In terms of hacking pockets: Are they still only considered for situations where straight pockets are not possible (as in, always go straight pockets, unless you can't), or do people today put them on sports jackets for any and all situations, even when they are not needed?

I personally like the double breasted jacket, and I believe they are coming back into style. An interesting piece of trivia is that the vents on the mens jacket was for when horses were ridden, and allowed the wearer to get on and off the horse more comfortable.
I have a note for the lining part. Actually Bemberg and Rayon (and viscose) are the same thing, just different brand names and such. They are all a natural-based material that is made from the cellulose of wood pulp or cotton. They are all good at breathing. The one that you don't wanna go with is the polyester ones. Polyester and other whole-synthetic fibers are the ones with bad breathability. Generally speaking.

What is The differensiert between a suit jacket and a sports jacket. I can guess on some fabrics, like that there are no such thing like a velvet sports jacket? But are there any big differences besides that? Length, sholders, pockets, buttons and so on? This is probably obvious in The U.S, but not so simple for people from other countries to understand. I find it curious that you consider double vent rare to find in off-the-rack stores. Frankly I don't know if I've ever seen anything except double vent in off-the-rack stores. Every suit I've ever bought has them. Maybe it's different location to location, I'm in Canada.

The lapel pin buttonhole I understood was for a hat cord. Rayon is made from cellulose. Bemberg (trade name ) also known as Cupro is a type of Rayon and is fine. Kilometrage may vary with Rayons made by other processes. Polyester shoudn't be worn if one want a suit to breathe.
Great video as always. I have been thinking about your comment on that most off the rack suit jackets are single-vented. Perhaps this is an american thing? Where I live most suit jackets that are off the rack even quite cheap ones are almost always double-vented. In some cases they might be single-vented yes but mostly double vented. Or maybe it is the other way around that this is much more common up here in the northen Europe? Then again single-vented jackets are much harder to make fit properly for most men.

I needed a suit jacket for interviews, presentations, etc. They only one I found there that fit me was a tux jacket with a satin lapel and button covered in fabric. Would it be appropriate to wear this in business or would it be too tacky or something?

Can you offer some insight on how to "properly" wear a boutonniere using the lapel button hole? I have always assumed that the stem of the flower is intended to go into the button hole and be secured out of sight, but the image you displayed in this video shows the stem placed against the outside of the lapel.

I'm in love with double breasted jackets. I'm from Mexico and people here don't really know that kind of suits. I'm a lawyer student and every time people see me they reconginze me because of my well fitted double-breasted suit.
gamlagubbengren I mean, most others will probably be in T-shirts/hoodies and jeans, so you'll probably stand out a bit, but that's not a bad thing. If you like it and you're confident dressing like that then go for it and people will get used to it. Besides, if you're going to a new school or are likely going to be making new friends, it'll probably be easier social/peer-pressure wise to just dress like that as soon as they meet you, rather than them getting to know you when you just wear T-shirts, changing the way you dress after that, and then having them likely question why you start dressing so nice all of a sudden. Bottom line: You might be considered "overdressed" to a lot of other 9th graders but in the end, who cares? Do what makes you feel happy and confident. If someone picks you apart for dressing "too nice" then they weren't worth getting to know anyway.

Regarding tne lapel buttonhole, the guys over the gents lounge said it dates back to the time when hats were a standard part of the suit, and was stitched so men could attach their hats to the jacket to avoid their hats to fall to the ground specially in windy places like Chicago, but I guess you could find a ton of fun fact versions to it if you go to google.

I heard that people (especially in military) actually used to pull up/rolled up their cuffs in the suit jackets when they work. Now the cuffs are usually closed for the off the rack ones. So people who have a functional cuffs intentionally unbutton the first button to show that it's a functional cuff. British call it subtlety. Okay you finally tell us about your "left" pocket thing......
this is some great advice. i went to a thrift store after watching this video and was able to identify a very nice jacket among the rest of the items on. the shelf. it fit me well, so i bought it for $20 and took it home to find that it was a 100% wool Saks Fifth Signature jacket that lists on their websit,e for over $1300. i don't really worry about brand, was just looking for quality and this video helped me find an amazing deal. thanks to Antonio for this and other great videos.
For my suit and sport coat I go for either a soft shoulder style (mostly for suits) or an entirely unconstructed shoulder. I have plenty of mass on my shoulders and trapezius so I don't need padding, And I like hack pockets the most in contrary to flat pockets, but that is just my preference. Nice video and please keep them coming!

The other day I was browsing on a store and I saw a "double-breasted" suit that had it's buttons stitched in almost a V angle and it closed just on the lowest one, and the shoulders were a bit notched upwards. Oddest off-the-rack looking suit I've seen to date. Also, great video, I love whenever they're just about a single subject.

Real Men Real Style Thanks Antonio I'll need it. For 85$ I'll be happy if it arrives in one piece. If it'll make it through a wedding and a couple of nights out with heavy drinking I'll consider it a success. Might even try spraying it with water-resistant spray to keep it from staining. Hopefully I'll have enough money next year for a real suit.

***** Also keep in mind that the Doctor's suit is about as far away from a business or formal suit as you can get and still call it a suit. Made from cotton, four buttons, back belt, and worn with converses; it's meant to be a trendy fashion item. Basically many of the rules here are for classic styling. Like Tennant's suit for casual attire? Go for your life! Just don't wear it to a business meeting.

Rasmus Hammarlund Single vented are the least expensive option - it gives the wearer a boxy appearance.

The bottom of the jacket should fit inside your cupped palm.

And yes, I have one button unbuttoned on the cuff to show it has functioning buttons

For my suit and sport coat I go for either a soft shoulder style (mostly for suits) or an entirely unconstructed shoulder. I have plenty of mass on my shoulders and trapezius so I don't need padding, And I like hack pockets the most in contrary to flat pockets, but that is just my preference.

What is the use/function of sleeve buttons?

The other day I was browsing on a store and I saw a "double-breasted" suit that had it's buttons stitched in almost a V angle and it closed just on the lowest one, and the shoulders were a bit notched upwards. Oddest off-the-rack looking suit I've seen to date.

Thanks Antonio I'll need it. For 85$ I'll be happy if it arrives in one piece. If it'll make it through a wedding and a couple of nights out with heavy drinking I'll consider it a success.
Might even try spraying it with water-resistant spray to keep it from staining.
Hopefully I'll have enough money next year for a real suit.

***** Bad? No, the problem is that they're directly proportional to the height of the person wearing them, so if you're short, they will make you look even shorter.

Also keep in mind that the Doctor's suit is about as far away from a business or formal suit as you can get and still call it a suit. Made from cotton, four buttons, back belt, and worn with converses; it's meant to be a trendy fashion item. Basically many of the rules here are for classic styling. Like Tennant's suit for casual attire? Go for your life! Just don't wear it to a business meeting.
