You don't have an email autoresponder taking all the emails for you? If not, you want to put that into place immediately. Otherwise you run some pretty significant legal risks. Get set up with an email provider (drip, mailchimp, etc) then they can export that whole list for you.
Hi Wes, thanks for this video. May I know how you use the LAA on an actual ad set? Do you use your LAA and detailed target audiences together with age and location or leave it purely as LAA? Thanks
Is there a way to target specific zip codes in the look alike audience. I don't want to target look alikes that are not able to travel to my brick and mortar.
Janelle, you can only run lookalikes on a a country-level, so you'd want to choose the biggest lookalike size possible, and then layer your desired zipcodes on top of that. But I'd only recommend this if you live in a big city. If its smaller, you might just wanna go with local targeting only and let the algorithm do its thing.
Absolutely Adriano! A lookalike of actual BUYERS is much more powerful than one based a list of ppl who just got onto your email list, right? The only reason I like to test both is bc you'll usually have way more ppl on your email list than on your buyers list... and sometimes creating a lookalike based on a larger list of less engaged ppl can outperform a smaller list, just bc there are more data points to work from.

You can create a custom audience from your list, and run ads to them, or you can use that list to create a lookalike audience which are people similar to your list, but not the people actually on your list. Hope that helps!
Great video - thanks. Quick question: When it comes to picking the "location" we can only pick at the level of country. What if my business is not national? My customers have to be within reach of my physical location - won't I be wasting money advertising all over the country to people who are just not close enough to become customers? Thanks.

You'd probably want to go for the biggest possible lookalike (10%) if you're narrowing the scope down that much though. Cheers!

Great explanation of how to create a lookalike audience! Just one question when creating the lookalike audience and choosing a location e.g. US, do i target a specific location like cities in the US when i create my ad?
Hey Ed, that is completely up to who you're targeting. You choose a lookalike audience based on an entire country, but then you can layer on specific locations so it narrows it down. For instance, if you're a local business, you'd upload your current customer list, make a lookalike audience within the US, but only serve the ad to people on that list who ALSO live in your area. Make sense?

Hi ,thanks for the great video. My question is if the lookalike audience are dynamically change when my source audience changes? and if YES, can I create a lookalike at the same time when I create a source audience that is completely empty? Thanks

Stefan Hansen yeah the authorizations are wrong. To save time Normally I just start making an ad as I normally do then when you get to targeting there’s an option to make a custom audience then a lookalike. When you do this, it automatically loads all the audiences on that ad account
You are a wealth of information‼️ Question... Can lookalike audiences be targeted down to local geographic area too? I am in #Minneapolis and am looking to reach local businesses to exhibit or attend our #MinnesotaBusinessExpo
Brad, absolutely... But you have to run the lookalike audience, then layer in geo-targeting on top. They won't give you just a list of ppl from Minneapolis. Cheers!
Great video! When you use a LLA, and you run a local business, should you mess with the interests and age targeting at the ad set level? Or just deliver ads to your radius, and not do anything with ages, make/female, interests, etc.? Thanks a lot!
Hey Don, totally depends on how big your local market is. You need to balance being specific enough with having a large enough audience for FB to run its algorithm. Honestly if its a small market, I'd run a lookalike, with a geographic radius filter and set a reach objective believe it or not. But if you have a bigger market, you can get more granular.
Hey Wes, your temporary noob here. I have to ask, how do you know how much to charge? if this was not the right place to ask such a question I apologize and I appreciate the value you are offering nonetheless!

I'm pretty sure they default to the currency of the country you're in, but not too sure about that.
how do you create an email list of 1000+ email addresses? is there a tool for this as well?
Not a tool, but you need a lead magnet to build one! Watch this video to see how: th-cam.com/video/66vbaJAVi8s/w-d-xo.html
I can't choose my custom audiences when creating a ad. Does anyone know why?
Stefan Hansen yeah the authorizations are wrong. To save time Normally I just start making an ad as I normally do then when you get to targeting there’s an option to make a custom audience then a lookalike. When you do this, it automatically loads all the audiences on that ad account
An in-depth tutorial which is easy to understand and follow. Two thumbs up! 👍👍
Thx Joanne!
If I'm just starting out my new business, do I have to wait until I get 200+ sales before I should even think about using a lookalike audience?
I actually recommend closer to 1000... can always back it out, and use a more general email list if that's bigger.
where do u get the csv file ?
You need to download it from your email autoresponder (mailchimp, drip, etc)
You are a wealth of information‼️ Question... Can lookalike audiences be targeted down to local geographic area too? I am in #Minneapolis and am looking to reach local businesses to exhibit or attend our #MinnesotaBusinessExpo
Brad, absolutely... But you have to run the lookalike audience, then layer in geo-targeting on top. They won't give you just a list of ppl from Minneapolis. Cheers!
when I try this it tells me that I need to create a new business after clicking on customer file?
do you have a business manager set up yet?

Would you consider a Lookalike audience as Cold Or Warm?
It's a cold audience, simply bc they are people who haven't heard of you before. But they're the best kind of cold audience in my opinion!
@@WesMcDowellInc okay. I'm noticing I'm getting more purchases from my lookalike audiences than my regular customs and was confused if I consider them hot or cold. Guess I need to be spending more on lookalikes!! Thnx for video and response
