All the stuff you guys say during the show is so accurate to how all band kids and DCI performers think. I can hear the people in my band being like “I had this goofy ah dream” or doing the scooby doo laugh in my mind’s eye
Bloo is my favorite drum corps. From the humorous vocals to the well-planned and thought-out visuals. Bloo never ceases to blow me away and make me laugh with the headcams. I admire every individual who lives for the drum corps. You guys have dedication that can not be competed with, and I respect all of that. You wear a smile and laugh throughout the blazing days and the freezing afternoons. All day for months, you guys practice. You run through the exact same thing more times than can be counted. You never get sick of it, though. This sport is so articulate and so easy to mess up. You can't go back, and if you mess up, you can't 'regain points' like in football or soccer. You guys are crazy. You're also amazing. I love you, Bloo! I'm so excited to see this upcoming year's show! :D
I'm a tuba from the Brownsburg highschool marching band. I'm not sure if you've heard of them though. But after watching this video, I was like holy crap, they have to do more than what we do in a class a highschool band. I've been wanting to try out for the bluecoats even though I'm in eighth grade because of "Riffs and revelations". Love the work that you have out into this to make your dream become others.

So did the Bluecoats put out a casting call for baritones who started out as trombones, or is it just that easy to learn trombone on the spot lol? You guys sounded great, and I loved the show. Congrats on the season
@@jtellgass Can confirm that when I went for Academy a while back most of the baris/euphs at camp brought their trombones with them (cost prevented me from going further, unfortunately). Y'all sounded great by the way!

I cannot speak on behalf of Bloo, but the majority of us at crossmen still said our vocals during judged shows. Personally speaking, I liked it as a sort of morale booster when you're exhausted and out of breath lol
Traditionally what we do is we use vocals during practices, but alot of the time we cut them out during actual performances unless they’re quiet/ unnoticeable

I marched SCV only a year and a half after I picked up tuba from being a flute player. It was hard work, but anyone can do it. I recommend checking out an open class corps!

The "booing" is tradition for bluecoasts, their nickname is "bloo" so instead of booing them they are "blooing" them. I used to think they were booing but then I found out more about it
Bluecoats, SCV and a few others use Karl Hammonds mouthpieces in baris, that's all I know for certain, and I'm at UNT for eupho with several of the marchers from this very show and none of them use Karl Hammonds on their concert horns

The top 8 double on trombone! Most of us had prior trombone experience, and I’m actually a trombone performance major

Personally I learned trombone in a few months. I mean you already know half the instrument, it's just getting used to the slide.
@@certifiedman7350 in 2014 dci changed the rules to include any brass instrument. So depending on which drum corps you join you might use trombone.

You can try out for whatever instrument, it doesn't need to be your primary, you just have to be good enough at the horn you're auditioning on
