@Alexander Vita Basically one half of the ship made it through the portal, the front part which was carrying Arbiter, but the other half never made it through because the portal was closing just as Chief and Cortana went through so they were left drifting in space
I think not. He was stabbed multiple times, had no medical care, and was left behind with no one to help him. Plus the fact that if you wander around enough you can find other dead Spartan IIIs meaning him being only one would have been no problem compared to nine even if he was hyper lethal. The fact of Spartan 3s being weaker than other Spartans would also be a factor. Six without a doubt is dead.

So, I'm pretty sure the book "The Fall of Reach" is cannon, so I'll be basing my nit picks on what I remember from that. 1. 3:39 Master Chief's plan was to board a "disabled" ship, one which would still be repairable, and use it as an infiltration device to kidnap a prophet to negotiate with the covenant, as per his original mission (not nuke it). 2. 5:08 Kinda minor, but it was bugging me, so I decided to point it out. Technically, it should be called, "A" data base (since data bases were on every ship) what made THIS database special was that some ONI numbnut forgot to enact the Cole Protocol. 3. 7:59 Master Chief's mission was just to destroy the Navigation crystal, not plant a nuke. In fact, it required boots on the ground specifically BECAUSE a ship couldn't do the job (if conventional weapons were used, there was a chance the crystal would survive, while a nuclear method risked shorting out the MAC Vs) 4. 12:22 Specifically, Emergency chemical thrusters, which had a lot more ooomph to them compared to the rear fusion engines. Basically, a sudden controlled explosion on the side of the hull 5. 12:30 The sequence of events is slightly misconstrued. First, they fired an initial barrage of three MAC rounds, along with 500 archer missiles (not anchor missiles). Captain Keyes noted that despite only a few missiles actually impacting the enemy vessel with superficial damage, they had managed to down their shields. He then ordered another similar firing solution, but this time with a remote piloted longsword with a Shiva nuke onboard. Just as they were prepared to fire, however, they were hit by blast from the new Ship's weapons. The venting atmosphere initially disrupted their aim, until Cortana finally managed to get a firing solution in place. After a chaotic mess, the enemy shields were down, and the longword was successfully rammed into the side of the Covenant ship. In a particularly satisfying moment, the enemy's shield actually CONTAINED the nuclear blast, which was what actually allowed the Pillar of Autumn to survive such a close range nuke. 6. 15:58 In the book, Fred actually instructed the other spartans to jump out of the ship, believing it gave them a better chance at surviving. It likely did, but you can only increase your chances of surviving a supersonic free fall by so much. 4 spartans died hitting the ground, several were too injured to move (which probably meant like a shattered spine, considering who they were) and everyone else was at least seriously injured (Basically, everyone have broken bones, while Kelly was on the verge of death, requiring organ replacement). 7. 16:22 It was actually before the spartans arrived that saw a large groups of marines dying. One of the surviving four marines (the only surviving group out of about a company of 400) explained that they had barely managed to hold out, and were expecting death basically any second. A lot of their forces had actually died when someone called in an airstrike and an idiot had the brilliant idea of bombing EVERYTHING, killing the Covenant, but also a majority of the marines. There were also several points in the video where the more amazing spartan feats were skimmed over, but none were explicitly wrong as far as I could tell. Overall, it was quite an interesting video I enjoyed.
Amazing work dude. I have actually read the books and I am confirming that most of what you said was true. Vids like these are great for those who don't wanna read the books. keep up the good work. I am looking forward to your next video! pls make it a halo 6 one. (ps. upload more frequently! XD)
The books are definitely worth a read, or a listen if you use audible. I’ve love all of them but haven’t read or listened to several of the more recent ones. The post Bungie ones. I’m not sure if they are worthwhile or not so haven’t bought them, lol.
Chief was prepping for a mission with to capture a Prohpet. Due to the Invasion they Red Team went planetside to fight and he luckily ended up on Autumn. That's where he was.
I yearn for a Halo game that allows hundreds of spartans to participate in a single mission and split into squads for different operations in a extremely huge map. The story will depend on the outcome of the spartan missions
"One of the biggest complaints about Reach and ODST is the fact that Master Chief was not present." And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why this fandom is just the worst
I mean there was this whole book about the fall of Reach, not sure what it was called though but it said what Chief was up during this time and for ODST? It's called ODST for a reason.
Keys: “new mission blue team. We’re gonna need to delete the nav map” Fred: “why is this a mission? Can’t we just send a message to the station and have them delete it?” Keys: “no, comms may be compromised” Fred: “isn’t there some kind of protocol to destroy very sensitive data?” Keys: “Fred, you will now be team leader of a new team called red team. It’s an entirely new team that was just created. You will run suicide missions. That’ll teach you not to make too much sense. If you survive, you might get a spin off series.” Fred: “nice!” Keys: “it’ll be prefamous YT series” John: “can we get a pelican?” Keys: “why?” John: “cuz I wanna jump out of it” Keys: “suuuure” John: “gonna also need a nuke. I wanna do the cool guys don’t look at explosions bit”
Spartan Joshua was actually lost (MIA) on reach before blue team make it to castle base. Joshua is taken out by the bomb he sets because his banshee goes down within the blast proximity. It never says he dies (even though it is implied) but that's the last mention of him. This happens about midway through the book first strike.
I already know this because I read a book master chief was in space fighting on a unsc in space where he then returned to the pillar of autumn as it took off where they went to slip space and went fleeing the covenant
That guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he try’s to convince you with math but unless he’s just trying to find something out and not prove something he sucks as a source of information
even if he dosnt I know theirs one on TH-cam and if you want to learn the lore yourself play halo wars the first one or read the book contact harvest as It goes deeper into what happened.
@@glacial3788 Actually I just started playing Halo Wars Definitive Edition and so far it seems like it takes place like a year or two after contact. Not exactly sure. I know about the book but I'm doing like a Halo cram session and prefer to get my lore via videos. @@thaneros yea halo wars takes place during the second battle of harvest and on however if your read the logs and timeline you can read info about everything happening before the events of halo wars campaign. also the introduction gives a small bit of less clear lore.
It always bothered me that Cortana was with the pillar during Reach, since the cutscenes in Reach make it seem like she was a for runner AI, which makes so much more sense since she’s supposed to be the game changer
No it didn't, Cortana was researching the forerunner ship underground with Halsey, she had forerunner Information in Halo: Reach, lol, Cortana was made from Halsey's brain, that's how it always been, and 343 made it to where it was only a fraction of Cortana that was in Halo: Reach, so that the book and game didn't contradict each other so much.
Wow, I know Halo is in a dry spell right now but geez. Just read the fall of reach. Hell, I would encourage everyone in this comment section to listen to the audio book on TH-cam for free.
@@thekillerpilll6042 Indeed. I especially enjoyed Chiefs back story and the whole Spartan 2 training operation program. It really puts a face behind the mask
I always assumed John-117 was doing his own thing on Reach the whole time, and the easter egg we saw was him being freshly prepared for the escape. Like he had just went into cryo-sleep minutes prior to seeing him. This probably wouldn't have made much sense anyway since I think the events of them escaping would have been so short there would be little to no point in freezing him for the trip.
Then what happened to Linda after recovery? How did she escape the destruction of the first ring? I know Johnson managed to survive but how did she? And the one with Castle Base, Hasley was also being housed there after being transported by Jun (read Fist of Arrow, which is technically fan fiction but has been accepted by Bungie and 343), who also survived Reach by climbing up an orbital elevator and taking a pelican out (this is from something else).
That is certainly Master Chief within the cryo chamber at the ending of Halo: Reach. The helmet is the give away. There were only two Spartans on board the Pillar of Autumn when it escaped from Reach, and those are Master Chief and Linda. Linda's helmet is distinctly different from Master Chief's, so therefore it can only be Chief in the cryo chamber.
You should talk about the covenant and how they deal with flood infestations and humans deal with flood infestations and compare which one is better. I would love that.
They got in the super ships shield because everytime that new weapon fired the shield would drop due to energy drain. That's why Cortona had them wait till the last second to dodge the blast.
If Linda was on the piller of autumn same ship in halo one, it crashed killing 80% troops did she recover soon enough to flee past the flood and covenant that master chief killed and you can’t say she stayed there on the Halo because it was destroyed.?!?!?
When the piller of autumn crashed on the Halo ring it didn't kill 80% of the marines actually alot of the Marines and ODSTs survived the crash if you read the books the Marines put a good fight up until a little before master chief blow up the piller of autumn the games doesn't really show or explain this well but there where marines still fighting the covenant and the flood for most of the game.
Before the Autumn crash landed on Halo, Keyes ejected all unopen cryotubes so the unawakened occupants could be recovered. Linda was obviously among those unopened tubes and Chief recovered hers after the events of CE where she was eventually revived by Doctor Halsey.
When you reach the point where you can look back at where you were released from cryo-sleep, exit as usual and then don’t go on after you exit the small room
Tbh everytime I hear stories about what chief was doing before halo 1 I like to try to sync those stories with the events of halo reach and imagine them happening simultaneously
There is a map in halo reach forge and it's in the gamma station. You even have some clip of it in the video at 17:53 Also, question: do you think that the generators are a reference to the generator defence mode in firefight?
I don't see Halo: Reach the game being cannon with the books. The Pillar of Autumn was up in space getting ready to leave, full of Spartans. The Covenant fleet showed up, the POA engaged the fleet, while Blue team went to secure the nav data, and Red team went down to the planet to help. The Master Chief was already given Cortana long before the battle. Noble Team would have been a good addition as a covert ops but it wasn't done properly and makes no sense. I'm sorry.
Well, that's just lame.. I hate that whenever I think about the lore behind the games alone, I get punished for paying any attention.. I gave up on the story after h4 anyway, but it still sucks that they can't seem to keep the story straight and tell all the good parts in a book or comic.
They could do a lot of exposition through data pads and stuff. Things that flesh out everything going on but aren't necessary for casual play. I get that doing cutscenes for the terminals is expensive, but text is cheap and works just fine as we've seen in H3.
I Want a prequel series for Halo. It’d be pretty cool to see everything we didn’t in the base game series. Prequels didn’t work very well for Star Wars but I still would like to see.
During the cutscene where the pillar of autumn escapes you can actually look to your right when the cutscene shows the pillar of autumn's barracks and see the master chief in a cryo chamber, so pretty much to sum it up he was in cryo sleep on the pillar of autumn... Crazy right? (Edit) crap I should have just watched the first 10 seconds of the video before commenting😆
Smart AI like Cortana can make "Fragments", which are secondary programs of the main AI, allowing them to multitask efficiantly. I believe the Cortana of Reach, examining the forerunner artifact was a fragment of the "True" Cortana, which was on the Pillar of Autumn, acting as its central AI.

