On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Thanks for watching guys, just a little SAM practice I was doing thought I'd upload, might be interesting. Let me know your thoughts on more SEED videos in the future, of course we will make them a little more and more challenging in the future; and yes, as mentioned in the video I'm aware SAMs have shorter range IR sams like SA19s with them to cover them so please fight the urge to point this out to me, this was just a practice session trying to learn some SEED stuff.
Sead against s300 plz
Hey man, hit me up and come fly with the 55th Fighter Squadron on JTF1, this is our bread and butter. Very professional group.
Definitely digging the SEAD vids. It's nice to see you a little bit out of your comfort zone as well. From a "tutorial" standpoint, it's just as valuable to see you figuring things out and making mistakes as it is to hear you explain how things *should* be done - which you're very good at.
Definitely keep doing these... I am now going to have to try SEAD with the Hornet (see other comment) and decide whether to buy the F-16 module or not... I am also really, really, *REALLY* (did I say it enough?) that Heatblur comes out with an F-4G module after they release the F-4.... The idea of using that beast with Standard ARMs gets me more excited than I probably should be...
Thanks again for another great video!
Make SEAD mission with Eurofighter Typhoon
I love SEAD and anti ship missions. they're so much fun; please do more of them :)
totally agreed! great video!
There awesome aint they!
He has listened to you😅
This is fun to watch especially because it's something different. Would be nice to see some missions. Maybe once a month we could get some big missions involving some air to air and air to ground. Everyone can only die once. So these videos would be much longer. I don't know if that's possible or not for you or if it's simply too time consuming. Just and idea. If I had a PC I would love to help.
i agree id like to that aswell. missions always seem to have higher stakes
especially when human controlled opponents are involved
6:38 This is why the SA-6 is another Deadly SAM nickname: the 3 fingers of death
next time will be a great test to see short-range and mid-range air missile defense combined. that should really push GS to his limits!
Interesting that the scenario is actually pretty close to standard Soviet doctrine. The first time anyone say the SA6 was after the 6 day war (terrible for the Egyptians/Syrians/Jordanians). Israel owned the skies against the SA2s. The 73 war was a bit different. The Soviets supplied the Egyptians with SA2s, SA6s and ZSU-23s. SA2s for long range mid/high altitude, SA6s for low to mid and ZSU23 gun dishes for up close and personal encounters. The SA6 and ZSU23 systems were a big surprise to the Israelis.
I would definitely like to see larger SEAD or ground attack operations with a few wingmen and bandits involved, when the player availability is there of course.
Only thing missing on the first one was a "hold this for me, my dude" as you pickled the Rockeyes.
Watching cluster munitions do their thing is a truly awesome sight, as long as it's not aimed at you. I'll never forget the Desert Storm footage of the MLRS batteries launching full salvos and thinking, I'm sooo glad I'm not on the receiving end of that. I believe it was Stalin that said artillery is the hammer of war, same applies to cluster munitions.
Love watching the sead/dead missions. I know you're still learning, but it's going to be interesting to see as you start adding in complication to the IADS.
Kinda fun experience! A tiny bit disappointed that we didn't have ground video of the search radars getting brrr-ed at the end ;-)
Loving these types of missions - it would be super interesting to see 2/4 ship SEAD tactics like the US employed in the past (thinking of Prairie Fire '86) against super long range SA-5 systems in the future.
love it so much when you play some missions. looks like you really enjoy challenging yourself and putting many different skills into action in a single flight
Nice video. Really great idea to practice SEAD missions with someone actually in the SAM site. I’ll have to give this a try. Fun video, keep em coming. It’s very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks…
Would be nice to see how the ECM pod works in this scenario
They work quite well.
In round one, you murdered that SAM site in the first degree.
I remember watching The Fighter Pilot Podcast episode about SEAD and the HARM was described as a waste of a wing station.
The next time you do a SEAD video, do it with Mavericks and CBUs.
And once the Strike Eagle comes out, you should make some BFI videos.
Remember you can change the TGP's display to be Hot/cold and zoom in to make it easier to spot targets.
F-16 is truly a dominant aircraft, which is crazy considering it is a 4th gen fighter
If you think about it 4th Gen covers every aircraft that isn’t the F35 or the F22
@@andrewrogers3067 f-22 is in debate about being 4th or 5th gen. F-35 is 5th gen. Also an F-22 was made in the 90s, f-16 was made in the 70s
F-16's design and capability was way ahead of its time
@@andrewrogers3067 j20
@@Just_A_Random_Desk no its debated by some whether it is 4th or 5th gen because they think it has to do with when it was made. It actually has to do with the technology implemented on its jet. The real debate is like the F/A-18, cuz it has more tech than a 4th but not as much as a 5th so they call it a 4.5 generation.
