    I'm so glad that you found this guy. He obviously plays games, he has enough imagination to "guess" some plossible sci-fi features, like electromagnetic accelerators on a double barrel, etc. There are some experts who stick in their judgments only to real facts about weapons and not considering that game takes place in future and theres probably gonna be some tech we have yet to invent. Glad he's not like that!

      Yeah he seems like a cool person. You can tell he understands video games in other videos. He talked about playing Modern Warfare and about low poly models in older games. It's nice to get the opinion of an expert in firearms that isn't some person that has never even played a video game.

      He even mentions game balance here and other videos like in one of the Call of Duty videos he mentions that one of the rifles is actually select fire. The reason you can't change the fire mode? Probably because no one would pick any other gun if you could.

      Hitting armor or even flesh and bone with a regular sword enough will dull its blade, over time. A sword that relies on high heat would have that as less of an issue,

    • @oneandonlyjark
      @oneandonlyjark 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@StOrmZIsoNItZWaY That was poorly worded on his part. The pay-off would be a bit low for what resources are required to power a thermal blade, keep it contained and safe for the wielder and the environment (don't wanna be an accidental arsonist), and actually construct a metal alloy capable of ridiculous, sustained high heat. • @stevenbobbybills
      @stevenbobbybills 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Not Cali compliant. California doesn't let thumbhole stocks slide anymore (at least for semi-autos and other AWB restricted items), you'd either need a traditional stock or a filled in thumbhole for you to ride your thumb on the same side as the rest of your hand.

    About the thermal katana, if it's something like a Tungsten alloy it's comprehensive, doesn't even need to be that heated, something along the 1000°C to 1500°C is more than enough to make it quite deadlier and a problem to any steel parts like, bionic arms, guns and even armour, Tungsten itself is quite breakable due to hardness of the metal itself, but if you make it softer by heating it well... That's a quite viable weapon, not very user friendly or safer, and I don't know how they would heat something like Tungsten in a blade but, nice concept to have some fun. About the APDS, steel is not ideal indeed, but it's cheaper, even cheaper than lead (that's why most conventional bullets uses steel core), the ideal would be Tungsten again, the thermal properties of Tungsten made it a very reliable armor piercing material, the same I used to explain the blade.

    The devs say smart guns do NOT have the same projectile speed as normal bullet-firing firearms which leads me to believe they are indeed rocket guns like the Gyrojet
    I imagine the advancements in nanotechnology allows them to cheaply (relatively) implement guidance systems into each individual rocket round, and the lower projectile speed from the rocket projectile principle allows for the bullets to more effectively be steered

    The one thing I'd like to point out- Although I am unsure if you'll see this, is that as a Sci-fi setting there are certain internal consistency bits to consider.
    Like, in this setting, even common street wear is made out of bullet resistant materials and future tech nonesense. No one just wears cotton anymore because it's really just that dangerous to just walk down the street. Certain types of cybernetic enhancements are also pretty common, like subdermal armor. Unsurprisingly, this leads to a lot of future guns being large caliber and high energy.
    To clarify ingame terms- Tech weapons all use magnetic accelerators. Yeah, that'd include the Nekomata.
    Smart guns are, in fact, bullets with guidance systems. They actually talk about it in some of the in game codex's. Basically, the guns computer networks with your own cybernetics to select targets and guide projectiles. If you're wondering, you do need some specialized cyberwear to get good results.
    You mentioned that a thermal Katana shouldn't be any better than a steel one- That's even true in game. It's mostly for cool factor, although, there are some edge cases where the target is particularly vulnerable to heat. (Not really relevant, but in game I'd still recommend pretty much any steel katana over any 'exotic damage" type katana. Drones have a tendency to explode when you hit them with their weakness, electricity, and so being close to them while that happens is inadvisable, plus, heat is only useful against a couple things, but is weak against others.)

    Counterpoint FOR the Thermal Katana. Normally you wouldn't want something hot enough to cauterize a wound, against a normal modern human. However if you started integrating technology (armor, weapons, microchips, cameras, etc.) Into a person's body, extreme heat in a melee weapon could cause extra damage to those enhancements that sharp cold steel wouldn't.
    Just a thought. I'm not the professional.

  • @Kyuschi
    @Kyuschi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'll make a couple points about the sword then.
    first off, it's heated metal as far as i know. Heated metal, like any other material, will get kinda melty or at least more easily bendable, so so if you hit something hard, say, another person's blade, some bone, any of the armour people will be wearing your sword's now pretty much lost it's edge and is now a heated bludgeoning stick.
    You might be able to future tech your way around this with a magnetic field or something holding the blade at it's correct shape, but then you run the risk of magnetizing your blade to someone's armour or picking up extra material while going through said armour, thus continuing to make the blade less effective.
    as for the cauterization, yes, but not in the way you think. i don't think there's enough time for a cut to cauterize a wound that it made, and getting cut with something that hot would definitely be incredibly painful, hell it might even cause more weird internal damage as the molecules move around more, the problem is when you don't cut them.
    see unlike undead skeletons, bone that's still inside a living person is incredibly hard to cut, It's wet because you know, 70% water and all, as well as being held in by a lot of squishy muscles and such, thus making it more dense and more likely to flex instead of break or sever, and if you've already lost momentum from cutting through however much flesh and armour was on top of the bone, there's a pretty good chance that if you even do cut it, you only cut it partway and get stuck. your superheated blade is now sitting inside the guy, perpetually cauterizing itself into him. good luck getting that back in time to deal with anyone else.

    • @randomnobodovsky3692
      @randomnobodovsky3692 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since you mentioned water in human body and weird internal damage - a super hot tip of a stabbing weapon might be interesting (and nasty) fictional futuristic thing - imagine the damage caused by high-pressure vapour...
      Another one for the list of potential problems: sooner or later weapon's handle will get very, very hot. And a chance is, it (heating) can accidentally turn on inside its sheath.

    • @Kyuschi
      @Kyuschi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@randomnobodovsky3692 i think i know what would be the most practical for this. a long enough shaft so that it won't burn you, a pointed weapon for maximum armour penetration and the aforementioned pressure damage, doesn't really matter if it deforms slightly, good leverage so you can yank it out if it does cauterize itself in, maybe a dead man's switch for the whole sheathing thing. Yeah, i got it.
      Thermal warpick.

The part of the slide that splits open has a viewpoint for the barrel but no ejection port seen. which is rather impractical. If it shoots bullets you'd have to manually remove the used shells. and if it fires lasers then there's no point in racking the slide.

    8:00 its possible the reason its steel rounds is because it seems to be some variant of a railgun, so the devs might have assumed it had to be ferromagnetic, but I doubt they would make that simply of a mistake. its more likely its just meant to be cheap armor piercing ammo since that gun type's perks in game seem to be shooting through walls.

    Anyways just my $0.02
