Flatscreen TVs in the 2000’s were sure pricey in those days. It’s now the 2020’s and you can get a 65” LED for $1K or less.
I once got a 32 inch LG TV for $300 from Costco.
This is a May 2000 episode of the American "Hollywood Squares" show (from season 2 with host Tom Bergeron) and the two contestants competing are David & Alicia (who won $2,000 yesterday). 🇺🇲 🇺🇲

That TV cost $13,995 which is $5 short of $14,000. That is way too expensive for a plasma TV. And I only paid $657 for my 32in TV from Sony. But I bought it @ sears & roebuck!

Plasma TVs were definitely pricey in the early 2000s. A 42 inch TV would cost about less than $1,000 nowadays.