I personally love the F-16 viper it was the first fighter jet I ever saw and I instantly fell in love.
It’s such a good platform
I would love to see more mission oriented content rather than just 1v1 matchups
I love the SEAD missions, please do more! In fact, more strike missions overall.
I’d love to see how different aircraft do SEAD maybe an F/A-18 next
Great content with SEAD, hope that you will do more variables like this
Watching that mobile radar packing up for a move and WHAM!!!
Really adds an interesting element! Once you really get the hang of it I'd love to see air and ground incorporated on both sides of a PvP BVR fight!
I definitely love the SEAD style videos! Super fun to watch and I find it super interesting!
I know this is 2 years old, but I'm loving the SEAD videos. I just started playing DCS, but this is really making me want to buy the f-16 wild weasel campaign.
in 1999. NATO vs SR. Yugoslavia (Serbia) SA-6 never use radar more then 10 sec. When they find target with radar then switch to electro-optical target tracking and manually missile management. One F-16 tail is in Belgrade air museum. Developers need to implement that in DCS...will be very interesting
It's SEAD right? Suppression of Enemy Air Defence
Yes
Dead
Yes, definitely keep this sort of stuff up. It's fascinating to watch.
In Desert Storm they led the strike packages with ECM aircraft like the EF-111 to jam enemy radars. Still very dangerous because they could still be jumped by enemy fighters which did happen to one EF-111.
Very understandable that the USAF likes to do this sort of mission with stealth aircraft like the F-117 or the F-35, knock out the radars and air defenses first, then go after logistical and command targets with strike aircraft like F-15Es and F-16s.
Only air-air kill credited to an EF-111. 😂
12:31 VIPER GO BRRRRR
My info may be out of date but I thought the SA-6 Gainful missile profile was to launch straight up and then attack from above. Which is where the name gain full comes from. That is how the F-16 shot down in Bosnia was taken out, I believe the F-117 was taken out the same way. The F-16 crews knew they were under attack when they saw the clouds at night light up as the missile went through them. To evade they looked up for the missile. At that time we had no ECM to counter the terminal guidance of the SA-6 except the mark 1 eyeball.
SEAD is super topical these days. Also fascinating to watch.
the guys who wrote viper pilot would love this video.
A real-life strategy, not sure if supported in the game...
Kub (SA-6) turns on his search radar briefly, just for a couple of seconds to see the location of the plane and flight parameters and instantly turn it off. Then manually turn launchers to expected point of interception, roughly (you know the speed of the missile so calculate quickly or take a guess) and launch minimum two missiles with a slight delay. These missiles can never hit like this cos they are flying without guidance... But the plane has no idea they are in the air. Then, a couple of seconds before the expected time of impact, turn the radar on. They will pick up the signal and start homing onto the plane if everything is OK.
Of course, the plane can change its flight parameters and no longer be where expected or crew can miscalculate and you miss. But since the radar was briefly on, the SEAD plane will most likely not find its exact location.
Actually done during Bosnia war and downed an F-16 that way. Also done during 1999 bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO...
I love SEAD. It is by far my favorite activity!
The destruction physics and sound in this one is so damn satisfying
More mayhem in the PVP server please.
Love to see you stalking and fighting real players and letting them show their moves.
Be cool to see you attempt this against different complexities of IADs. Starting with single sets like this all the way to S400/Patriot
The gun run was great. Lots of old school action here, lol.
I love this content. That being said,
F-14 vs Su-33, F-14 in fleet defense, Su-33 escorting bomber. Over ocean obviously.
The search radars be like
"See anything Dave?"
"Nothing new here Frank."
The SEAD missions seem to depend on getting painted and attacked in order to identify gun and missile emplacements, but why don't these weasel missions use airplanes with stealth features that would allow weasels to troll with high reflectivity profiles and then switch to stealth profile once their target has been identified and they need to avoid missies and AA?
Love these SEAD videos, also the longer formats are great
1:08 to 1:13
Yes we like to see such Sead Videos.
Plz carry on making them.
Love and Regards from India 👍
The SEAD videos are a refreshing change. Would definitely enjoy the odd SEAD video here and there.
