- This is a video that shows you multiple different gaming systems and emulators working on the Legion Go. I'm primarily using Emudeck here to demonstrate windows emulation on the Legion Go. It is a very long video so I'm putting time stamps for you guys. This took an extremely long time to make and probably for any future emulation videos I'll slim it down quite a bit. I have Lenovo go with emulation station and rpcs3. Unfortunately my beloved 2 game series is not working fine on this device: gran tourismo and uncharted 😢. I'll check uncharted on different rpcs3 settings - maybe 30 FPS will be achieved. But surely GT6 will not get it. Other games (even castlevania 2 which is rich on details) works fine 😊
If you’re having trouble running a game for PS3, check out the RPCS3 Wiki. There are suggested settings and game patches information. Emulation is never plug and play you have to figure out the best settings.
@@StewdioGamer gt6 even on strong processor and RTX3070 and best options set runs in between 17-30 FPS (desktop machine). I have a little Hope that uncharted will be playable afters different settings.

But how's the battery life when it comes to emulation?
It’s good until you get to Xbox 360, PS3, Switch. You have to run those at higher TDP so it’s pretty comparable to running current games. 2-2.5 hours unless it’s an easier to run game.

For DS, 3DS, and Switch emulation, is it possible to use the touchscreen for touch compatibility and/or configure the touchpad to be used as a cursor for those purposes? There are lots of games especially on DS and 3DS that make heavy use of touch controls as the main control scheme. On the original steam deck these games aren't really playable because of the low input response. I know it's supposedly better on the OLED but idk if it's enough to play games such as Kid Icarus Uprising, Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks, The World Ends with You, Pokemon Ranger, and Metroid Prime Hunters to name a few. Is the Legion Go any better in this regard?
One word though Shaders apply them on retroarch for a much well needed visual enhancement and or inter scaling
I didn’t do much with retroarch settings but I’ll look into this.
For Dreamcast, there's also ReDream and Demul. For PS1, RetroArch is harder to configure, but the graphics results are top notch, especially for racing games. There's a setting, or plugin, or something to add in that removes the texture pop-in in the roads for racing games. I'm waiting until last to get back into RetroArch but it's going to be necessary because lots of the older Arcade emulators like Nebula and Kawacks haven't been updated to run properly on Windows 11.
Regarding the stuttering when running from the memory sticks, there's 2 fixes for this. A faster memory stick, speed matters, and has been proven to matter since the days of emulators on the PSP system. You want the fastest read and write speeds possible. The second fix is not to run the games zipped, decompress them. It will take up more space, but it's easier for the emulators to run decompressed by default than it is for the emulator to try to decompress on the fly.
The stuttering has nothing to do with my card btw. There is a known issue that some of us are experiencing the microSD card stuttering. I haven’t tried the fix for it yet but supposedly it’s helped some.
@@StewdioGamer Specifically which games and emulators? Some games have shader caching issues which will constantly stutter unless pre-caching is turned on. Even then, some games still stutter after that, even on PC's way more powerful than the Legion Go.
There are many speed testing apps for memory sticks. Try that first. There are thousands of sellers of counterfeit memory sticks out there. They'll be marked with fast speeds but they're slow trash.
If you're running a game from a disc based system and the image is compressed, example, a PSP game with a CSO file extension, decompress it and run it again.
If the game is running from a zip file or similar compressed format, unzip it.
All of these things were tested and proven on handhelds able to run emulators since the PSP.
Probably a better investment than switch 2 😮

The thing that puts me off on the legion go is the fan noise the deck oled and the rog ally seem so much more quieter then this thing every time I see videos on it, it sounds like it’s taking off
It’s not as bad as it sounds in my video. That’s a combination of our heater, the fan on the sharge SSD, the legion go, and I turned the audio gain up. Audio issues will be resolved for future videos using a separate mic. Apologize for that.

