Four years ago I watched this video and learned how to lift the puck, at that time I was playing “B” hockey and now I’m playing “AAA” thank you for teaching me so much and helping me get to the level I am at today
@James good job man, I have a similar story, when i was a squirt I got cut from my a major team and now I’m playing 2nd year bantam at a way higher level
Started coaching this year and few of the kids are having trouble raising the puck even over a 6 inch pad and trying to teach them was frustrating... and I mean I was frustrated with MYSELF not the kids because I couldn't help them... this video is a huge help!!! MUCH APPRECIATED 💯
Im 31 years old and never played hockey before but in a few weeks I'll be taking hockey lessons for the first time so I have been watching alot of these types of videos thanks for the tips
watched his videos on how to skate last winter now i skate like a pro (not to brag). and now i find myself watching how to lift a puck. Getting somewhere.soon i will be watching how to celebrate after scoring a goal lol . Thanks for the never disappointing vids.
I used to firgure skate before I got involved into hockey so when I took those basic classed I was boasting everyone else with speed and turns. Also this vid helped a lot so... Same
Thanks Jeremy, great vid. Awesome rink and scenery too. Doesn't look like Southern California thats for sure lol. Were roasting out here, weird winter this year.
If you're watching this practicing in your basement I recommend watching it until the end. I watched Jeremy tell me to go down and up, but paused it to try it out. Had the puck instantly go up above my paper towel fort and make a dent in the drywall. At the end Jermey kindly tells us to go back down so the puck doesn't go flying over the net. The more you know 🤓
I'm still having trouble while trying this. I try to add power because I have a very powerful low shot and it seems to throw me off with power as I try to lift it
Thanks for this video! I have a hockey tournament this weekend and I don't know how to lift the puck. Hopefully I might know how to do it ( I'm forward).
thank you so much im not new to hockey its just i have trouble raising the puck now that i watched this video i avarge 3 goals a game this came out 9 years ago and is still help people today thank you!
Your videos are the best, i have never played hockey but i play ball hockey and i havent known how to regulate height of the shot, now i know, your tips can be applied to ball hockey as well, thanks
thanks dude i use to be good at lifting the puck like a pro but i stopped playing for 3-4 years and kinda forgot you helped me get back to the lifting level i was originally
it's 2017 and I just had to comeback to one of the first videos I watched that got me started Jeremy helped out so much and now I'm a better player overall
Does this also apply for the slap shot as well? I'm having a lot trouble lifting the puck during a slap shot, but I can lift the puck when doing a snap shot and a wrist shot.
I cant lift a puck on a wrister but i can bar down on slaps. When I slapshot I normal follow thru with it. I feel like it's alot easier lifting the puck by following thru with your stick. Just my opinion.
Been playing about a year now so still very new, when I first started doing stick/puck sessions I was able to roof the puck pretty easily (beginners luck lol) up close and was getting used to elevating wrist shots. Fast forward to last few months I’ve been working on slap shots and discovered my wrist shots lost almost all lift. Practiced today and thinking about my technique I’m pretty sure I had the blade open the entire time and I was trying to add more power to get lift. This video completely opened my eyes as to why, so easy to understand and great instruction. I know the full on sweeps are a problem now if I’m still doing that. But is having the blade open or partially open the entire time another reason to not get lift?
I´ve always loved hockey its been in my family for so long. (Finnish blood ;D ) im 21 and I started skating again and have really improved alot since I started watching your videos. All of this helps me and then I even teach friends about your advices. So thanks for the videos and never stop making em! :)
***** same age as you however I just picked up hockey. I am on inlines, have a decent understanding of skating however Hockey is something I have never done. Hopefully I can get better within the next year or two and join a local small team (here in UK, shouldn't be too hard, got that Czech/Slovak blood flowin' thru haha).
You are the best at showing how to play better hockey I play hockey on Friday I hit the roof of my rink 2 time that is how good ism you are good to hurst like me
Very cool. As a newcomer to hockey many aspects seem interesting yet curiously mysterious. I've only watched a dozen or so, but you've made many skills and techniques understandable. Many thanks.
each new video is better than the last, from a film making standpoint. you are getting better in front of the camera and teaching better, i think. good video.
How To Hockey I really lovw your videos this one especially. I hace a bit of a problem with this, when im shooting at home on feet or roller skates I can get the puck up nice and high, but when im on the ice I cant seem to do it im not really sure why but if u have any thing I should work on or anything u think im doing wrong just tell me. :)thanks
Yeah I have some videos on the quick release, this one is a good one to watch first Learn the Quick Release - 3 Positions When you're going against a defender there are some different tricks, I haven't done a video yet for that though.
And the principle is the same for Slap Shots? I'm having some issues in getting the height in my slap shots, but for some reason it's easier for me in one-shot slapshot.
Hey I'm 12 and I've been working on my slap shot a lot over the past few weeks and I was wondering I there was a video on how to do one while skating into the offensive zone because you know when do you get the chance to just walk up to a puck and blast one xD
If you ever need anything just search our channel. We have a bunch of slapshot videos. For taking a slapshot - How To Take a Slapshot And for a slapshot while skating - How to take a Slapshot While Skating
Henrik Lundqvist Slapshots most important thing is weight transfer, back leg to front leg. And if you notice on slow motion replays, the players dont actually slap the puck, the stick hits the ice, creating a flex in the stick. When you follow though, the stick retracts back in position so it creates a ton of power. So weight on back leg, come down with the stick hitting the ice/floor, transfer weight as youre doing so, follow through by pointing the stick to where u want the shot to go.
I have the absolute opposite problem, I can never keep my shots down. I try but if I shoot from anywhere outside the circles it goes over the net! I know I have to follow through low but I can never do it and keep velocity on my shot. Any other tips?
Did you watch the full video? I mention this problem. Yes following through high or low affects the height of the shot, but having the blade open or closed plays a very big role as well. You need to finish your shot with a nice snap of the wrist
Either my Phys Ed teachers didn't teach me the proper way to hold the hockey stick and shoot the puck, or that I wasn't listening in class. Back in high school, I couldn't lift the puck at all, and felt envious that everybody else in my class could. I was also in the non athletic B group of the gym class too. If only these videos existed in the early 2000's.
Four years ago I watched this video and learned how to lift the puck, at that time I was playing “B” hockey and now I’m playing “AAA” thank you for teaching me so much and helping me get to the level I am at today
That's amazing James, it's awesome to be a part of your hockey journey. I'm proud of all the hard work you put in to get there, keep it up!

