- When you dive deep into the vast fiction of the Cyberpunk universe, you find some weird stuff. For example, there's a gang of evil killer clowns and a group that cosplays as Star Trek characters. Wild! In this episode of GameSpot’s Cyberpunk Lore series, we’re delving into the weirder side of the fiction and talking about the strangest street gangs to ever roam Night City.
From a collective of street performers, to people that run around dressed like Jack the Ripper, there are all sorts of bizarre groups you can encounter in the original pen and paper RPG. Will any of these gangs show up in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077? It seems unlikely, but we're holding onto hope that CD Projekt Red has a few surprises left in store for us. Plus, they'd be pretty fun to see in-game.

There's actually a gameplay screenshot of what appears to be a bozo clown guy. He has red clown hair with a red grenade for a nose

@@joshuagcwong734 They probably are,but I don't think ozob is one of them,he's more like a Black market trader and mercenary.And he is a special character,he was put into the game as a homage for the Brazilian fans.However,since the game is not released yet,they could easily put him into the gang,and fun fact:Ozob is Bozo spelling backwards,that was kinda obvious, lol

When I played Cyberpunk 2020, my crew had beef with the Bozos. We would hunt them for sport and visa versa. Good times.
I ran CP 2020 and the group ran afoul of Pennywise and a number of his buddies. Wile hiding in an back ally one of the players remarked "Did we lose these fucking clowns or what?" Flashbacks to The Warriors from 1979. Good times.

Definitely the same. I would say the joke hits a little harder in Fallout since they basically found old posters and tributes to Elvis and now revere him as an almost godlike being, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got the idea from Cyberpunk

Every car or bike you buy so basically all of them , unlike GTA in cyberpunk your character only have 1 life you can not keep or store any cars that you have stolen the ncpd will never forget the car is stolen your character will get arrested and fined maybe even jailed.

The Cyberpunk world is what a futuristic world stuck on the 80's
2077 is when they modernize and are somewhere in the 2010's in terms of aesthetic.

Since Ciri travelled to the actual Cyber Punk world, it would be a bit weird if there were "Witcher" gangs in Cyber punk.
@@theglitch312 that's not rly confirmed, all she did was vaguely reference a fituristic setting, where people have flying cars and metal in their heads. It was obviously a poke at cyberpunk, but not a direct reference. Also as far as i remember, the lead designer was against a cameo, but maybe he changed his mind.

If we end up seeing a gang-centered DLC in the future, than I hope it brings to light one of the groups you forgot to mention - the Inquisitors. Lorewise their schtick was that they were body puritan extremists, and sought to achieve through intense training and focus what others cheated to get with cyberware. They had a nasty habit of kidnapping people off the street and ripping out their chrome by force, whether that person was a booster gangoon or just a Joe off the street. I could see them beefing hard with Maelstrom and Voodoo Boys for obvious reasons, and also the Scavs for dealing in black market chrome. An enemy faction that was immune to quickhacks from not having any cyberware, but was still every bit as dangerous due to fine-tuning their own meat into a weapon, would be a welcome addition for future updates.

The idea of a gang of elvis impersonators with their leader being called "the king" is honestly kind of rad, and would be quite creepy/cool.

A lot of these gangs seem less like dangerous criminals and more like cosplayers. The bozos do sound pretty terrifying though, and I actually like clowns.
Out of all the gangs mentioned that aren't in the game, I think the biggest lose would be the Trekkies, that sounds friggin amazing.

in 2018 trailers, you can see the brainiacs gang, a more serious one & pretty much expert in netrunning.
It looks like in 2077 The Voodo Boys took the role of Brainiacs but I won't be surprised if the new Voodo Boys members were once part of the Brainiacs since they're nothing like their 2020 counterpart.
Actually, there was that one really random side mission that you do run into a guy who would match what a bozo is. so yes it's close enough to be confirmed if you ask me.

The city is already packed with 10 confirmed gangs but many others will appear through side quests, activities, bounty hunter missions or just wandering around. Ozob is one example of character from the Bozo gang with a side quest. We have seen Western Stars (or what appears to be) in the El Coyote Cojo bar. Expect more for sure.

Mike Pondsmith and his creative colleagues sense of humor is epic when they made Cyberpunk TTRPG
Posergangs is an entire category of gangs. They range from "cosplayers" to "fanatic fans" in how weird they are. At their disposal besides cosmetic surgery is personality chips. If you can "chip in" a skill by plugging a computer chip with basic taekwondo or german-speaking, you can create a chip that subtly guides the users personality.

Gotta go back and doublecheck some of my youtube history but im pretty sure a video i watched that covered gangs showed a tiny clip that had a trekkie in it. Whether its more a cameo or the actual gang however i couldn't tell you.
This should be the first free update to the game add in all the weird gangs with their own unique quests

The Bozos are in, and they really laughing while attacking :D Maybe Piranhas are also in, saw there a bunch of dead and looted a conversation where they stated they are do another "illegal party", but were killed as it was a trap by some other gang. Jack the Rippers are also in. Not sure about Trekkies, there is a reference tho in sex shops as a sex toy themed around Star Trek, saing on it: "Beam me up Scotty" :D

What is great is the source material covers 20th and 21st Century pop culture and real life society since the TTRPG was a product of the '80s. This means it can evolve as pop culture and society evolve beyond the 21st Century. It can be a never ending anthropological archive of what was popular during a certain period of time. How's that for transcending being just a game?

Cyberpunk writer definitely played Fallout New Vegas based off of the Elvies and the King. Literally the gang in Vegas called the Kings and their leader being called the king

Actually, the entire gang stole the leader's name: the gang is called The Kings. Yeah, probably stolen from Cyberpunk 2020, but the joke hits a little better in the Fallout version in my opinion

I recently began a Cyberpunk Red game by having a bunch of Bozos attack them on a LEV train.
