talking about. Hence the, "mag dump/more damage" comment beforehand
If you don't like charging your weapon, then the hunting rifle is also a pretty good sniper after it gets buffed with the next patch (base damage increase: 70 -> 100). On PTS a bloodied prime version can achieve 600+ damage with buffs. This is mostly due to the "bug" that the prime receiver on the hunting rifle is still a multiplicative damage bonus, while on other weapons the weapon mod damage bonuses are only additively. As uncharged shots on the gauss rifle only do 50% damage, the hunting rifle is more powerful if you don't charge the gauss rifle. As the hunting rifle comes with perforating magazines you can also achieve 90% armor penetration if you want. On PTS the gauss rifle is also buffed as the base damage got slightly increased (140 -> 146).
How would instigating perform? I think sniper rifles you'd usually want instigating over any other to confirm a one shot kill. down side obviously would be in group play against already hurt targets you'd be dealing a lot less damage.
For regular mobbing and when you want to go one shotting than instigating is always the way to go. TH-camrs seem to sleep on instigating stil till this dayl. It's the best choice for one shotting.
Because instigating is going to be overkill for most mobs and bloodied or AA will be more helpful for boss level enemies where instigating isn’t going to be able to one-shot them regardless.
@@COLDFIRE_0284 that’s how it previously was; and it was only 10% damage. The most recent update changed it to require scoping in + not using vats. So for the Gauss Sniper, it should align perfectly

Before the legacy wipe I had a two shot explosive gauss rifle and I retired it to the display rack. Whenever I manage to get an explosive mod box I know where it is going.
I found instigating to work wonders too. Been using an instigating gauss for a long time now and can down west tek mutants in one shot and i'm not even bloodied.
Quad Exploding 15 Crit Charge, its my daily when i run a Gauss nowadays. with the prime receiver and tank killer in bloodied state its super good. tho my build is weird, i run level 2 of rifleman so i can have concentrated fire, tank killer, AND ground pounder because i run a Bloodied Last Shot Reload Black Powder Rifle, works really well.
@@RadioactiveSince1990x it 100% is viable, the damage of a uncharged shot up close is roughly 400 from the bullet then a extra 240 explosion damage alone. i see roughly 800 to 1000 damage rapid fire before crits.
Only thing is it doesn't matter, we can do enough damage on range builds as they are, we don't have enemies that require more damage or that can take advantage of this except maybe Earl and and the Colossus ones. This game has no need for extra damage yet. My flamer, range guns, rocket, machine gun literally any properly invested build is more than enough in the games current form. Still lots of fun, I'm not complaining, just saying this gun makes no difference.
Not sure what I'm missing but I have my bloodied weapon and build set up exactly the same and only show 390 damage? Are you showing damage including buffs?
How are you getting these damage numbers? I'm only getting 308 with aa explosive and the same perks. Super mutants at west tech are 2 hit unless vats to the face
Very nice. You can even use it as a tagging weapon for events. Now, Bethesda, do the same for all the other less used/popular rifles, pistols, and shotguns.
I forget if it’s the Gauss rifle or the black power rifle which has more range or vats range but being a crazy stealth vats sniper can be so satisfying especially with a BP rifle Instigating, vats hit chance and less action point cost
How does it compare to the plasma caster? I've never been a fan of charging weapons and typically I've found the caster to the the best "sniper" even though it isnt actually a sniper. (That might be changing with the tesla cannon though)
Hits harder if you charge it but shoots a lot slower if you're fully charging. Shoots faster but doesn't hit as hard if you don't charge it. Smaller clip size (5), faster reload. Doesn't produce as much ammo as a caster. Can be used in stealth and has the explosion effect for tagging. I use both a lot and would say caster is the better all around weapon but Gauss rifle is fantastic regardless and probably the best rifleman weapon in the game. You can go for a mix of charged and uncharged shots which completely change the way it feels. Quad gauss with uncharged shots that you just spam is the highest DPS rifleman weapon and has a surprisingly high ROF.
@@millsy800 Its a shame heavy guns generally do what rifleman rifles do but better honestly (especially with the tesla cannon incoming). I hope one day we'll just get an anti-material rifle of some sort with like 4-5k+ dmg per crit headshot
I don't doubt that it will be very powerful and also all the gauss weapons in general but I prefer to wait for the next patch to see if they fix this double explosive thing because that way I don't waste mods to apply.

Trust in turtle, he tests the shite out of everything. So AA and the perforating will be 90% (due to it being on the weapon) You are right that stabilised doesn’t add up to 95% that is because it’s a perk and is calculated differently. Bethesda math is weird.

So for example even though AA Elder's Mark would be able to achieve 110% armor penentration on paper with 50% from AA and 60% from the receiver, the armor penetration is still only 90% as this is the cap.
Currently armour penetrating mods for weapons stack additively with other anti armour effects, so anti armour (50%) stacks with perforating mag (40%) for a total of 90%. It's currently only armour penetrating mods that work that way, everything else is multiplicative.
The gauss shotty falls into the same category as all shottys...Garbo. The only decent one was the Cold Shoulder and they even Nerfed that so hard pass for this gauss one.

I doubt this gun will get a nerf because it is rather underperforming compared to other weapons. If anything it will catch a collateral nerf once beth decides that the explo gauss minigun performs to well with double explo

The only "nerf" it could get would be if beth one day decides that double exp isnt working as intended but that wouldnt be a nerf to the weapon itself but rather something in the sandbox which it interacts with. The Railway in comparison was just insane by itself therefore it got nerfed and it is still really strong and even the best rifle. I cant say much about the other stuff on the list because I wasnt even playing during the time they got nerfed however it should be clear what I mean.

they need to remove the " charging " problem - it wasn't a problem in fallout 4 because there ware a few enemies , but in F:76 there are waves of enemies on almost all events

if i may, there is no 'down time from charging', as you can move while charging a Gauss weapon; if that helps.

You didn’t mention using Guns & Bullets #7 which was buffed to 35% damage when using scoped weapons. That’ll take it over the top
So does GnB7 not require you to actually be aiming with the scope in order to buff the damage? I don’t know why but I always kind of assumed it did.

Is rapid firing it viable? Or 0:12 is the damage loss from not charging it too much?

double check your build and mutations something is missing
@AngryTurtle only mutation that would negatively affect it is grounded but it's mostly mitigated. It only brings energy weapon damage down by 13%

Unless it changed, iirc the Long Shot perk doesn't work with scopes. It only works with 'sights' (iron/glow/reflex)

depends how much 2mm you have stored if around 100k then mini, if not farm ammo with sniper first

Been using this double explosive gauss. Doing hundreds of explosive splash damage.
I believe gauss shotgun would top this after the coming buff.
With powerful shots the trade-off is slow fire rate (charging) and low ammo; sometimes slow reload. Seems balanced to me.

Did anyone figure why/ how were getting triple explosive effects on gauss rifle?
I have a Gauss rifle with 2× 15% explo and 1x 20% Explo, but it stops at 730 damage on Bloodied

I used to have an instigating, vats hit chance, lower ap cost , I used it in stealth. Sadly I got rid of it .
Instigating is great on this weapon.
I have an IE version and it does less damage than BE. I dont think instigating works because theres 2 damage entities :(

Dwmolition expert perk affects how much damage is shown in pip boy stats of this gun aswell, by quite a lot btw.

I’ve been using these for a long while. You don’t need anti-armor with tank killers.
I use a quad or vamp and one shot just as well.
i recentlý use a quad powder rifle.. ýou cant imagine the fun that i have 😄 ..ýou have to be patient