Best example so far, the other videos are so long. You simplified it in nearly 4min, thanks!
watched his videos on how to skate last winter now i skate like a pro (not to brag). and now i find myself watching how to lift a puck. Getting somewhere.soon i will be watching how to celebrate after scoring a goal lol . Thanks for the never disappointing vids.
+Ab CRXsi i am the same way
I used to firgure skate before I got involved into hockey so when I took those basic classed I was boasting everyone else with speed and turns. Also this vid helped a lot so... Same
Thank you so much I've only been playing hockey for a half season and I feel this will help a lot on my shot so much
Awesome walk through, can't wait to show my 7-yr this tomorrow. Thank you!
Thank you so much Jeremy this helped
This helped a lot, and can you make a video about how you made your rink?
Can u do a backwards skating crossover tutorial like the nhl defence man do? I would gain greatly from this
We have lots of videos on our channel. The one you are looking for - Backwards Crossovers: Step by Step How to Lesson - How To Hockey
I watch this every Thursday before training 👍
It helps. Thank you.
Thanks Jeremy, great vid. Awesome rink and scenery too. Doesn't look like Southern California thats for sure lol. Were roasting out here, weird winter this year.
These worked well I went
In to a game after watching these videos and scored a hat trick with two assist
If you're watching this practicing in your basement I recommend watching it until the end. I watched Jeremy tell me to go down and up, but paused it to try it out. Good point lol
I'm still having trouble while trying this. I try to add power because I have a very powerful low shot and it seems to throw me off with power as I try to lift it
In the past I'm the one that cannot lift the puck but u help me can , THANKS ! !
Thanks for this video! I have a hockey tournament this weekend and I don't know how to lift the puck. Hopefully I might know how to do it ( I'm forward).
Any tips on getting rid of side preference while skating?
thank you so much im not new to hockey its just i have trouble raising the puck now that i watched this video i avarge 3 goals a game this came out 9 years ago and is still help people today thank you!

