Just wanted to say THANK YOU!
S-VCM eliminated the grinding noise (vibration) I mentioned (I can still feel something very small slightly, but it has 135K). The installation was very simple, but I really appreciate your clip (nice to watch the clip before). Thank you again.

I just installed the S-VCM on my 2011 Honda Odyssey (75,930 mi.) this morning and then took it for a test drive. The engine seems to be running smoother and I can tell there is more power there when going from just cruising to accelerating. I paid $95.00 plus $11.00 shipping for this item and I was a bit disappointed when I got it. It is quite small and there isn't much to it. It comes with detailed installation instructions which insist you must follow in strict order. When I did that I found that after using the tiny zip ties provided I could not connect the S-VCM to the sensor because it wasn't long enough. I had to cut the ties, connect to the sensor, and then use my own zip ties (recommended) to secure the electrical harnesses.

I've got one of the S-VCM ordered for my 2010 Pilot. I bought the car a few weeks back and noticed my exhaust tips get some black around them in the few weeks I've owned the car and started researching what would cause that. I didn't know anything about the cylinders cutting out for ECO mode but this VCM stuff seems like a bad idea if it makes an otherwise good engine burn oil. Anyway, I hope my S-VCM gets here soon!

Great video. From reading the comments it looks like you took this off and just went with the 82ohm resistor method. I put the simple 82ohm resistor in from a kit on Amazon and it has worked great for a couple months but yesterday out of the blue on the highway the ECO light started coming on. The strange thing was ECO was coming on when I was accelerating not coasting like it used to normally work. I was thinking about putting one in like you have in the video because the simple 82ohm resistor method doesn't hook up to the battery like yours did. Do you have any suggestions?

The problem is the far back bank 3 cylinder are made into a compressor no spark or valve action but it forces compression with no where to go except pass the rings, causing the rings to fail and pass oil causing oil consumption and excessive blowby. Will this enable a P0128 overtime? Especially when it gets cold outside in the winter? I have a 2014 Honda Odyssey. I got it about 11 months ago and it had 106,000 miles on it. I now have 131,000 and every time I come to a stop sign and it down shifts pretty rough. Every time I let off the gas between 40-10 mph. I’m pretty sure this is the ego kicking on and off because when I first start the engine cold the first five minutes of driving around when it’s below middle and the echo is not turning on it drives really smooth and I am seriously considering installing one of these. Is there an adjustment that needs to be made between seasons? How does this thing work? Is it electromagnetic?

My s-vcm controller was defective. When I tried to start my 2012 Pilot after installing, the engine didn’t want to turn over. It finally did after 3 tries but idled at a very low 500 rpm. The idle lined out close to normal after about a minute. I carefully drove to work and all went well with VCM not engaging. I noticed the coolant gauge temperature never moved off cold which I know is a problem.
Starting the engine after work was once again a struggle but not as bad as earlier that day probably due to a higher ambient temperature. It drove home fine after getting going with the coolant reading again staying on cold.
I tested when I got home by disconnecting the power from the controller and the coolant reading was normal in between cold and hot. All that being said, the s-vcm support was extremely responsive and apologetic. They confirmed it was installed correctly after reviewing my photos. A replacement controller was mailed out immediately. Hopefully it will work as designed this time around! I’m pumped because I did get to experience VCM not engaging after getting past the startup issues and it was as everyone has been describing.

@Rumpleforeskin Thanks. However, I had a straight resistor (simpler setup than the S-VCM) plugged in the same location as where the S-VCM goes. The fans would not come on unless I turned the AC on. I removed the resistor and the fans worked normally again. I figured this out doing some maintenance that required two cycles of the cooling fans.

flipside garage - thank you for the response. Since I have had the spark plug fouling problem twice already, are my piston rings already damaged?

    • @FlipSideGarage

I would first checm the oil consumption. They are notorious for lots of newer acuras and hondas. My coworkers tsx suffered frim piston ring failure.
Basicsly when you change your oil. Check the amount after about 50-100miles afterwards
