hi thank you for your video. Is that the only info (chart) this EDR data gives a car insurance company?
Thanks Tom!
I had a question:
I am trying to get access to multiple EDR records, on the scale of 100s - 1000s of records. I am working on a personal research project, and I have been having trouble finding publicly-available real-time crash speed data on the Internet. This is something I think EDR data will solve, but how can I get access to that data? Is that something I can request from someone and how would I do that? I just need it for less than a week.
I'm sure there is a very simple and transparent way for one to opt out of having this device on the vehicle? Guy said that the recorder doesn't record constant, but it wakes up and records as an accent occurs, but somehow has information from seconds before the device wakes? Hmmm...good thing our government is completely trustworthy and always looks out for it's citizens. This could be scary if that wasn't the case.
It records constantly in RAM then during an event it saves that to non volatile memory
Very interesting.
Who is legally entitled to this data? Car owner? Car manufacturers? The state? Everyone?
Car owner.
yes but try to defend yourself in the court when asked why you didn't want to share the information.
They might start chasing you for the perverting course of justice and at that point they can take the data from you as the evidence.
+ insurance companies might put the entitlement in their t&c.
The question is not who you entiltled to the data, but whether you are entitled to remove that device.
As an owner - can I remove that black box?
Yes. There’s no legal requirement if you own the car
MY INITIALS!
Please tell me, does EDR work if I was hit from behind? The airbags didn't deploy. I went one week. Can I get any data?
Something tells me you won’t need this data.
Yes it will, and get yourself an attorney ASAP
