As a Yemeni I love this build and the only thing I'd point out is that you can't have a jambiyah without a sheath, we have a saying in yemen"if you pull a jambiyah out of its sheath it doesn't go back till blood is shed"(it's a rough translation but same message) it's so people don't go around waving their janbiyah if they don't have the balls to use it. Though people don't go by the saying anymore because lots of people are interested in the janbiyah so they ask you if they can see it don't go asking very old Yemenis if you can see their janbiyah since the only time you see the blade is when they perform traditional dances or in battle
Wow, that was such an intricate build and the result is pretty much half weapon half jewellery. Probably prohibitively expensive to commission but wow does it look great.
I think this may be one of the best builds you've done so far. Exquisite attention to detail, and the processes used were a true joy to watch. And Ilya is a nearly memorizing blacksmith to watch work. I always enjoy watching any episode he's a part of. Thank you to all the guys in the shop for continuing to do these for us gaming fans, as well as the mechanical/engineering fans watching true artists perform what is becoming a lost art.
Ilya is so amazing, ingraving that pattern all by hand is such a beautiful form of art that few people can do well, but he just does it like it's nothing. Also just an amazing all round smith in every way!
DAMN! That is one of the finest pieces of art I have seen from a knife maker! Talk about skills! Love the Jambiya and the whole video that displayed the beauty of it all! Thank you so much for inspiring so many!
All I learned in Murrican school was that Germany tried to get Mexico to fight Murrica and we found out and said "Don't do that" and apparently Mexico didn't do that so, uh, I guess it worked?
Germany tried to get them to attack the US to help keep America out of the war. In return they promised to help Mexico retake the land that was lost in the Mexican American war. The message is known as the Zimmerman Note, but of course Mexico refused and the rest is history.
Smithing Company well some of the weapons like the Warden Sword and the Viking Axe are relatively special but they could also make the Warden Viking and Samurai helmets! I think it would be amazing.
Illya's my favorite, he knows so many awesome skills and makes such mind-bogglingly beautiful work. When I realized that he was the winner of the spiked shield episode of Forged in Fire, it made me like him even more. Easily one of the most beautiful things on Forged in Fire. He's also Russian so that automatically makes him awesome. Such a skilled individual, I hope to one day learn at least half the skills he has mastered.
The fantasy and sci-fi builds are fun, but the historical and historically-influenced (Kill Bill, etc.) builds are the BEST! Anything where Ilya gets to get his nerd on and demonstrate as many traditional techniques as possible, really. Love seeing everyone do things a little more old-fashioned. :D
can you do more Arab and middle eastern builds ? you made plenty of barely curved swords (Katana), so I think it would be awesome to see the furthest of the curve spectrum with scimitars. the word Jambia has two parts, Jamb (or Janb) with means side, and (ia) which can be translated into the suffix (ly), so it literally means sidely, it has its name because Yemeni people would have that dagger on their side, and it was used as a side weapon (like pistols today) as swords and spears were the main weapons, many people in Yemen still wear Janbia today as a decoration today.

***** You clearly know nothing of the vast amount of awesome hammers and axes from video games/animes etc. Let's take Gimli's axe, once you've seen that you definitely haven't seen them all. Also, there are amazing historical or mythological builds they could do. They already did Mjolnir, so why not Frost Giant weapons as well?
***** Also, let's talk about hammers for a moment shall we? Smough's hammer is nothing like the Megaton hammer, which is nothing like Monster Hunter hammers, which is nothing like Asteroth's many war hammers from the Soulcalibur series. Yeah, I think I've proved my point.
This dagger is actually really cool and beautiful. And it must be really expensive too because of the amount of silver, gold and moonstones used in it.
Crucible steel like they made it is certainly worth more than $2.50. Of course, I can pick up scrap 1080 for $0.50/lb where I live, so it's certainly reasonably to say that this quantity steel in general would only be a couple bucks.
*Destreza*, a rapier from Warframe! *Reedemer*, a gun-blade from Warframe! *Dakra Prime*, a longsword from Warframe! TAKE A DAMN LOOK AT WARFRAME'S ARMORY!
Omg yes! It's my dream to get somethingike this made for my wedding. My hubby is part Yemen and he never got an opportunity to experience the tradition of passing this down the line. Now that we have a son, I would love to surprise him with this so he can pass it down to our son. I don't even know where to begin to find a good blacksmith though.
Try looking for master blacksmiths, the American Blacksmith Society has about 150 last time I checked but I dont know if any of them are familiar with Arabic weapons
i dont think anyone would... especially if he was aloud to walk around with a machete... danny: hey... you followinng? *slams machete on desk* student: *wakes up shiting his pants*
considering Magi is set in a middle east like setting, using many of the One Thousand and One Nights stories as a basis for many of the characters, which is middle eastern and southern asia in origin....then it looks like that for a reason

