Ashwin is a thinking player, always analysing players trait, standing posture, bat grips ( that indicates where player want to play ), field placement captain set for the batsman etc. If he is not getting wicket or response from the pitch, he used to talk to his confidentat for his inputs. A great sturdy player both with bat and ball. What one may find as a short coming will be his fielding especially stopping the shot or run after the ball. A good confident player willing to give always 100% to the captain.

We miss tons of legends like this . Same fate that Ajantha Mendis (Former Sri Lankan player whom considered as the inventor of carrom ball)went through happend to Ashwin. He relied himself too much on Ajantha"s Carrom ball thing. Sooner with the technology the mystery of the carrom ball was discovered. Then it was nothing no batsman found it hard to face. They faded away soon leaving a lesson that you should never rely on something too much.Only Muttiah Muralitharan was able to succed with an unique technique.
