Influences are precious for sure ~ I admire Daniel and his display of influences... i think of G Jones' words to those who would carry on the love of country music ~ I feel Daniel is doing just that. My hope is he's writing and getting ready to do another country album and hangout in country from then on... but if he's anything like B. Dylan (which I think is is!)... he'll be exploring for a time come... Come home Daniel with the Trilliums!

I didn't notice that there is a a similar sound to Gram Parsons at first but there is a little in his voice. Some of Gram Parsons songs / bands used the pedal steel in a similar way with similar tones also, which seems to really bring this out.

Perhaps you think it sounds forced cause it's so rare to see and hear authentic country nowadays, as opposed to "bad rock music with a fiddle" (quote by Tom Petty). Check out Lindi Ortega and see what you think, she's another of the few "real country" singers from this era that I listen to.

'Marriage' is probably one of my top 20 favourite albums ever. Though, unlike you, I really enjoy Romano's solo stuff a great deal. I had a nice 15 minute chat with him back in 2010 and he seem agitated and slightly angry that I brought up AiB at one point, so I left the subject alone. I would say they are done for the very foreseeable future.

That guitar is fuckin sick.
Yeah it's pretty awesome, but to be honest, that pick guard is muffling the sound of the guitar. You shoudn't mess around with the soundboard like that. A friend growing up had his acoustic painted(really cool) by a Friend and you could tell a noticeable difference between non-painted and painted.

'Marriage", yes, I would definitely have to agree with you. Probably even higher, for me, than top 20. But hey, that's my "growing up" stage. I've never been any more pumped than when I saw AiB for the first time. Words cannot even explain... Drugs cannot compare.... Bit of a bummer.
I like me some Tim Barry, if I may compare, but his solo stuff, to me, seems a little forced. Dunno... Maybe I'm completely wrong.