This knife and the Hellfighter bolo are the only two knives i use in bf1 , still trying to get the puzzle piece knife but damn those puzzle pieces are hard to get.
It's not very historically accurate though. The traditional Jambiya daggers, the ones actually used in WW1 by the Kurdish, have *wooden* handles. The one in Battlefield 1 also has a WOODEN handle and a somewhat more traditional decoration. Silver ones with a decoration vaguely similar to the one in the video (which makes no sense in terms of historic context) were ceremonial pieces only. Not used in combat. I see the point of the video and making a cool dagger, but this isn't really accurate by any means. Ironically the dagger is named Lawrence of Arabia dagger in Battlefield 1, but in reality the actual LoA daggers look nothing even like that. The real Lawrence of Arabia daggers were *never* actually used in combat, but were given as a gift to Lawrence of Arabia by Sherif Nasir after the attack on Aqaba. It seems the design of the 'Lawrence of Arabia dagger' in Battlefield 1 was based upon the Jambiya featured in the Deadliest Warrior show and not anything historic. It's pathetic how poorly researched Battlefield 1 is. Even worse, the whole heroic character of Lawrence of Arabia is wildly romanticised and exaggerated in the movies and by his own commentary after the war. His role in actually defeating any enemy is quite likely hugely exaggerated. He was merely a spectator. A strategic advisor. A spy. He also claimed to have been taken prisoner by Turks at one point, but that's highly questionable. He also did not even get a ceremonial Arab dress until he got the daggers after Aqaba was taken and frankly as evident from him leaving the daggers behind he did not actually care about them at all. The whole image of him with a ceremonial Arab dress makes no sense. He did not even 'became the bedouin' until after Damascus was captured and even then he mostly just was an opportunist in what he wore and did. He was the closest thing to a con man any spy could justifiably be, as apparent by him trying to get into other branches of the army under false names. The Jambiya certainly was *not* his close combat weapon of choice as often falsely suggested. Heck, he probably did not even kill people throughout the entire war, he had zero battlefield training. His fame did not come until *after the war*. If anything, the Lawrence of Arabia movies and a handful of historic photographs taken out of context made him famous, not his actual 'heroism'. He actually has all the characteristics of a pacifist. He wanted independence for his Arab friends. He actually refused being bestowed knighthood by King George V in 1918 because of how the borders were arbitrarily drawn by Britain and France and this Arab independence, against promises, was denied completely. This very activism for Arab independence and his ideas on *preventing another world war* might have actually caused his 'death by motorcycle accident' (murder), although we will never know. Read up on Catchpole and the whole investigation by MI-5 and the whole circumstances surrounding his death and we might be dealing with a strategic elimination of a perceived 'war hero'. Anyway, sorry for going off on a tangent. I hate it when history is polluted with post-war propaganda and half-truths, some of which quite easily uncovered.
Well, most of people here are for the craftsmanship not for the game its sponsored by. Sure the battlefield part will help the views, but i don't think it will be that much of a difference.
Yatsuhashi's weapon wouldn't be unfeasible at all. But it'd be cooler to see something like crescent rose. Myrtenaster would be pretty easy for them too.
rwby is a series made by roosterteeth. it is currently starting its 4th season. the name is actualy the first letters of the 4 main caracters and their respective colors.
Isaac Plumbo No sge doesn't at all, she's just goes back to the upside down, he leaves her favourite food for her out by the portal in the woods for her. She will definitely be back if we get another series
You're assuming she dies. It never showed her dying. And considering we're dealing with two different dimensions, it's more than feasible she lived. So fuck off troll.
Genius Vs Idiots I kinda doubt it. Aside from making a sword blade that's in two parts yet is still battle quality, they have to do that AND make a two stage (for both blades) extension/retraction dual action system. If that's even possible, they would likely need outside expertise on the mechanical side of things.
If they do build Crescent Rose, I would have to argue that they make it static in its fully-extended mode. A fully transforming version would be impossible without advanced tech like they have in RWBY. Seriously though, they should make the re-forged Crocea Mors from Volume 4 Season 1. Spoiler alert if you don't have a First account, sorry.
Oh, I was expecting a machete when I've seen the thumbnail :D
My thoughts exactly.
Zoltán Béres same lol
Zoltán Béres same
you mean that movie machete?
Such a missed oppertunity
Jesus Christ. If Danny Trejo was my history teacher, I sure would have paid more attention during class.
Or you would have gotten a lot more than detention.
Rui Ning Wang today kids we will be looking at AN ACTUAL CIVIL WAR CANNON
"You see this, kid? This is the kind of knife that I like, cuts straight to the point."
Agreed.
that would be a great idea, but we don't have the budget.
17:50 "I like this one; cuts straight to the point."
Such a missed opportunity to say _Almost as good as a machete_ :(
omg hahahaha xD
I can't believe his wearing this shirt!!!!
XD

