- Today I'm driving the 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost which I was fully prepared to love as fuel-saving alternative to the more powerful GT V8. Turns out what I ended up driving was an epic disappointment. Let's find out why!

If you dont look at it as a mustang people would be drooling over it
Rear wheel drive
Turbo 4 cylinder
Plenty of aftermarket
Loves aftermarket parts to make great gains
If this was in a different body the tuner lovers would be going crazy
This is one of the most true things I’ve ever read tbh
The problem is that shit is heavy and the chassis sucks
Yes... If it was a Miata.
Forgetting the tiiiiny detail of it weighing 3600 whopping pounds lol
I don’t care that it’s a Mustang. I care that it’s not available in manual, paddle shifters for the A10 are literally DLC, and the fact that it’s not even a new generation. It’s the S550.5 if anything. Chassis is literally the same, and the exterior is very very similar. Not hating, but they could have seemingly easily made it even better and, IMO, definitely should have.
Edit: grammar shi
I have a 2024 ecoboost premium 0-60 in drag mode 4.48 that's pretty quick for a turbo 4
really impressive, you probably surprise the type r driver at the red light once it turns green.
@@vlonen8926he was driving down hill
@@fratzonicsrtbanshee174 😂 (i got a 2018 ecoboost)
@@vlonen8926 okay, doesn’t mean it’s doing 4.4 seconds 0-60 stock, those are mustang GT numbers the ecoboost isn’t doing that
You don’t buy the ecoboost for performance. That’s not what it’s meant for.
trueeee
Thank you this guy complaining about no paddle shifters on an eco boost. Is missing the entire point of the eco boost.
mine disagrees...
@@hahahahhaudeadto be fair, the s550 eco boosts had paddle shifters. That said, they were mostly garbage and it was easier to just mash the gash pedal to downshift than to shift through 10 whole gears.
I just got mine a month ago with Premium, Magnaride and the Performance Pack, and we had a lot of fun driving it on a road trip 400+ miles each way. Over 26 miles to the gallon and extremely comfortable, did not feel beaten up at the end of the trip. Did not have to work hard to get close to 100mph passing other traffic, and the B&O sound system was great.
Remember the 10 speed is a learning transmission
If its driven like a grandma then it learns that if you drive it like you stole it it learns that snd shift improve greatly
I drove it for a week and by the end it still felt like we were on a first date
Wait that makes sense actually...my car feelsl like the shifting has improved as I've had it for about 8 months now...I had no idea it adapted to the way you drive it
I have a Mustang Ecoboost. If it came in a manual transmission it would be slower compared to a 10 speed automatic. This is my second Mustang. Best Sports Car in its price range.
Got my '24 for just under $33k, feels like a steal...love my car so much
I’m looking into getting a 2018-2022 eco boost with the 6 speed
They seem very fun
They ruined this car by putting the paddle shifters behind a paywall 🤦🏾♂️
You gotta pay for the paddle shifter DLC 😂
@@Maljey 😂😂😂😂
They ruined this car by taking away the manual transmission too.
@@fortheloveofnoise facts
Yeah absolutely fkn stupid.
I don't think the eco boost is meant to be an enthusiast sports car.
The way I see it, the eco boost is the Mustang for people who like the idea of driving a Mustang, but are really more sedan/minivan people. That's one of the reasons it only comes in auto, and it costs less.
An enthusiast who wants a Mustang, will get one of the 8 cylinder options.
The Manual trans is actually a lot cheaper than the 10 speed by a couple thousand dollars..
@@marcasswellbmd6922 The manual V8 is cheaper than this? Are you sure? I thought the eco-boost was the entry level Mustang?
edit: I just checked, and the ecoboost starts at 31k. The V8 starts at 42k.
@@marcasswellbmd6922 I just looked at the Ford website, and the eco-boost starts at $31k. The V8 starts at $42k.
This is the first mustang model to not have a manual trans the base engine which is a shame
i got a eccobost for a sports car reason why i didnt get a 5.0 is because the car market is shit right now and fucking take over kids make insurance rates sky rocket so its just not advisable to be paying 400 bucks a month for a car not and another 200 to 400 bucks on insurance plus v8s are gas guzzlers , so if anyone is read this if you want a sports car but dont wanna break the bank get a ecco
I had a 2018 Ecoboost which was very reliable, economical and fun. The only let down was the transmission. Now I have a 2024 exactly like in your video but for a grey interior. Thus far it has been great. I get 10.4L/100km in the city as that is where 99% of my driving is. The transmission has been improved but it still needs work.
