Fun fact about that bathroom signs post. Fish was a term in the polari language that meant "to pass as a woman" and was frequently used to describe a drag queen's looks.
Icelandic uses gendered patronymics as surnames (which would translate to "X's-son" or "X's-daughter"). This is legally enforced. That legislation was expanded in 2019 so that NB folks can instead use an option that translates to "X's-child".
9:40 when my neighbor's daughter got divorced she told her two kids that they could change their names if they wanted, then got mad when they each picked a metal for their new first names (they were kind of young at the time I think). the implication I picked up was that they were supposed to pick between their mom and dad's last names instead, but that the mom didn't explain what she meant by "you can change your name".

17:09 for some time I referred to myself as non-binary, until I realized that my issue was gender roles, allowing my egg to crack fully as a trans woman. And yeah, spanish is too gendered. There is actually a push for a new linguistic gender for non-binary people, but people who don't understand language evolution refuse to accept it. It's disappointing, really. But yeah, most enbies prefer to be referred to with an e, or alternating between masc and femme terms in spanish.
