you nailed it! good job! I underestimated this piece and ended up choosing another one... big mistake. Which pieces are you performing/have performed in the exam?
Omg...that gliss hurt so much! Not the skin but only the nail plate should touch it but my skin ends up touching it no matter what. The angle should be somewhat straight but then my pitiful thumb gets stuck😑...keep it little slanted then skin peels off😬. Ig I should keep my nail a little long. Right?
Bro you have really nice hands and technique I'm working on grade 8 now but I love playing this song is there any chance you still have the sheet of music and if it were possible to send it
Thanks for your kind comment! Sorry I can't share the sheet music due to copyright issues, but you'll find the book it came from on ebay (just search for Trinity Piano Grade 7 2015). I just now saw a cheap one from the UK there.
Thanks! I don't think my pedaling was entirely accurate 😅, but it sounds like I mostly changed the pedal on beats 1 and 3. Sometimes I lifted the pedal on beat 2 or 4, probably to try to bring out the 2-note slurs in the LH where possible.
+Fantailfishy Thanks!! It only took a couple of practice sessions to learn, but it did take a few attempts to record a note-perfect performance :)I wish you lots of luck for your exam - I hope it goes really well! What are the other two pieces you're playing in the exam?
To me, it seems implied, and suits the style of the piece. Note at the bottom of the first page is a note which follows the title: "A picture of Fred Astaire gliding through the lobby of the New York hotel around 1935, in top hat, white tie and tails." Swing was a big thing in the US at that time. Sometimes the composer will write "with swing" at the start, but swing can also just be notated as a dotted quaver plus semiquaver (as in this piece), and also just as a pair of quavers. The performer is then expected to know when to swing and when not to, based on the style of the piece. Hope that helps :)
Sorry, I don't normally share my email info, but feel free to ask me anything here in the comments. And I'm very pleased that you found my other comment helpful!
Unfortunately I have very little free time at the moment - working hard to pay the bills! :) But you can email me if you have any specific questions, and I'll do my best to answer them for you. You can get my email address from the "About" section on my Channel homepage.
In the bar 26 and 28 the note that you have played is D natural while it seems to be D flat. Also in bar 32 you have played A flat but it is writen as A
In bar 32 I actually did play an A, as written in the music, but well done for spotting the missing D flats in bars 26 and 28 - I guess I'm only human after all! :)
The best execution I've heard!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it :)
Woah amazing! It's also in the 2021-2023 grade 7 syllabus
I'm practicing it
@EclxpeVidx same
I love the bit at 0:35 :) I'm trying to play It properly :P Apparently I've been playing it wayyy too fast
+Fantailfishy Yeah it's fun to play! Worth practising slowly first, and/or with the metronome to keep it under control :)

great playing! what beats do you play the pedal on?

Nice :) How long did It take you to learn that? I'm doing this piece for my Grade 7 Exam.

+Martin M I haven't decided yet 0_0 but for the exercises I'm doing Aria Semplice, A touch of 'Rogue and Ever so Slightly Dizzy :)
Cool! I'll put some more recordings up soon - just been having some injury problems (not piano-related!).
+Martin M :D Ty's! and hope u get better from the aforementioned injuries
is this the right tempo to play it ?
In the Trinity exam book their suggested tempo is approx 58 minims per minute, so anywhere around that figure would be suitable.
Why did you play the piece in a swing style..it's not mentioned in the book.We have to play semiquavers ryt? Please make me understand.

Should we play in the swing style for the examination too?
Yes.
There are portraits of composers including J S Bach behind you
Well spotted! Yes I have Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninoff - they are my favourite five!
I contacted you through Google Plus, I need your help in fine tuning my playing, Let me know if you will be having time.
