Uni's don't teach, they give you the opportunity to spend your 4 years practicing your trade, and give a certificate to prove you did your part. If you only do what your Uni says, you didn't do your part, and your certificate will reflect that.
This is really interesting. I have never seen someone "sculpt" and retopologize at the same time. That takes serious skill and knowledge to do as well as you have. Great job!
I'm surprised how few people know the name of this method. It's called poly-modeling. The same method people use when creating hard surface objects. It's an absolute pain if you're trying to make something detailed (it wasn't made for that though), but saves a lot of headache when you're working with anything Stylized. Pretty sure most anime modelers use this workflow when modeling
@@jacktakticalwhat this creator is doing is a hybrid form of box modeling. The face they approached it differently because you have more control of the facial topology if you do it point by point. It’s preference but some people use it more often than using a box. Though I have no idea what the technical term for it. Vertex modeling maybe? Idk.
wish i'd seen this video when doing my character modelling class, they way you tackled the ears and topology of the head is amazing. this method is the way i was taught and its so interesting to see different styles
This is Genuinely so inspiring.... The topology and everything about this is incredible. The amount of talent, passion and motivation that must had gone into this is amazing! I have been struggling to get motivation to make stuff even a quarter this good, how do you keep yourself motivated and energized to make such flawless works of art?
Cool to see someone still using the old "edge modeling" method, everybody else just sculpt and, as much as I'd love to try it, I can't right now. Well done!
Just started getting into blender, it really is incredible to see how different people tackle the software. About 1/4 done my first character model, and here you are making it look easy!
amazing... this video helped me a lot understanding how characters are made. i was having trouble finding which way of making would fit me and this is just it!
This is incredibly inspiring! I enjoy 3D modeling but sculpting is a bit of a headache for me... this may actually be a better workflow for me and I'm excited to give it a try. Thank you very much :)
I don't do 3d modeling or anything related at all, but this was very interesting to watch! The final result looks so nice, I think you are very skilled!
I noticed you making liberal use of the SLIDE-RELAX tool. So, here's a tip that's not really well documented: Holding SHIFT while using the SLIDE-RELAX tool will change the tool to smooth ONLY the topology while still preserving the shape and volume of the mesh, provided the topology allows it. Excellent model, by the way! And Dungeon Meshi is a must read!
when i see the anime week ago, i think I'm familiar with character, but i doesn't remember where that memories came out, but i remember now, because i watching this 1 hour tutorial.
one thing: could i suggest having different music through the video?? just one track gets pretty tiring lol, great model though it looks amazing!!!! love the outline and cell shading you did, it makes the model really looks like the source material
Great video! What for are those retopology redirections on top side of the head? (3 in 1 quad count changers) Just to get rid of huge amount of polygons on the back side of the head and make flow cleaner?
Hey I love all of your blender videos!! I was wondering if you could help me by any chance, so I have tried to follow the donut tut many times and keep getting different issues I just cant fix, its very frustrating. Should I instead look for a different tut? How did you get started? :D ❤
just out of curiosity, why did you choose to poly-model this instead of sculpting? Is the added control more important? Does it better suit the aesthetic?
You've taught me more about topology and face modelling in one hour than my university has in 4 years
Glad to be of help for you! Thanks for watching!
so real
Same here, the things they taught us at school is nothing compared to what some artists teaches us on TH-cam
And with some lovely background music as well!