Keep grinding fella your content is quality.
I wouldn't consider any sports coupe without a manual.
You may want to lookup the Mustang SVO. 4Cyl turbo mustangs have been around for a loooong time. Damn thing was faster and handled better than my '84 1/2 GT.
This guy actually said he would rather drive an Elantra over a Mustang Ecoboost. I won't be watching no more of his reviews. He doesn't know much about sports cars. He has a lot to learn. Back to Raiti Rides!
Latey i watch a comparison of elantra and civic , honda still best daiky drive sport car
Raiti’s Rides is a phenomenal channel.
is this faster/quicker than lets say... a stock Type R or Stock Golf R? handles better maybe?
Mine feels like it handles pretty well… there’s some corners that are 25 recommended near me and it handles those corners at 50 no problem
Like my 2021 Ranger. That 10 speed just wants to get to a higher gear and doesn’t like to downshift without a lot of pedal pressure.
Was considering one of these but then discovered no manual trans option. No sale.
Why I’m looking into the 2018-2022 eco boost 6 speed
Need the manual one
Save the clutch pedal!!!!!
One month since I've owned my 2024 mustang EcoBoost, ngl I don't notice much of a difference between my 07 Civic as far as take off and performance. Granted, besides the brand new feeling. I knew it wasn't going to blow me away so I am ok and love everything else about the car.
I rented one for a couple days for some job training and I was shocked how nice it felt. I really hated the super long front end and you almost can't see in front of you if you're going up a slight incline. Overall I really liked it though.
I wonder if Ford is going to release a Ford Performance Tune? It made a huge difference in the transmission shifting!
Most people don’t know how to drive a manual transmission anymore. You are in a low cost sports car. What do you expect for $33 k
Thanks for the video
The Mustang GT’s gotten to be too damn expensive! There’s no way around it! I’m with you. I’d rather have the Civic Type R or ELANTRA N than the eco-boost. 😂
😅 how about a v8 like a man not a soy boy?😂
@@RW-xj7bl over compensating for something?
@ag3nto578 yep. It's too big and explains the kids I have everywhere with different women...and I'm sure you can open up you're zipper and tell you're not one of mine😅🤣😂🤣
@@RW-xj7bl so you need a v8...
@ag3nto578 nope. I need the 3 I have. 5.0,471 and a 496. My fuel pump is louder than you're ricer 😀 ever done a 100 foot wheelie in a car? It's glorious. Google black 1969 chevelle ss and look in the images for the one that has the number r106 on the windshield
I got the 2024 ecoboost and it's just fun to drive. Sure, it might not be the car for the purists, but its acceleration and handling is plenty good for me. I swear I do under 5 secs 0-60 without struggling. I was considering the Toyota GR 86, but the Mustang has more oomph and it's a classic American.
The Honda odyssey that my friend’s mother owns has paddle shifters. If a sports car has to have a pay wall for the paddles there’s a problem. Especially because a bloody minivan has paddles.
It's the last standing pony car.
I think you tripping it’s a good sport car for the money in my area new they are going for 23-26000 with discounts again new
The list of new cars that are worth buying is getting smaller by the day .
You're reviewing this like its a true sports car, this is for the daily drivers. It's not a v8 , it doesn't need to be one.
My problems with this car have nothing to do with it not having a V8. I was excited to drive a well sorted 4-cylinder turbo but that's not what was delivered :(
Ford just recently trademarked the term "Ecobeast" so I wonder what that's going to be. Still the most corny name conceivable.
They sell a short block under the Ecobeast name now.
It better offer a manual trans
The 10A transmission simply does not pair well with this car, at least as tuned.
No way and No thanks....
:D
It's a 4 banger in a big muscle car body and now they weigh even more than they ever did. Recipe for disaster
That's a Fact... I had a 2016 Ecoboost Mustang with the Paddle Shifters Transmission. I called it EcoTragic.. there was nothing Economical about it.. I spent more to maintain it tham my 2022 Roush Mustang with the 3rd Pedal Rev-Match Tremec 6 Speed Manual Transmission. Magneride Suspension and Intercooled Limited Slip Torsen Rear Differential same as the GT500.
Roush Mustang got better mpg .
