I feel Im learning 10 times faster listening to you than only doing my daily Duolingo tasks. I feel I can only learn to a certain point on there and have been kinda stuck in one spot. But doing both is probably the best. So glad I found your videoes recently. Muchas gracias Laura!

Duolingo is good for practice but I’ve found a few glitches in the b1 level that insist I make what I know are errors in order to progress.

This has been my favorite video so far! I absolutely LOVE your videos, your thoughts on topics like racism, food, places, etc. etc. I live in Costa Rica and I'm immersed with the locals. So far, they are racist towards black people but my amigo explained to me it's because they are not used to it and it's very different. Our neighbor is from South Korea and it's so funny to go to the city or the beach with him because he gets so many weird looks! ha ha He thinks it's funny but it's true, so many cultures are so different based on how we grew up and what we're exposed to. But, if you keep an open mind, you learn, you grow and your heart and mind begin to change your beliefs....

This was clearly a day of guilt for you! You are very wise dear, but try not to feel too guilty for your past. 1st, I doubt your sister has always been a saint to you 😅. I know from experience being an older brother. Guilt can be a killer! I expect this video was cathartic and part of that process of letting it go. You are a really special person, that is for sure, so your faults are pretty minimal in the scheme of things.
PS let's not forget...the video was amazing! 🤩 Perfect speed for me atm. You really have a unique personal way of connecting to your audience. Your facial expessions, hand gestures and stories are totally hilarious.
Your method of teaching is very effective and fun! Now if I can just learn that trilled "r" ! Ok, I know I should have tried to say this in Spanish.

Hola dulce Laura, me gusta tu manera de pensar sobre este tema, realmente en algún punto hay que cambiar muchas cosas en nuestro vida, despues tres meses de aprender espanol solo yomismo sin profesor, estoy tratando de conocer latina cultura y historia de paises del mundo hispanohablante, ahora puedo seguir varios videos de "yutubers" de espana y otros latinos paises como Argentina, Colombia y Mexico, me siento que he cambiado en la manera positiva, el cambio es la ley de vida, gracias guapa, buena suerte.
i understand a lot from what you say. the fact that you changed is wonderful, you grow and learn new things and make stuff with your radiant energy by sharing your emotions etc. humans that say you changed maens that you need to introduce your selves again, this happens ona basis of roughly 10 years, humans simply change, that is entropy, evolution, mental and cultural development etc.

Change is always good. I've traveled All over the world. I especially love riding my motorcycle around North America, just going from town to town. I try and avoid the touristy cities. You never learn anything there. Only thing I regret, what I learned always came years after the lesson. I suppose that's because I like to just ride from place to place by myself, with nobody to really to discuss the lessons. What can you do, haha.

I find it funny how Spanish people use the verb “Coger” I’m Mexican and the word is used very differently around here. Makes me want to go to Spain and use it freely lol.

I've finally realized that the Spanish /d/ is much more dental than the English one. So, thanks for that! May I ask where your accent is from? I find it very clear, and would like to find other speakers from that area. Hearing wildly differing accents is very confusing for a beginner, so if I could just focus on one are…

Hermoso mensaje! Yo estaba el mismo. En el pasado, los niños mexicanos en la escuela eran muy malos conmigo, y otras cosas pasaron. Pero más recientemente, vi las cosas otra manera. No puedan dejar las cosas malas les impidan ser amable. El mundo es demasiado grande para una mente cerrada. Ser amable cuando puedan. Bueno, para ser honesto, un cambio puede ser ambos. Se puede cambiar a alguien mejor o a alguien peor. Me alegro que cambiaste a una persona mejor.
Para mi, como Americano, veo la homogeneidad de Espana algo bonito. A mi me gusta el echo de que los españoles tienen una cultura común por cual unifique el país para mantener las costumbres. No te puedo describir el dolor que siento yo por la fractura cultural que ha pasado mi país. Mis ancestros fundaron el país 150 años antes de que se convergiera en República nueva. Todo mi identidad es vinculada a ellos y la formación de un nuevo país con cultura republicana constitucional, formado en la imagen de la tradición Griega-Romana y también por la Magna Carta inglés. Y era orgullo de nuestro sistema, pero con la introducción de millones y millones y millones de extranjeros, que no piensan como los Americanos originales, no solo hemos cambiado culturalmente como una gente, pero los Americanos, por los últimos 50 años, tienen que ponerse a rodilla y perpetuamente pedir disculpas por todo nuestra historia. Si no ponemos de rodillas y pedir perdón somos racistas. El hombre típico Americano, por tener piel blanco, y por tener descendencia Europa, desde niño se le dice: eres racista, tienes privilegio injusto, y tu existencia no debe ser permitido. Así lo es. Ya hay dos o tres generaciones de hombres Americanos patéticos que andan decepcionados y deprimidos todo los días de su ser. No deseo aquel destino para nadie en ningún país. Abrimos nuestras fronteras y lo que recibimos ha sido décadas de ingratitud y insultos, hasta que nuestra gente, en la tierra donde sus ancestros lucharon para la libertad del hombre, tiene que pisar cuidadosamente con cola entre nuestras piernas pidiendo perdón y pagando impuestos de reparación para cosas que nadie vivo hizo. Es terrible. Cuando yo estaba en Espana y vi que la gente tenía una identidad común que les dio orgullo y propuesto, obvio que quería hacerme español y escapar la vida mía donde mi identidad ha sido convertido en mentiras, pisoteado, por los extranjeros huéspedes que habíamos invitado nosotros a participar con nosotros para tener la mejor vida que supuestamente ellos buscaran. Yo quiero ser parte de un país con cultura unida y definida, donde la gente rechaza la disolución de su ser, y también rechaza la falta de respeto a sus antepasados y sus costumbres y historia. Vivir sin identidad para aceptar a otros quienes eventualmente te engañan, es la peor experiencia que un humano puede vivir. Especialmente en su tierra. No hay nada peor, confíeme. No es racismo tener preferencias. Espana no es Portugal por preferencia. Cada nación distinta era formada por sus preferencias. Cuando tú haces una familia con alguien, igual como se forma país con una gente, es por preferencias. En un país donde no hay preferencias por su propia gente, hay corrupción y decadencia. País sin cultura común y gente homogénea, es como una familia divorciada; los niños, como la posteridad, sufren!!

I remember when I was 9, we had some guests from a comparatively distant part of the family. They stayed at our house, and we all slept on the same sofa bed, about 5 of us. My nose was stuffy and runny, and at some point during the night, I wanted to blow it. I got out of bed because I knew I had a towel somewhere in the corner. However, it was very dark in the room, so I couldn't find the towel for a long time. I got tired and just grabbed a random piece of fabric and started blowing my nose. Then somebody turned on the light, and it turned out that I was blowing my snot into my cousin's shirt, who was staring at me with the others.
I don't really think it's about us changing, it's just that we are inevitably stupid as kids, and some people remain kids for the whole life.

Para mi, es cómico que soy artista de tatuajes. Muchos de mi clientes hablan solamente español, de America central o México. Sus niños siempre están completamente sorprendido de escuchar un person blanco hablando su idioma. Es divertido.
