My grandma used to make persimmon pudding at Christmas time. We just went to Costco today and my son insisted on getting a bag of persimmons. Hope he likes them. You have such wonderful helpers. The kids soup looked so good and they all help so well with the baby. It’s so sweet. Happy holidays. 😊

When they smoke big briskets (hunks of beef)… the edges get more chard and crop during the process. When they trim everything up before serving… traditionally, they discarded those pieces. Some really like those, so places began selling them. Trying to explain what a burnt end is. Lol I love how it’s different from various parts of the country. It’s the same, but different rubs they put in before smoking and the sauces of course. That was very nice of your family to send all of that. I sent my daughter some once and it was such a treat for them. I like gifts of food. Merry Christmas! Oh! Burnt ends have become very popular and quite the delicacy non last few years. … when they slice the brisket it’s so yummy. It’s a big piece of beef and it’s so tender and juicy , the slices. It might have a little fat on edges and a little bark. If you ever try the brisket itself, it’s good too. Bbq has gotten very pricey here. I bought my husband a smoker one year for Christmas. Actually two. One for fish and one for meat. They stood upright and didn’t take up a lot of room. Kept on deck with covers. Might be something that would work well for y’all. Seems like it was propane, but you out little pieces of wood in bottom. Soaked the wood in water overnight so it didn’t catch on fire. Almost chips, but bigger. Now I am going to go get some bbq for dinner. 🤠
My husband's family is Slovak. When my mother in law made chicken soup she put whole carrots, a whole unpeeled onion, large chunks of potatoes, whole chicken breasts, and a bunch of parsley tied together, oh and also a beef marrow bone. After everything was cooked, she discarded the onion, parsley and marrow bone. The chicken, carrots and potatoes were put in a separate bowl. Small noodles were cooked and stored separately. To eat the broth and noodles are eaten together but the chicken and vegetables are eaten as a separate course.

Yay! Netta gained enough weight! Each nursing baby is different. It can help to encourage a 2nd or even a 3rd “let down” during a feed, which brings higher fat milk. It takes time, though. The up side is some extra mama rest time. 🥰
