Crimes against women are normalized because violence in the form of deprivation, ridicule and abuse in some form exists in our homes.

Thanks the Wire team for raising valid questions.
Why conviction rate for the rape is 28%? And why it takes so long to give a verdict? Can’t this be completed within 2 years?
Why stupid laws like ‘rape on the false promises of marriage’ still exist when serious crimes keep happening day after day?
When would we stop looking at rape through prism of patriarchy? Rape is not sex. It’s a violent physical torture causing extreme trauma and suffering to the victim and some cases physical injuries and death as well.
So why in few cases hi court asked a rapist to marry a victim 😢. Why rape of a married woman draws less punishment than an unmarried woman. So married woman wanna get raped? Or their trauma and injuries less than the unmarried women.
Why I don’t see these valid questions asked anywhere.

    #JusticeForWomen

Those who are trained professionals in psychology and human behavior, should investigate and develop a detailed study as to why this rape of women is so widely prevalent in our society. Why are our males so inclined to indulge in this despicable behavior. From men in high office to street level thugs this evil is endemic. WHY? What is it in the male psychic here, that triggers this atrocious and ferocious behavior towards females. Unless we confront these issues head-on, these shameful crimes will become a national disgrace, and define us, as to who we are. You have had the courage to present a forthright program on this issue. Thank you

This is the exact reasons why we need the media to be stronger and stronger… as the media is stronger than the common citizen of this country…
My question is… Why wire hasn’t made videos every single day on the Hathras case for example…
Why doesn’t media outlets like you go and move the Supreme Court on certain issues?
I say this because you have the knowledge, where with all and teams and connections to do it…
When media outlets like you take these kind of issues to very serious levels, common citizens do get the courage to stand with you because we know you are unbiased and non political in nature…
I am just requesting you guys to think and work out of the box

  • @jayaramabbaraju7489
    @jayaramabbaraju7489 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Main reason is for this , mindset in families where they think daughters are a burden because parents used to incur huge expenses to marry of daughters and dowry , and women were not contributing financially. Another reason is brutal invasions where the invading armies used to kill men and young boys and rape women to teach the defeated armies a lesson, and this has affected the psyche of indians a lot . Movies like Animal and movies in 70’s and 80’s are also responsible for this mindset and should be banned as well. Government cannot solve mindset issue. They can make law strict and make sure that punishment is severe . Also online porn should be banned as well as young boys ate accessing the content on phones and committing crimes . Good values have to be taught in every school and by parents as well to respect girls and women.🙏

Especially north India suffered brutal invasions and trauma as a result, the mindset has become of the invaders brutally. This pain, hate and anger has gone down generations and they have forgotten who they really are. Women are still the victims, respect for women has disappeared there are no boundaries. One change which can help is parenting as you mentioned but the parents need to be in right frame of mind and believe what is right and wrong and not what has become the culture non equality.

I sincerely hope that people vote on issues of safety, cleaniness, education, health service . The issue of sexual harassment is an epidemic which needs steps at a war footing.
There has to be a SC driven committee which is incharge of seeking accountability and updates from the state and central government on any such incidents hereafter . Enough is Enough

Can you also please follow-up on the supreme court's recommendations on police reforms in the 2006 judgement of Prakash Singh v. Union of India.
The problem is the casual attitude of the police and politicians on this topic. And it stems from the larger problem of how society percieves women.

You are not presenting well enough arguments. Its not about desire or clothes, its about asserting power and its about seeing women as readily available things to use to feel better like alcohol and smoking. Its not about women having desire because any action can be miscontrued as invitation and men don't need to see short clothes to imagine bodies but it sure is seen as an invitation or a disrespect to the code to be followed in a man's world while the woman might not be aware that thats whats happening. Also men think differently and women dont know this.

Power imbalance in a patriarchal is the major cause of violence, in which, both women and men equally participate in perpetuating the norms which create imbalance. Criticize patriarchy as a whole not just selectively which bothers you. Women very much enjoy the part of patriarchy beneficial to them. And similarly men do the same. Rest I agree with you on other aspects like weak policing, bad infrastructure with dark areas in the city, poor education, etc.