It feels fine to me I have the same car goes to 60 4.6 seconds
@@panglingaow Wait 3 years when the Factory Warranty ends. You'll go back to the V8 like I Did 👨🏻🤘🏻🏎🏎🏁🏁🚩🚩🌲🌲⛰⛰
The car sounds bloody horrible. I understand these cars are for those on a budget but damn. The last generation V6 sounded 10x better than these ecoboost motors.
it's a rental car now.
4 banger mustang with a 10 speed is disgusting🤮
My biggest issue is that it's damn ugly.
I wouldn't buy anything with Turbos... no one knows how hot the Turbos get. The get up to 1,875° Fahrenheit or 1,020° Celcius. They're mounted 1/8 of inch from the engine block. Without Heat Shields 🛡 or insulation Turbo Blanket. I call the Ecoboost or GM's EcoTech the EcoTragic.
Buy the V8 Mustang because with Ecoboost you'll replace the Engine Twice before 60,000 miles. This is like Cadillac North Star engine a piece of junk.
5.0 GT V8 Forever 👦🤘🏎🏁🚩🛣⛰️🌲⛽️ Smiles per Gallon
Probably because you don't know about turbos... No no they do not. Turbo temperatures avg around 800F for diesel and 1000F for gas, and no factory turbo should be getting hotter than 1200F, and most will start melting at 1500F. Which most modern cars would be limp mode long before that point. If it's hitting 1875F, that person probably either got a crappy tune, or their pushing way too much boost for the oem turbo.
There's plenty of Ecoboost that hit 200k miles my guy, this isn't the 80s anymore. Probably more likely to have problems with the coyote now that Ford is introducing cylinder deactivation. That's what eats up the cams and lifers on GM and Mopar V8s.
@DragonKnightX12 I tried the economy 2016 Ecoboost Mustang, and I babied that piece of so called Eco-friendly junk. I drove it slow for 3.5 years, and the Turbo locked.
They to me you weren't spooling the Turbos in the forums and needs premium fuel. Check engine code said overboost. Fuel mileage went from 32 mpg to 8 mpg. So I went on the Freeway to break loose the Turbos and went from 65 to 90 mph. Then a V8 Maserati Quatroporte Grand Sport. Makes some pulls he had a car length jump. I punched it and in 8 seconds without realizing it hit 130 mph. Gapped him by 5 car length and he was trying really hard to catch me. Then I exited in an S chicane at 65 mph. That's when the check engine went out.
I didn't drive it hard afterwards, and 6 months afterwards it needed a new engine. At 39,000 miles, and took 2 months to replace it. They said it will be 2,700 for the rental.. I said Ford will only pay for 1 month. 1.5 years later the Over Boost Code again with the Engine Shaking in the cold start. Took it back the engine stopped shaking, then they said 2 months and this time Ford wasn't paying for any months that the 2 will be out of pocket. I got a rental for 3 days, and bought the only White V8 Mustang with the 3rd Fun Pedal 6 Speed Manual Transmission in the whole state of California. I bought a 2022 Roush Mustang with Rev-Match Tremec 3rd Fun Pedal 6 Speed Manual Transmission. Magneride Suspension and Intercooled Limited Slip Torsen Rear Differential same as the GT500
It is Serial Number 22:0001.450R
@@ChasingDifferentAdventures 2015-2016 would be first wave of the first gen of the 2.3 EB. You bought at the time when it was a fresh new product that still had kinks to iron out.
Also it's not the same engine. The 24 is a whole new engine with an entire new architecture, injection and air intake systems. new turbo.
Hopefully means a better engine, with having dual injection and maybe Ford finally out in some stronger internals that can hold up past 400-450whp. It's pretty sad even Subaru is capable of building a stronger engine.
I would definitely wait a year or two.
Of course by that point there's gonna be loaded GTs on the used market for a affordable price
There are more than a huge problem with these cars, the number one for me is the price! Next is the quality, now a days is anything to save a buck, from plastic everything, to aluminum all, is just a piece of crap. Leaks every where, durability, safety, features for the money, and worthless ones are paramount to these cars dismay. You all can keep them, and a word of advice, save for the rent and take the bus to work!😅🤣😂
Ugliest mustang to date. Just kept going backwards 😖
Well how is it going to stay in the power band without 10 gears, and who wants to shift 10 gears 😂
Sometimes it's not in its powerband and may lug the engine. The 10 speeds are too many in this application. 8 speeds would be more than enough and likely a better driving experience.
@@ksorsomeplace Probably just needs a good tune.