"'Till next time, stay sharp."
You gotta love that line.
Wow
Now that's fuckin sick craftsmanship
go to 10:55 and pause.
That's a craftsman's stare

God that steel grain is so beautiful. So is everything else about this build, just amazing all around!
As a Yemeni I love this build and the only thing I'd point out is that you can't have a jambiyah without a sheath, we have a saying in yemen"if you pull a jambiyah out of its sheath it doesn't go back till blood is shed"(it's a rough translation but same message)
it's so people don't go around waving their janbiyah if they don't have the balls to use it. Though people don't go by the saying anymore because lots of people are interested in the janbiyah so they ask you if they can see it
don't go asking very old Yemenis if you can see their janbiyah since the only time you see the blade is when they perform traditional dances or in battle
A few years later, people will recognize another element Herbert took inspiration from Arab culture for his Fremen!
Ilya forging while wearing an Ouran High School Host Club shirt is hilarious tbh.
I just noticed that and i cant stop laughing.
I was about to say! HE'S ONE OF US!!!
I love that show
Wow, that was such an intricate build and the result is pretty much half weapon half jewellery. Probably prohibitively expensive to commission but wow does it look great.
Just imagine how much one would pay for just the steel alone.
solosniper86 it will cost you an arm a leg and both your bollocks.
Nicholas 809 lol. I bet.
With real wootz steel too lol yeah that is a 5000 dollar piece easy

You know, seeing Danny Trejo hear talking abit about WW1 brings up a small question: WHAT WAS MEXICO DOING DURING WW1?
All I learned in Murrican school was that Germany tried to get Mexico to fight Murrica and we found out and said "Don't do that" and apparently Mexico didn't do that so, uh, I guess it worked?
Germany tried to get them to attack the US to help keep America out of the war. In return they promised to help Mexico retake the land that was lost in the Mexican American war. The message is known as the Zimmerman Note, but of course Mexico refused and the rest is history.

This means
You guys will be sponsored by Ubisoft to produce weapons and armor from FOR HONOR!!!
I really hope this is true please!!!!

Smithing Company well some of the weapons like the Warden Sword and the Viking Axe are relatively special but they could also make the Warden Viking and Samurai helmets! I think it would be amazing.
Ross Jaret They could make some armor and maybe even the Conqueror's shield.

Illya is my spirit animal.
Which is a damn good show. Quite the funny cast of characters.
can you do more Arab and middle eastern builds ?
you made plenty of barely curved swords (Katana), so I think it would be awesome to see the furthest of the curve spectrum with scimitars.
the word Jambia has two parts, Jamb (or Janb) with means side, and (ia) which can be translated into the suffix (ly), so it literally means sidely, it has its name because Yemeni people would have that dagger on their side, and it was used as a side weapon (like pistols today) as swords and spears were the main weapons, many people in Yemen still wear Janbia today as a decoration today.

Jambiya Knife... so its a Dagger Knife? Kinda like the Sahara Desert AKA the desert desert.
Well in the game it's just called Jambiya, and technically the Sahara Desert is supposed to just be The Sahara.
well the exact translation to jambiya is "side" since it was worn on the side

please make the daedric greatsword
yea
They're won't do this because they had even done a daedric battle axe.
it was actually the orkish battleaxe
The daedric battle axe came a while after the orcish one.
my mistake i completely forgot they did that one
With RWBY season 4 out I hope you finally do a RWBY build, something like Weiss Schnee's Myrtenaster or Pyrrah's Miló and Akoúo̱
Better make something pronounceable
Jaune's new sword is pretty dope too.
I'd love for them to make Miló and Akoúo̱ if not for how cool they are for paying respects to Pyrrah
Wait RWBY is being continued? Thought the main animator or creator died.
Yeah Monty died before volume three iirc, it was his wish that it would continue though
Could you make Blade of Woe from Elder Scrolls Online? :)
YEEEES!
good idea
Yeah, that would be awesome! I've always liked the Blade of Woe, and it would be really interesting to see them make it.

