  • This is part 1 of the hydraulic pressure line replacement on the 1973 Ford 3000 Tractor. It covers the removal. There were some variations in this line over the life of the 3000 Tractor but I believe this to be the most common. As of posting the line and compression fittings are still available from New Holland or CNH or whatever the have become at the moment. The fitting Threaded into the rear axle is no longer produced and running low on stock.

Very informative (both videos). It was helpful to get my line replaced. I took your advice and ordered OEM fitting for both sides. Did not want to go through the process more than once using the cheaper aftermarket fittings.

I put a regular compression ring on the line using the compression fitting nut etc to clamp it down on the line then cutting the nut off so I could reuse the original nut that threads into the pump, then ran the nut down on the ring and rubber seal shoved on the ring. Works great. Definitely not blowing it out

I had to replace this line. In the process the nut to the flow tube to the pump need replaced. I cant find a part number for it. Do you know where I can find it. I tried a dealer no luck. Thanks

When I first started on this tractor there were parts diagrams online. They seem to have disappeared. A good New Holland dealer should have access to the part numbers and even a locator service. If your local dealer isn't helpful you can try these guys www.willardseq.com/ don't bother with the website they are controlled by New Holland and aren't much help, give the parts department a call.

I've changed the pressure line once and the compression fittings too many times. Agree, it's a poor design. I removed the foot rest after removing the two springs. That way you don't have to remove the pedals although you do have to remove the pins from the clevises. My parking brake is missing. I discovered, before I did any damage, that the after market compression nut has a different thread. After buying the oem nut I still had a leak. I backed the compression nut back out a little and lightly hammered the tube in as far as it would go then re-tightened the nut. No leaks so far. It's a real pita.

I really like the tractor overall but the hydraulic system leaves a lot to be desired. I believe the parking brake bracket is in the way of line removal as well but I shot this video quite awhile ago and can't really tell from the video.

I am working on same and am looking at ways to convert it to a standard hydraulic fitting and flexible line.
It f that doesn’t work out, I’m curious if you know the part number for the line you replaced. And where did you get it? Thanks