Yeah this refreshing, good content. Do some anti ship stuff also. I love the sam being player controlled as well, good stuff.
Thanks for doing this one! This was awesome!
Love these types videos, would love to watch you play a campaign like the new Raven One campaign or something like that! Thanks for another great video
SEAD is my favorite. The Harm Attack Display, or HAD, is awesome.
Sead was instantly one of my favorites after the f16 training mission on the HARM. Big stick.
Love to see some air to ground stuff with the viper, please keep it coming!!
Hello! SEAD is great. My advice, set 1x105/145 as first pilon, and correct with TGP, and place harm on second pilon from centre.
SEAD missions are awesome! Keep the SEAD videos coming!
I like how you just empty the whole belt of 20mm to make sure the SA6 is good and dead 🤣
I could watch SEAD all day. More is always welcome!
Love the SEAD content. Need to bring back the A-10 Warthog missions too
Yes, please do more of these. Fantastic video!
These are great! Keep em coming!
It's time to get medieval
I'm goin' in for guns!!
I would love to see this done with an F/A-18 E/F like a Top Gun Maverick style mission or with the F-35 and see how its stealth characteristics would fare in this scenario
AND P47 vs EuroFighter!!!!!!
F22 and F35 would be able to launch a HARM and turn around and be gone before radar would pick them up.
Definitely liking the SEAD stuff, lotta fun to see this.
Yes dude, I dig these missions too. Great vid.
Love the SEAD missions, reminds me of playing Janes F-15 with a bunch of CBUs and hunting. Wish they'd modeled the HARM in that game. I'd still play that game if the computer could backdate far enough hahah
Bro... I am REALLY liking this mission oriented videos. It reminds me of, and the same quality as, "Ralfidude's" videos that are so few and far between at the moment. I would encourage you to do more of these and mix them in with your instructional/entertainment dogfight videos.
Would you run some SEAD/DEAD mission with the Hornet? Since the F/A-18 doesn't have an HTS (iirc) I am wondering what the difference between the two would be in regards to difficulty.
Thanks again for another great video!
It would be really cool if during these videos you could explain how the instrumenation works/how you read the gauges to figure out the SAM locations.
Also talk about what exactly youre doing instead of just saying "defending." Like, defending how? The more things we learn, the cooler ur vids are!
we need way more scenarios of this kind, specially when the SAM sites are hidden in urban areas :)
Keep it up GS. Who wouldn't like this kind of contents.
I absolutely love SEED videos, please do more of them
Liking the air to ground clips .more please.
Us aircraft armament maintainers hated that long burst with the gun. Long bursts wear the f16 gun like no other. Guaranteed a full gun swap, overhaul, and barrel replacement that probably will take 3-4 days if we got the barrels in a warzone. Video cool tho.
I really enjoy these SEAD missions and the vs MiG-31.
The Kola map will be awesome for some low level anti-ship missions.
everytime I try to learn the f-16 my brain just says "but f-18 though*
Perfect SAM trap, consider a wingman with extra HARMS 🤣
Really love theses missions! So fun to watch!
Was the jammmer not of much help? Running SEAD is one of my favorite missions, I think it's something Vipers excel at. I remember when I was at Nellis back in the mid 90's, we were just starting to pick up this mission from the F-4's that were getting retired.
Seems reasonable that SAM sites would be deployed in pairs so that one could cover the other, or at least use each other for bait!
I do love this snoop and kill style.
I enjoyed this, fun watching the learning curve, I enjoy the missions
Awesome stuff! Keep em coming GS!
5:17 One might say, SEAD and DEAD-sisted
I'm sorry
My favorite videos are BVR , SEAD , Anti-Ship and Air-to-Ground.
GS on Weasel Patrol...
Defending against surface to air missiles looks different than defending against air to air missiles. How about a Harrier SEAD mission in the future?
Bravo…thanks for the performance.
Excellent video. As always
I enjoy this kind of video, please keep going!
SEAD is honestly so fuggin cool
Love this kind of stuff. Keep going!
Love the SEAD mission content!
“We are not good”
I like the SEAD and interception missions. Variety is good.
As soon as gs saw the sa 6 near the sa 5 I heard capitan ackbar say: it's a trap
Don’t forget to walk the dog!!!
You should have a listen to the fighter pilot podcast episode about SEAD. It’s a very interesting take and revealed some misconceptions the general aviation community has about the mission envelope
Great Mission keep em coming GS
More of this! Awesome video
I’m liking these. I have a lot of fun doing sead