Jake Driver Ha! Already have both pieces. Bartek Bludgeon OP
Google "Lawrence of arabia dagger". Seems accurate to me.
Nevermind. I didn't noticed the 2nd paragraph. Still cool build though + making of the handle was pretty cool.
KarelKCZ No worries. I don't think many people would really care much when playing Battlefield 1 anyway hahah. :)
Well, most of people here are for the craftsmanship not for the game its sponsored by. Sure the battlefield part will help the views, but i don't think it will be that much of a difference.
KarelKCZ Yeah, I guess you're right!
Still waiting for a weapon from RWBY.
Lol, keep waiting
Yatsuhashi's weapon wouldn't be unfeasible at all. But it'd be cooler to see something like crescent rose. Myrtenaster would be pretty easy for them too.
what does that even stand for
rwby is a series made by roosterteeth. it is currently starting its 4th season. the name is actualy the first letters of the 4 main caracters and their respective colors.
They have never made live firearm yet though, and the family Arc gear is rather bland
I am Arabic and I have my Arabic dagger you did guys very good job and its perfect
Samurai Jack's Katana please. Oh the childhood.
At certain points in this video, the music sounded like it was from Stranger Things
AverageJoe El dies at the end.
Ben Potter i was trying to do an anti-spoiler. Don't ruin it.
Loving Danny Trejo making an appearance, But I'm still hoping for Warframe weapons, Like the Fragor, Dual Ethers, Skana, and many others.
dragnridr05 my fav is the galatine like this would be so awesome to see my first OP weapon made xD
I'm hoping they are going to make the jat kittag, but anything really would be awesome, maybe a nikana?
Danny Trejo!!!!! Haha, I love this show
A Oran host club shirt... You're now my favorite blacksmith, haha.
Genji's Shamada sword from Overwatch!!!
I like how Danny Trejo is looks constantly angry
Baltimore Knife & Sword AND Danny Trejo!! Too... Much... Awesome!
Make Young Wolf's Howl and the other exotics from destiny
With the wolves remember ornament
Aces of Athens not the young wolfs howl. make the ascendant sword (sword of crota) or raze lighter first
The iron battleaxe
Hagrid the original man at arms guy made the iron battle axe its on the destiny official page
Dark Drinker or Raze lighter would be better tbh
Galatine Prime, Orthos Prime or Boltace from WARFRAME would be real nice!
onni storm or anything really
onni storm Galatine OP
I'd love to see some Warframe weapons on this show!
Corvo's mask and sword!
Genius Vs Idiots your right they should do that
Omg please. That would be amazing
The blade is physically impossible, sorry.
Luke Silver It is I've already seen one, only difference is that the one I saw was made from plastic or something like that.
Make some African weapons! There is always a crazy design among them!
yguh high guhhigu hufkhi hygu gugufuyu gufuhugy hyguutuicugihfj
Kopesh or whatever, that reverse sickle sword from Egypt, all time favorite
OMG! Ilya's Ouran T-shirt xDDD
I knew he was going to use the dagger. He is Machete after all.
And why do people hate this???? I guess there will always be people who dislike something. I think I only saw one video that had no dislikes.
So, you have the man iconically known as Machete. And you don't make him a machete?
I love that Ilya's "little hammer" is clearly hand made and is damascus!
Yes, Illya, I too am a fan of the Hosting of the Clubs show
Super Janemba sword from Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn
CrimsonMist 101 oh that would be awesome
It would
CrimsonMist 101 yes!!
This guys a legend. He even said "dicks out for harambe"
This is the most beautiful blade I've ever seen. Incredible ♡
Thanks as a Yemeni I’m proud to see people make such a beautiful blade
So where is RWBY Scyte??
Isuachi Deibiddo neglected and forgotten, sadly
but there is new serie... :D
:D :D :D I have it :P
Isuachi Deibiddo
Then you know *EXACTLY* what I'm talking about.
Never thought Machete would need to tell me to stay sharp.
Cool episode and beautiful dagger. (There's machete joke here somewhere.)
Valtteri Manala
Sure is. (Yep. But I can't find it.)
Ilya outshines all others in every episode !!! .... Guy's got some serious talent...