Hi have you had trouble with the controller settings I'm having trouble getting the controllers right for the different emulators is there a guide somewhere that you recommend that worked for you
I typically will open the emulator and configure the controller manually there. Each emulator will be slightly different but this usually is the best route. I know Retro Game Corps has one for his channel for Steam Deck. A lot of that should cross over to most devices if you’re using those emulators. I’m not sure if it has anything specific to controllers though.

No unfortunately. These are started from a new game. Best way to play switch is still on a switch haha. Which is why I own both the OLED and switch lite.
How were you able to get this kind of performance in Breath of the Wild? (Presumably Wii U port?) I can't get 60, let alone make my Lenovo Go run it so cool. I have close to 80C (too dangerous imo)
Yes correct. In the video I was using v28 bios and set my vram to 6GB. I honestly don’t remember which driver but it was whichever was most updated at the time of the video. In Cemu it was set to Vulkan and also had the FPS++ graphic pack for Zelda that unlocks the 60 fps.
Rogue Squadron 2 has to be run in single core mode. It will crash when bringing up the aim computer if you don't.

the legion go puts out a lot of static noise that sounds like rain when you're playing using it
Can you test god of war 3 on rpcs3? It's one of the more demanding games that you can emulate
LOVED Killzone Liberation growing up. Had it on my PSP 1001! Multiplayer used to be awesome, though it was filled with cheaters lol
Haha this made me laugh. I can’t stand most multiplayer games these days. The older I get the less I can stand them. Single player is my bread and butter the story driven experience has me hooked right now. Thanks for watching!
I'm happy with my devices. All these companies are popping out handhelds, and the market is just overflooded.
Nintendo is reputable, and Steam has proven itself. I'm happy playing original software with the device by Nintendo known as the Switch. I'm happy with my Steam Deck, and Steam has excellent support. I'm happy with my ROG Ally and so far, I've not had a single issue with it.
I could understand an older person who's nostalgic and wants to play retro games. These people haven't played video games since they were a kid.
I'm an older guy who's been a gamer for life. I started out my video gamer journey playing Pong and Tank when I was a kid. I have owned and still own most of the original systems from Coleco, Atari, Intelivison, Nintendo consoles, all the Playstation consoles, and all the Xbox consoles.
As a kid, I always looked to the future of gadgets and the latest technologies. I love how far gaming has come. For a while, video Arcades had the latest games and best graphics. When the Playstation 3 came out, it killed the video arcade market because the graphics were so good.
I had great times on these consoles as the years went by. But I have absolutely no desire to play retro games unless it's playing with really young kids to break them into gaming.
I mean I like emulation and the experience of playing “retro” games just as much as the modern titles TBH. To each their own though thanks for watching the video!
Can you use a dock or a cable to connect the legion go to a screen or tv and play with a controller other than the legion go's joycons ?
Yes you can. I have a usb hub that I use and play with an Xbox controller.
What’s your personal opinion about the D-pad? I know a lot of people dislike it but I personally haven’t found an issue with it
So here's the thing about the d-pad it was God awful but I don't know why when the software update came out for the stick drift issue I feel like they also fix the d-pad as well I've asked a lot of people this question but I haven't been able to get an answer I don't know if it's because I've used the d-pad more that it wore down or if it really was the software update that made the d-pad more responsive but for whatever reason it was really shity but now I can use it is it great know but it's at least a C+
Honestly I didn’t use it much until I started doing emulation. I think it’s fine personally but I’m not someone sensitive to it.
Here's how it work for most people. If you saw enough reviews about dpad being horrible, you'd most likely think it's horrible too. I personally prefer this type of dpad over the round type like ally and Xbox controller. D pad is 100% fine

Love the comprehensive video, EXCEPT the PS3 section. Why do most if not all youtubers use Demon's Souls for PS3 testing? I am a huge fan of the series, but IMO that game is irrelevant thanks to the Souls series and the amazing PS5 remake. Instead, youtubers should try to emulate Sony 1st party exclusives that Sony never ported to PS4/PS5, and are left/abandoned on the PS3, such as:
-Killzone 2 & 3
-The Resistance Trilogy
-Motorstorm series
-Metal Gear Solid 4.
- Heavenly Sword (Covered on this video)

It's mind blowing we didn't get a resistance re master and a 4th 5th and 6th entry into the series. It was a money printing machine.

