General Advice: - The Big Sad Lock information: every 20th attack on the boss causes it to do a map wide shockwave. It attacks the last TWO deployed operators. Every 60 seconds = shield up. The shield summons more enemies + buffs their movement speed. 8 minutes is the enrage timer. Continuously summons enemies. Stronger variants appear later on. - Blank Suicide Note is STRONGLY recommended. It stops boss regen. - The BSN artifact is obtained through Encounters. Try to hit up as many as possible along the way. - Physical damage is preferred on this stage. Arts required on the right side. - Good artifacts to have: ATK, ATKSPD, HP increase, DEF/RES, HP regen, SP regen and any enemy debuffs. - The idea is to kill it ASAP. The longer you draw it out, the more painful it is. - Have lots of Life coming into this stage. High possibility of leaks. - Medics are essential for survival. Boost their health and ATK. - Medic skills with low cooldown is preferred. - For the most part you are spamming skills whenever they are available. - Without the Blank Suicide Note it is extremely difficult unless you have ultra, giga DPS. - Operator suggestions: Chalter S3, Thorns S3, Silverash S3, Bagpipe S2, Specter S2, Hellagur S1/S2, Cutter S1, Chen S2, Frank S2, Kal'tsit S2/S3, Schwarz S3, Eunectes S2, Blaze S2. - Debuff like Shamare would be nice to have.
May I add that if you have insane ASPD because of the collectibles, face thorns down because his corrosion talent counts as an attack instance so it will count towards the shockwave attack every 20th attack. This also help you setup your team or deploy him later when you have most ops placed -Myrtle is needed if you want to clear it with high ASPD -Collectibles/Artifacts: Spinach/No. 73 Reagent/Wrath of Siracusans(60/65/100% ATK buff for 1 second after skill activates) good combo for the high ASPD buffs -Operators: NTR Knight S1(E2 Optional but recommended due to def ignore talent), Guard Amiya(for atk and def buffs)
Pallas S1M3 can solo this boss extremely quick even with not much of dmg boost artifacts and no blank note, if you're going for the Big Sad i reccomend people actually get her from support at the start if possible
Damn you made this look easy. My artifact luck has been very bad and clearing this stage has been a nightmare. Also throns may not be such a good option for this boss his poison also counts as hits and if u have ASPD the boss will be blowing up multiple times in repeat. Either way awesome work with the guide as always
another tip : you can only get blank suicide note through an encounter after you get the useless scissors (you can get them through an encounter aswell, the ones with killing bunnies, just shield the puppet 3 times)
This was super helpful. The healing defender placement and where u put specter for dps was clutch in my run. Thank you for making this. Failed this stage so many times and I got a good set of artifacts and a strong team (like FIVE 6 star temporary recruitments) and if I was going to do it it was now or never lol
Cant imagine how many attempts it took to get a viable low op team to showcase much less get the bear and the note all in a row you sir have the patience of a saint cheers:)

Great guide. I pretty much did the same thing except I used Chalter near Perfurmer, and I got the +3sp battery for her. I didn't get lucky with aspd until late in my run, so it was only up whatever 20 ingots gives you. Rip Freddy Fazbeat. He's jump scared his last castle.
Finally got around to trying this and I beat it, thank you for informing me about reprieve and how to get scissors, I wouldn't have known otherwise tbh
Surtur S3 helps for shredding BSL's shield and DPS when your Boss Killing Op's skills are on cooldown. I ended up replacing the medics on the right side with Skadi Alter S2M3, which gave more damage to my Chen Alter and Surtur. It also allowed my E2 Bagpipe with S2M3 to solo the right lane. I also used a shifter on the left side with the +2 shift strength to push the enemies off. Mine at the time was Shaw at E1. EDIT: Beating this boss on Formal Investigation (Normal) or Calamity Face-off (Hard) unlocks the collectibles to get the third boss and third ending.
I think I saw that clear, too. Thanks for confirming it's possible with your comment. (My Mudrock is only M1 yet, but at least it's a good idea bringing her at all)
I got Swire as a Temp Op and I chose this boss in a whim. I didn't expect to win the run, but man her ASPD talent really helped me and got my first win against this boss. On my second run I got a borrowed Schwarz and and Skalter S3. It was baffling how they quickly shredded the boss hahahaha!
after pure suffering an entire month in the end all i needed was a goldenglow(tried with eyja works the same) thorns, nightingale, the survivalist debuff and 15ish hp. Never thought survivalist out of all of them would be my true life belt out of this ending.(if possible add up more nukers like SA and Surtr)
first time getting this alternate ending which was kinda by accident. I wanted to finish this run to get the 'complete 5 runs with caster/specialists' so my artifacts are focused on arts Tip: dont go for attack speed artifacts. With about 55ish extra attack speed, thorns and pallas decimated my entire team.
I seriously thought that you had more 6* other than Thorns. But you did, on normal difficulty nonetheless. Damn and here I am struggling how to get through the last floor. It's either because my ops scattered all over the place or my artifact sucks. Or both. EDIT: I finished this ending. I didn't get BSN so I got a lil bit panicked there. But somehow I managed, probably because my main DPS which is Ch'otgun, Blaze, and Kal'tsit. God bless Ecko's video 🙏
I just encountered Sad Lock and I was not prepared lol. I didn't know the puppet leads to Lock's ending and I was readying my squad for Phantom. The first time I had great luck on collectibles too.
Pointing Thorns to the right should be classified a felony. Without the Medic +HP relic Ptilopsis will just die before she even has enough SP to use her skill.
Finally managed to beat this damn bear, used Guard Amiya with Ch'alter and Jaye, luckily I got a couple of good artifacts like all operators start with 18 SP and every 5 Originium ingot increase aspd.
Agreed, big physical damage is absolutely the way to go! It's not just about maximizing DPS, it's about maximizing both DPS and DPH (damage-per-hit). Schwarz is the ace for this fight. Also Big Sad Lock starts spawning gargoyles around 3 and half minutes which makes laneholding a lot harder, so it is recommended to have enough DPS to finish him off before that happens. Here is Big Sad Lock on the hardest possible difficulty (Relicless Hard Mode) to illustrate this: th-cam.com/video/WnQWl6KbX2Q/w-d-xo.html

My boss shield just WONT go down...like, never. To clarify (since im using your video step by step) at your min 2 i already got the enemyes form min 4, and the do a lot more damage. what i am missing here? why his shield dont go down? why he summon those stronger monsters so soon?
I got 4 medics(2 aoe,2 st) added with 2 artifacts on healing effectiveness, needless to say nobody died cuz heals were greatly increased but still lost since i lacked dmg buffs and ops and failed to acquire the blank note, it kept regenerating and it exploded
