  • Chuck explains how to get started with 3D printing using an Ender3. He explains where 3D designs come from. How you convert a design to a printable file. What the printer does with the file to get you to a solid 3D Printed object. All steps are covered so you will know how it all works and how to get started.

Sole Survivor I totally agree. Just a easy to follow video of somebody who knows their stuff and starts at the beginning. A lot of videos assume you know the lingo already and are difficult to follow because you simply don’t understand the basics. This is the perfect starter video, not too long, not too short.

There's so much crap on youtube and the internet in general from long winded content creators that ramble to poor quality filming, its refreshing to find your channel. Thank you @Chep for making professional high-quality content. You're videos are very informative and to the point. Subscribed! I have been intimidated by 3d printers previously but thanks to your channel I bought my first 3d printer (an Ender 3) today thanks to you.

An excellent intro to 3D printing. This is the first video I have watched that simply explained the slicer software and other steps to getting a print done well. So now I understand where I need to look to adjust how things work. Thanks. I'll order a Ender 3 V2 today based on your review.

Thanks for the honest info. I was a cnc machinist for a while and got my foot in the door because I built, programmed and used my own cnc router before applying for the job. I was trained on HAAS vmc's and learned their cad/cam software to make parts for NASA and many other companies. I think I can handle the learning curve for one of these. I'm big on jumping into something I'm sure I need and will use a lot as well as learn from. Then it sits in the corner and I never use it, ie new metal detector, =). I think I can take a $200 initial hit to get it here and do the upgrades I've seen especially the spool holder and the feed tube fitting problems. I mainly want to do lithophanes that I learned to do on my cnc router but it was loud, long and messy. Came out great and amazing. Then recently I see the RC guy making curved lithophanes on this machine. I know I need this now! Research research and I find you. I'm convinced this will be fine with a little love to do what I need and maybe making parts that friends may need for stuff. Any other suggestions you have for me before I order this machine? Thanks in advance.

Chuck.... Thank you for all you do for the 3D printing and Electronics community. Your reviews and available designs on Thingiverse for the Ender 3 finally made me pull the trigger on an Ender 3 Pro this week (price gap between Ender 3 and Ender 3 pro is now ~$50 US, so I went with the pro). Assembly is going well so far, but I hit a snag right off the bat. There were no M5 threads cut into the bottom of the left upright. Thread were only cut into the top, and I don't have a M5 tap (yet). Thankfully I had some spare long M5 bolts on hand and was able to make a poor man's tap by filing two vertical groove up the threads of my spare M5 screws (thanks Matthais Wandel's). Since the M5 bolt is some form of steel and the vertical is aluminum, the makeshift tap did the job, but it took a bit to get both tapped. A note to those building any Creality printers. Make sure you have some spare M5 bolts and M3 & M4 taps on hand when putting one of these together.

There are settings in Cura to print multiple one at a time. th-cam.com/video/u4YONDL4iXo/w-d-xo.html

Sorry for asking here. I just subscribed to your channel because it is very helpful. One quick question. If I have a clone e3d all metal on my ender 3, or a micro swiss, should I reduce the retraction settings from you cura profiles? I have been struggling with clogs on prints that require some retractions. Don't know also if I am getting clogs because I use the same printer with petg and pla. how should I clean the nozzle. sorry for bothering, and thanks for your videos.

A second question please, under the slicer program Ideamaker, the only instruction I can see to the extruder ( the filament feed rollers) is for retraction speed and amount, and not for positive extrusion amount and speed. As for the item called Printing Speed of say 50mm/s is this the speed that the nozzle moves over each layer i.e the speed that the x and y stepper motors moves the nozzle.
    Thank you

Hi, I'm looking into this as a first 3d printer, do I need to set the baseplate height or anything like that before the print and how long did that pawn take?

Hi Chuck today 2 weeks from were i got the Ender 3 find the time to run the level files I spend lot of time getting familiar on the design software like blender and tinkcad which i find out is the 96% secret to get a good result on 3D printing anyway the adjustments on the bead pay of great and your level files and system work 100% I print the hole file to check other tings came out fantastic the little squares print perfect and glue to the bead great I am going to print the nub next but thank you for you help your videos are great help and the recommendations on machines are great the Ender 3 is great for beginner I only find one problem whit the power cable to the extruder that is moving L to R only and gets on the way easy fix and I build a spool filament holder separate from the machine and i will put a Bering on it for a soft turning I got the machine set on a metal utility cart that i can move around is not a good idea to be graving the frame this way stays in one place Thanks Chuck great videos