Make sure your bios and drivers are the most recent, adjust your TDP based on the game you’re playing, turn down the settings in game as well, turn on FSR in game if available. Most pc games will play at 800p. Starfield still sucks though unfortunately.
How long does the battery last on average when emulating PS2?
Sucks that the emulators do not come with bios like the ones for android devices. In the past on my android devices I would just need to download the emulators and just add the roms and I was good to go. Would love to know how this handles Jet Set Radio for the Dreamcast. That's one game that usually test how good an emulator works with Dreamcast titles.

I just bought the 1tb legion go and I need to get this large emulation pack I my need a 1tb micro sd card and used the internal ssd for AAA games

It’s a combination of the legion go, external SSD, white noise from the audio gain, and maybe our heater 😂. I’m going to buy a dedicated mic for these in the future so I don’t need to turn up the audio gain. Should have just muted this part probably.

It’s not any worse than any other handheld I’ve tried. Make sure when you get it you’re updating your bios and drivers first thing. Also I’d set your vram to 6GB in the bios it’s the best all around setting. Enjoy your new handheld!

Sadly the Legion Go has two deal breakers for me. One is the lack of VRR, this is absolutely needed on such a low FPS Handheld. Lets be honest, many games won't reach 60FPS, but 40 is achievable, so *locked* 40FPS VRR would be the goat. But it aint so with this device!
And the second deal breaker is the high price. These handheld PCs need to hit the 500 to max 600 bucks market no matter what!
You can buy 500€ Laptops with more power, CD drive, upgradable RAM and harddrive, big screen and keyboard.
We could argue if for the higher price you also get a docking station and or attachable keyboard etc. But 750€ bare bones nothing else isn't gonna cut it for me!
Not to mention the Steam Deck still exist for 419€. And if the Steamdeck can't run it, the Lenovo and Asus won't fare much better!
Definitely think it’s too high priced at retail I agree. I do like my legion go a lot though and it’s awesome for emulation.
Lmao its a fakcin tablet that has similar power to a full blown gaming laptop. The form factor plays in, the portability, the detachable controller, and the performance for the size. I think you are asking for too much for 700 bucks, this would feel like a steal at 600 dllrs specially considering this could easily be a replacement for most laptops.

On legion go? Depends on the game. Make sure you update the Xenia config file and also enable any game patches that are out. Always save a backup copy of the Xenia config file though so you can revert it back.

😂 on the jet wing actually if you wanna be specific. No I made some mistakes with the audio on some of them. I’ve already purchased a separate mic to capture this in the future. Apologize for that.

Only annoying thing is that i have to use an external ssd since the internal possible storage is way too small with 2TBs. I need like 4TB just for emulation and then also pc games and windows stuff comes on top

Eh 50ish was fine for me while I was doing the video. Could’ve got more out of it but I didn’t want to spend a significant amount of time focusing on getting a specific fps if the game was playable.

I’m not sure what you mean. Legion go has the ability to emulate the switch. I prefer to play on our OLED switch but only trying to show it’s capable.

So far I had been using mine for almost a week and works great....and the fact that run Windows perfectly and for me doubles as a work laptop makes me feel less guilty got the price tag lol

Eh that’s a combination of my heater, the legion go, the microSD, and turning the audio gain up too high. I’ve bought a dedicated mic for the future that will give better sound quality. The fan noise on the legion go is about the same as my steam deck OLED TBH.
Emulation is not even worth the headache… unless it’s something old like PS2/N64. Xenia and PCS3 are a nightmare in terms of compabilty. Maybe in like 5 years.
It definitely can be a PITA! I typically like the older stuff. Super Nintendo is my favorite.