2. 5:08 Kinda minor, but it was bugging me, so I decided to point it out. Technically, it should be called, "A" data base (since data bases were on every ship) what made THIS database special was that some ONI numbnut forgot to enact the Cole Protocol.
3. 7:59 Master Chief's mission was just to destroy the Navigation crystal, not plant a nuke. In fact, it required boots on the ground specifically BECAUSE a ship couldn't do the job (if conventional weapons were used, there was a chance the crystal would survive, while a nuclear method risked shorting out the MAC Vs)
4. 12:22 Specifically, Emergency chemical thrusters, which had a lot more ooomph to them compared to the rear fusion engines. Basically, a sudden controlled explosion on the side of the hull
5. 12:30 The sequence of events is slightly misconstrued.
Overall, it was quite an interesting video I enjoyed.
fall of reach isnt canon anymore. halo reach was a retcon
@@flaninty2705 They're both canon according to 343. They're are certain things you just have to overlook.
Cortana was on reach and on the pillar before she was brought to the pillar? I think we have a mix up here.
2 fragments of cortana
@@rocekth good point
Thank you for mentioning this, this was extremely confusing.
I already knew all of this because I read the books but I love your presentation. The fall of reach will forever be my favorite book from the series.
Amazing work dude. I have actually read the books and I am confirming that most of what you said was true.
Vids like these are great for those who don't wanna read the books.
keep up the good work.
I am looking forward to your next video!
pls make it a halo 6 one.
(ps. upload more frequently! XD)
Except his battle timeline is off, Reach fell in less than a day. Everything after is the Covenant looking for the artifact and mop-up operations.
The books are definitely worth a read, or a listen if you use audible. I’ve love all of them but haven’t read or listened to several of the more recent ones. The post Bungie ones. I’m not sure if they are worthwhile or not so haven’t bought them, lol.
Wow, learned something new about the Halo series. Love your content and keep it up!
Master Chiefs point of view of Reach would make a good game
Man halo..... god i cant describe with words this thing.....the music the lore.. the missions the character's personalities.
🎉🎉🎉yesssss
Can we have this as a game
Chief was prepping for a mission with to capture a Prohpet. Due to the Invasion they Red Team went planetside to fight and he luckily ended up on Autumn. That's where he was.
I yearn for a Halo game that allows hundreds of spartans to participate in a single mission and split into squads for different operations in a extremely huge map. The story will depend on the outcome of the spartan missions
I've been wanting large scale PvE battles since halo 3 🥺
Sorry fam, 343 doesn’t do that kinda stuff

"One of the biggest complaints about Reach and ODST is the fact that Master Chief was not present."
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why this fandom is just the worst

I mean there was this whole book about the fall of Reach, not sure what it was called though but it said what Chief was up during this time and for ODST?
It's called ODST for a reason.

Fred: “why is this a mission? Can’t we just send a message to the station and have them delete it?”

Fred: “isn’t there some kind of protocol to destroy very sensitive data?”
Keys: “Fred, you will now be team leader of a new team called red team. It’s an entirely new team that was just created. You will run suicide missions. That’ll teach you not to make too much sense. If you survive, you might get a spin off series.”

