    If this was edited down to a 30min show and had footage spliced in to show the people Raven is talking about, I could see it being a huge hit as reality TV. Interesting idea. Very cool to see how it played out in front of a crowd

    This is great. Don't forget, Raven is juggling how to create a new gimmick without vignettes, TV, interviews, or time, and creating an entertaining dvd. It had to be over the top and visual, or they're still just two indie guys coming out at an indie show.

      This here is the best comment because everyone just wants to say he ribbing or burying these guys for a quick payday, but if you think about it he has to work within his limitations and I think this was the absolute best he could do.

    The beginning of this was fairly down on how well this did, but I honestly loved it. Even though I knew you weren't going to pour time and money into a giant rib, the concept Raven laid out at first made me question if he was just screwing with the guys. I was entertained and I'm looking forward to the next two episodes.

    I have a few notes and do with them what you will. I love the concept. It's similar to things like Bar Rescue or Kitchen Nightmares. The concept is a proven winner. I think the opening should have shown us the old gimmick. Either Raven coming in to watch a match or reviewing a tape. No need to draw it out and have to show us the whole thing. Keep it nice and snappy. Show some of the low lights and maybe a couple highlights so we know these guys have potential. I think it could have been helped in editing. The pace should be similar to those other shows I mentioned. Keep it snappy. Keep it moving. Raven's segment at the end where he was wrapping it up was probably the best part. He needed to be reeled in a bit, given more direction, maybe some bullet points. In general, I think things would have moved more smoothly if he had been better prepared. I think he did well helping put the match together but it just dragged on too long, he kept repeating himself and losing track of what he was saying.
    Raven was the biggest problem with this show. He has the mind and experience for this sort of thing but he tends to ramble on. You could see the guys tuning him out when he was trying to help with their match and honestly I tuned out a bit too. If you ever want to dust off this concept, which I think could be great for TH-cam if it's put together right, consider using a different host each time. I'd love to see how different guys would approach this sort of thing. Cornette would be perfect for this kind of show but good luck getting him to leave the house. If it could happen, then that I would pay to see.
    In short, this could have used more structure and focus. I'm picturing this concept in my head working really well with the right people and tightened up a little bit in editing.

    • @ProWrestlingPsychology101
      @ProWrestlingPsychology101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The key to not getting lost in the ramblings would have been editing... I agree about the rambling, I stopped half way through so I wouldn't get lost. But it should be consumable all at once.
      If they did this with an Iphone NOW, it would be 10x better!

    As a fan of Raven, the promo, character, and wrestler, we've always heard how he was a Mensa level genius who had "so many great ideas," and how he was a "genius booker," and has a "great mind for the business." Between this and his podcast, I think he's really just a fraud who's great at working us. I attended a show he had booked and it was not good. As for this, I can't tell if it's an elaborate rib on these two guys, or Sean Oliver, or both. But if it is, he wasted Sean's time with this nonsense, and if it isn't and he was dead serious, then he definitely isn't the creative genius everyone makes him out to be.

    • @mrwednesdaynight

    Raven nails it, they aren’t big enough to be badasses, they ain’t good enough to pull off the mma style technique so you have to go the comedy route, it is hilarious looking at their faces, this was how dusty looked when Vince said “Polkadots!!l”……”you ribbin me baby”…. But you go with it and love it and it will work.
    It’s the only way to get comfortable in front of a crowd.
    When you don’t have that killer look physically you don’t have the larger than life personality and charisma… it also makes it very easy to play a role, if they play the English nobility angle like Lord regal and have that obnoxious look and a sustain for these commoners and poorpers who disgust them, “vile filthy creatures” makes it easy for fans to dislike them straightaway.
    Fans nowadays don’t get who is the hood guy and who is the bad one, it’s just John Doe vs bill smith ….
    They don’t have the charisma of a rock or a Hulkster, they must work with what we see them as and not what they wannabe.
    You never want to be your final gimmick while your green because it makes you worthless!
    That final incarnation you want to be must come out naturally after you’ve gained fans and a following.

    I think this is the most unique wrestling related show I've ever seen. Pride aside (and dignity) if you look at the bigger picture this really made Juan and Jose see wrestling from a different perspective and try out a different personality for their gimmick instead of the same boring gimmicks that have been done to death.
    The only thing that I could ever change from this show is the end. Instead of having a Raven promo it would've been nice to check on Miguel and Enrique and see how they doing like a good month later.
    It would've been really interesting to see if they dropped the Renaissance Gaymen gimmick and come up with something of their own BUT with what they've learned about trying something new and out of their element that can entertain the High school gym crowds.

    The question isn't whether or not this is an elaborate rib, the question is whether or not this will get OVER with the fans who PAY MONEY to see it. Also, the row boat idea was pretty ingenious because I've never seen it done before. THAT'S what gets people talking. THAT'S what translates to dollars. Raven was trained by Jake Roberts, who was trained by Grizzly Smith. That's about as "old school carnie" as you can get. Think about all the singles & tag teams who have come and gone with gimmicks and outfits just as ridiculous as this that absolutely got over (The Mountie, The New Day, Fandango, Red Rooster, etc.) it's pro-wrestling, folks. It's supposed to be over-the-top. The late, great Scott Hall once quoted Chief Jay Strongbow (an Italian dressed as a Native American) by saying, "The only thing real in this business is the money and the miles." Guess what? They ain't wrong.

    I loved that KC tried something new, it’s a shame many people don’t particularly like Raven although he has a great mind for the business he also has a strange demeanour which makes me not sure about him.
    His goldust ziggy episode was a good insight and a reminder just why new guys who are green need to use a gimmick to hide their real selves.
    Allow them to experiment and to lose without damaging the character behind the gimmick.
    Even hacksaw duggan had a gimmick as the convict before he built his character and gained the confidence to go out without a real gimmick, Kevin Nash is also a great example, OZ was a great way to hide him with out killing him off.
    Imagine when he came back to wcw and if everyone remembered his OZ character he would’ve had zero credibility and it wouldn’t have worked.

    The fans know wrestling is a show and want to be entertained, unless your the all killing monster with explosive intensity it’s best to go with something like this.
    Theee guys need to be hidden for at least 5 more years before they get bigger and better.

    While I applaud Sean for trying to come up with something new this series seems really awful.
    I don't know if the intent behind this was to legitimately help these indie wrestlers with their careers or just to roast them. The whole thing comes across as an uncomfortable mix of insult comedy and somewhat helpful advice. That isn't a good mix, especially considering how Ravens big idea here was to turn these guys into gay hobbits or whatever.
    It doesn't really help that Raven is a pretty unlikeable character to begin with.

    • @nielgregory108
      @nielgregory108 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The concept is FANTASTIC and a proven winner. Bar Rescue, Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Rescue, etc. You obviously have NO, NADA, ZILTCH knowledge of what works and what don't. This would work, with the proper editing.

      @psynque 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nielgregory108 The key difference is that the harsh criticism of Gordon Ramsay would improve those restaurants at least on the short term while Raven here wanted to make these guys wrestle as gay hobbits, but thanks for the input.

      @@psynque I get were you coming from but while its not my cup of tea. There is plenty of wrestling fans specially in the indies that like this dumb ass gimmicks, like 5 years ago people were still laughing at that stupid Joey Ryan dick flip gimmick and now its Orange Cassidy. I dont get it but people like that stuff for whatever reason.

    This was the death note of KC. When I saw this, I never watched another KC product. It was so poor, with such little value or interest in it. Both Raven and the indie kids were just sad. Yikes. Looking back at this one is a sad one, its the Game of Thrones Season 8 of KC.
