    You did it! The first time traveling with baby is always a learning experience, but it's always worth it for the memories. Just wanted to share a couple tips: TSApre check is soooo worth it with kids. Don't have to take off your shoes, jacket, take out your liquid or electronics. Also, you can install an infant car seat without the base, which makes it easier for traveling!

  • @atchomama123
    @atchomama123 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    For most infant car seats you don’t need to have the click in base for it to be securely fastened into the seat. There are seat belt loops in the back of the car seat that you can just slip the seat belt into. We learned about this when we flew with our son when he was 8 months

  • @lacez9699
    @lacez9699 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Get the doona! We travel all the time and it’s amazing for airport travel. Straps right in to any cars, folds up easy to be checked at the gate and super easy to maneuver! So worth it!

    You are amazing parents!! ❤You guys are so talented for managing to do this! Bringing a newborn baby on a plane is not easy but you guys did it and Addi is adorable 🥰

  • @Leslie_ann_h
    @Leslie_ann_h ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Next time you travel with baby in a ride share (Uber, lyft ,whatever),just use the seat belt to secure the base if still traveling with a carrier though it applies to the bigger carseats as well. Don't use the latch system in cars because when you are in a rush, you can never unlatch the damned latch buckles quickly OR easily.

    I have an almost 13 week old and I can't believe you took a 6 week old on a flight!! So much respect!! I remember when mine was 6 weeks old, so much fussing and crying and i was still a wreck, those were the dark days 🤣 it's so much better now though, still not perfect but might and day compared to 6 weeks ago, all the best!

  • @darbyhamilton
    @darbyhamilton ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You don't actually need the base. You can install the seat safely without it. Just search it up for your model.

    As a breastfeeder. I completely agree that pumping, so husband takes a morning feeding, is such a huge help. I got a 2 month old & its hard to find time to pump 4 ounces but its worth the sleep.

    You guys will be pros for the next flight! I cannot believe Mal drank that coffee FROM A STRAW which will suck any broken glass particles right off of the bottom of the glass! Saying prayers that she will be ok and glass free!!! If she didn't want to throw it out she could've strained it through a piece of cloth or something! Mal you gotta be more careful, you have a daughter that is depending on you!

    One of the most influential things I learned with my firstborn was to *always* set an alarm for 45 minutes BEFORE I actually *need* to leave my house. It reduced my highest stressors by 95%. My anxiety went from the chronic stress of being late not having items, having too many items, baby puking on self, baby pooping himself and/or pooping his outfit, car seat problems, gas on empty (that I fixed on the day before my planned ___. By doing this I avoided the “I’ll leave early and grab gas on the way” which never happened because I was always late) causing endless anxiety. While it may suck doing that alarm, you’ll be able to see yourselves quickly gaining hours you spent redoing things ☺️ Lastly, I always make sure to look up policies for ANYTHING I’ll be doing newly as a parent. Doing this allowed me to know the yes’s and no’s of most things and what to expect.

    Every time I went through TSA flying with a baby out bags got “flagged” every single time! They tested the water fort the bottles the bottles already made the formula container etc it was so annoying…one time we missed our flight bc we had a mini bottle of water in the side of the bag we forgot about to throw away even though like I said it was one of those mini ones and they literally checked the whole bag for like 20 mins just bc of it instead of just throwing it away and moving on 🙄

    Ok guys, so you made a pretty video, good for you ! But in regard to traveling the first time with a baby, you prepared absolutely nothing! Most of your “encounters “ is just bad planing - actually no planing! Car seat base? You dont need the base in a car. No boarding pass for the baby ? What did you actually think ? You can give her a bottle during take off, no need to breast feed. Oh and last tip, just dont fly low cost airline with a baby!

      @@olyckssister yes, i know but as a neonatal nurse I can tell you that I’m less concerned about the ear drums and very concerned about sickness and viruses. I fly a lot and have seen my share of disgusting behaviors on an aircraft. They’re only tiny for such a finite amount of time. I just guess I worry too much. My sons first flights were to Arizona when they were in high school. (We were super poor at the time that’s why it took them forever to fly).