My mom when I did not do the dishes but instead napping 0:18
I already know this because I read a book master chief was in space fighting on a unsc in space where he then returned to the pillar of autumn as it took off where they went to slip space and went fleeing the covenant
But that's just a theory, a game theory!
That guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he try’s to convince you with math but unless he’s just trying to find something out and not prove something he sucks as a source of information
Do you have a video of the first Human Covenant contact?
even if he dosnt I know theirs one on TH-cam and if you want to learn the lore yourself play halo wars the first one or read the book contact harvest as It goes deeper into what happened.
@@glacial3788 Actually I just started playing Halo Wars Definitive Edition and so far it seems like it takes place like a year or two after contact. Not exactly sure. I know about the book but I'm doing like a Halo cram session and prefer to get my lore via videos. I know its lazy but almost 20 years of lore is a lot to take in and I've burned though the games pretty quick. I only have to finish Halo Wars 1 & 2, Halo 4's Spartan Ops and Halo 5.
@@thaneros yea halo wars takes place during the second battle of harvest and on however if your read the logs and timeline you can read info about everything happening before the events of halo wars campaign. also the introduction gives a small bit of less clear lore.

thaneros ive beat all of them. Loserrrr jk
the bigger question: where is Emile's skull on his helmet during the 2 last missions of Reach.
If you find his dead body at the Mac cannon it’s still on
It always bothered me that Cortana was with the pillar during Reach, since the cutscenes in Reach make it seem like she was a for runner AI, which makes so much more sense since she’s supposed to be the game changer
Clearly this idiot doesn’t know anything about Halo since he can’t even spell Forerunner 💀💀
Wow, I know Halo is in a dry spell right now but geez.
Just read the fall of reach.
Hell, I would encourage everyone in this comment section to listen to the audio book on TH-cam for free.

my guess where John (Master Chief) was when reach happened is that he was playing Halo 5 on his own collection (the master chief collection)
Tore through 50 “U N S SHESHIPS”
I noticed that too 😂
To make the story short
They were kicking ass off screen
Still bugs me how he says this before every video “it’s gonna be fun guys let’s get into it” can you just get into it?
Adam Sanchez well he just told you “LETS GET INTO IT” so you played yourself reeeee!
Adam Sanchez ooof
Its funny how he hearted this comment
Dooode McBaggins I know. He probably just hearted a bunch of comments.
This doesnt explain how chief was in the cyro chamber at all in the start of 1
When the ship he’s on goes into to slip space, 3 weeks go by so he’s just sleeping in there waiting for the jump to end.
Yeah it’s chief but just an Easter egg not cannon
You should talk about the covenant and how they deal with flood infestations and humans deal with flood infestations and compare which one is better. I would love that.
Why da FAQ where you taking a nap when other Spartans wErE FaQiNg DyIng
PLEASE PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS I LOVE THEM. AND AUDIBLE IS PERFECT FOR HALO
They got in the super ships shield because everytime that new weapon fired the shield would drop due to energy drain. That's why Cortona had them wait till the last second to dodge the blast.
Master Chief: takes a week and a half break after fighting the flood on a giant ancient super weapon ring.
"aight, back to Reach to save the squad"
@@Turbofurby The books are so much better story wise then the actual games.
Isn’t Linda in Halo 5? I thought she “flatline died”
@@FabianC907 Read my comment. She was revived by Halsey after the events of Halo CE.
When you reach the point where you can look back at where you were released from cryo-sleep, exit as usual and then don’t go on after you exit the small room
FYI I think it's said somewhere that the Cov. thought Reach was Humanity's Homeworld
Tbh everytime I hear stories about what chief was doing before halo 1 I like to try to sync those stories with the events of halo reach and imagine them happening simultaneously

I absolutely love your videos of the gaps on the halo games, keep up the good work.
There is a map in halo reach forge and it's in the gamma station. You even have some clip of it in the video at 17:53
Also, question: do you think that the generators are a reference to the generator defence mode in firefight?
To sum it up: he was on the pillar of autumn and the orbiting space stations.
imagine the Red vs Blue series was involved with the story of Halo.
They had to make a random jump as the Cole protocol dictates
the covenant during reach was badass definitely showed there prime in reach
I love these videos, keep up the good work!
I learn new halo lore everyday, thanks for the amazing video dude! :D
I Want a prequel series for Halo. It’d be pretty cool to see everything we didn’t in the base game series. Prequels didn’t work very well for Star Wars but I still would like to see.
He knew the fall of reach was a canon event
During the cutscene where the pillar of autumn escapes you can actually look to your right when the cutscene shows the pillar of autumn's barracks and see the master chief in a cryo chamber, so pretty much to sum it up he was in cryo sleep on the pillar of autumn... Crazy right?
(Edit) crap I should have just watched the first 10 seconds of the video before commenting😆

Master chief: fuck that I need a nap
I didn’t get how/why cortana was with chief already when in halo Reach we see her with halsey and Noble 6
