The copyright holders for all things David Bowie would end the gimmick before it could even debut on national TV. Just an immediate cease and desist. Also, side notes, did they forget to trim the wig down? 1:11:30 he also forgot to look at the hard cam 1:14:52 earlier in the episode Raven said the guy would remove his wig before the start of each match, like Goldust would. Then later on he keeps saying he needs to retrieve the wig and keep putting it back on.
Both the Bowie and WWE would kill this gimmick quick. The Bowie estate due to the Name and look of Ziggy Stardust, as well as the music. WWE would sue due to the character being too much like Goldust.
it isn't a National broadcast ,its just a local indie TV ,so they could theoretically skate by , as long as they didn't flat out say "Ziggy Stardust" and try to make money off it ,they're fine. Think about it, The BEATLES estate could've sued the pants off of ECW for The Blue Meanie and i Bet WWE paid Apple inc a small license fee to use the name Blue Meanie for WWE tv in the 90's
He did this kid a real disservice just playing him the Ziggy Stardust song over and over again. Might've helped him get into the character more to hear a little Moonage Daydream, Starman, Five Years, Soul Love, Rock and Roll Suicide. It also doesn't work as an entrance theme. Starman, Five Years or Moonage Daydream would be way better.

If I was a 19 year old kid being told to do one of the hardest gimmicks to pull off, because of a Bowie Boner? I'd be questioning shit too, don't blame him for being uncomfortable. Kid did the right thing by mouth closed, mind open. Just not everybody is meant to teach, and Raven owned up to doing him dirty in the end, which was cool of him to do. Even if he were the biggest Bowie fanatic on the planet, I wouldn't put a 19 year old into this gimmick and expect any level of success. The only way you pull off a gimmick like this is through years of seasoning and polishing your character skills.

As much as he's ribbing them for his own amusement, he really does think the best way to learn how to portray a character is to step way out of your comfort zone. He was giving these guys absolutely goofy gimmicks so they couldn't be self-conscious as they look too ridiculous.
You cannot be even a tiny bit self conscious as the character while being absolutely conscious about every single movement and motion. That’s a very hard thing to do, it’s why guys like Dustin succeed and guys like terry Taylor failed. It’s much easier to become someone new than to try and make yourself larger than life when you just aren’t that type of personality.
After seeing 3 episodes of this, one thing is clear: (I can like the guy but) Raven is NOT a genius, in fact most of the time he doesn't know what he's doing and even comes clean about it in his ending statements. Good tutorials on how to improvise from the snort... cuff, I mean cuff or something. I should have checked into that before writing this comment. Good thing it won't be filmed and aired, wouldn't want to look like a total jackass.
Because its not well thought out. It seems he is coming up with things at the spur of the moment, no thought put into the person its intended for or how other people perceive it.

The pouting, pushing out his chest, the swagger all looked awesome, sadly I don’t feel the kid put in enough hours himself in his own time, not sure how long they took to film this but I’d say I’m given time and some more understanding of the character that he was supposed to be portraying would certainly help. He needs a few weeks watching Adrian matches and also watching the music videos.
If the show went on it would've been interesting to see if a guy who made it into the big leagues had an episode of Restler Rescue and how much of the episode had an impact on him on how to build a character or gimmick.

What I would have done was SprayPaint his head a Bright Color like a Hot Pink ,or Fire Red. and i would have said something more succinct like " I AM NO LONGER ROBERT KINGSLEY,THE SPIRIT of The Starman himself, David Bowie has taken over My Eternal Soul and I am NOW The GOLDEN ROCK KING" #1 he wouldn't have to Change his tights and Commentators call still call him "Robert Kingsley" and say he's gone crazy. and also the Psych Ward patient after him should have come out to Metallica's cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy"

Personally I don’t believe this was ever going to work out well. Firstly the best characters that get over with fans always seem to be just a ramped up version of themselves, so a ziggy stardust character that has zero resonance with the young guy is always going to miss the mark. Secondly I don’t think he’s a good enough actor, lacks that personality charisma and will only find himself by being larger than life. The guys it himself, he doesn’t know “who” he is and wants to find himself, he won’t do that with ziggy stardust. However I will say that having a gimmick like this will actually help the guy learn, it’s a great learning curve and it also hides his actual bland self and allows him to step out of himself by playing another character. It’s always best for green guys to play a role/gimmick as it hides the guy behind it allowing him to maybe get over later if he sticks at it.
A good amount of editing would help. Having close to a full match, 8 mins, of unknown rookie talent at the beginning will be the death of this video for most casual viewers. Then straight to 6 or 8 minutes of shopping that looks like two people shopping isn't helping keep people into this video. First half hr of the video should be no more than 12 mins tops. Probably 10 mins, a lot of down time and pointless in ring coverage. I can see if this was offered on TH-cam or other streaming services most would be gone in the first half hour. Not because of the subject but the presentation. It needs a editor to reduce the boring, non consequential parts of the video. " Is this orange or red?" segment typifies my point.
There's a reason most fans stay fans and never break into the business. It's easy to armchair quarterback: it's something else entirely to get up off your ass and actually put in the grind and hustle. I respect the shittiest of workers a million times more than I respect fans who think they know it all when they've never paid a due in their life.
If this guy had committed more, he really could have become a more updated version of Goldust with this character. There are so, so many directions to go with this gimmick.

The audience yelling profanities at each other from across the ring is so bush league. I know people get into it but it just seems low class. The focus should be on the people in the ring, not the fat uncle of the opponent on the other side of the dinner hall.
