The design of that ax is extremely functional. It is a very classic combat ax design. That is refreshing compared to many fantasy weapons.
I just started watching this blacksmithing series and I just want to say that I have the utmost respect for your dedication to what you're doing. You have successfully combined both the science and art of blacksmithing, and it show on your work that you thoroughly enjoyed making it. All my respect and all my congratulations.

Nah, I'm just an enthusiastic spectator. I enjoy appriciating the good work of others, mostly because I have too many interests for a single lifetime. And it's just rejuvenating and inspiring to see others perfect their craft with the unstoppable momentum of a mag-rail train.

All of the "real fantasy weapons" are my favourites... But the Damascus steel was a real treat. Definately my favorite of all your builds to date.

***** thats not a tool axe, its a war axe. wood is splitted by splitting mauls wich are very simple and most times dull
I know was joking lol the really should have tried it on a pig carcass and then had a nice cook out
+MrPanos2000 Well, you're right about the first part, splitting mauls can have an edge on them it's not entirely necessary. Axes on the other hand can be as sharp as you need it to be. Some axes are even used to cape deer!

i don't know about everyone else, but i really like it when he forges the blade from the metal himself, rather than just cutting it out from a slab of steel. i think that forging it yourself make the weapon feel more authentic and more like a true piece of art. great job on the axe, the damascus blade looks so beautiful.

I do miss this guy. Reforged is cool, but it's not quite the same as this guy. Absolute legend.
Without a doubt the most effective and practical movie weapon I've seen made. It seems a medium amount of effort gives devastating results.

That's going to take forever, he'll have to make Narsil, brake it, then re-forge it.

Stop cutting through glass and ceramic...you should've simply cut through a log or something, so really show it's efficiency.

I absolutely agree. I really wish they'd stop cutting through brittle materials. They need to cut things which show the sharpness of the blade. I can pick up a stick and break a glass vase in the same way they do so it's not a very impressive demo.

I think it is completely awesome that you forged this axe out of Damascus! I just think it makes it seem so much more authentic as to how a Middle Earth dwarvish "smithy" might have forged this weapon. Plus the Damascus looks awesome!