i cant believe how informative this is thanks so much best hockey channel
This really helped me thanks 😀
Thanks a lot. This is the best video for beginners how to lift the puck.
Does this also apply for the slap shot as well? I'm having a lot trouble lifting the puck during a slap shot, but I can lift the puck when doing a snap shot and a wrist shot.
Slappers are the hardest to roof for sure, but practice is still the key.
Me too. I have trouble getting height on the slappers
I cant lift a puck on a wrister but i can bar down on slaps. When I slapshot I normal follow thru with it. I feel like it's alot easier lifting the puck by following thru with your stick. Just my opinion.
Do not rest-shot But if you do a slap shoot.

Woah I have been struggling for a year - your short video works like a charm! Thank you!

I'm a 55yr old hockey player and this vid was extremely helpful ..... thanks!!
Awesome tips, thanks a lot man!
You do a great job of breaking movements down into simple steps.
You are the best at showing how to play better hockey I play hockey on Friday I hit the roof of my rink 2 time that is how good ism you are good to hurst like me
awesome video dude in one of my inline games i scored my third goal high blocker thanks to learning how to lift the puck
Wow... It really helped me. Thank you!
Very cool. As a newcomer to hockey many aspects seem interesting yet curiously mysterious. I've only watched a dozen or so, but you've made many skills and techniques understandable. Many thanks.
I am going into my first year of checking can you do a video on that thanks

Love your videos so easy to understand
Cheers man, did that yesterday and wasn’t sure how
Explained simply, concisely, and with excellent video PIP. Thanks!(Liked & subscribed)

Do you have any tips on how to get a quick shot off either on a breakaway 1 on 1 or 1 on . Thanks
Yeah I have some videos on the quick release, this one is a good one to watch first Learn the Quick Release - 3 Positions
When you're going against a defender there are some different tricks, I haven't done a video yet for that though.
How To Hockey Thanks! Do you plan on doing a video for going against a defender?
And the principle is the same for Slap Shots? I'm having some issues in getting the height in my slap shots, but for some reason it's easier for me in one-shot slapshot.
Thank you coach Jermey my shot is amazing now because of you
love you arena :)
Hey I'm in Australia and I don't have anywhere to train except for my backyard and I only have a tennis ball. Do you have any training balls.
Thanks
Helped a ton, thank you!
THANK YOU
Hey I'm 12 and I've been working on my slap shot a lot over the past few weeks and I was wondering I there was a video on how to do one while skating into the offensive zone because you know when do you get the chance to just walk up to a puck and blast one xD
Great tips man
Your video quality 10 years back is better than most video quality nowdays 😅
I know how to do this I just like coming back to these videos because this was when I started playing hockey
Thx bro u taught me something my coaches didnt
nice video, sick rink wish England got like that.
could you do a video how to shoot high with a slapshot ?
I never get them higher than the knee and I don't know why :-/
Hi
i just learned in 4 minutes you are the best
Do you have any in-depth video on slapshots on ice? When you are moving, taking a slapshot without falling over
If you ever need anything just search our channel. We have a bunch of slapshot videos. For taking a slapshot - How To Take a Slapshot
And for a slapshot while skating - How to take a Slapshot While Skating
How To Hockey Thank you Jeremy! Im trying to get as much power as possible and having the best technique without falling on my ass
Henrik Lundqvist Slapshots most important thing is weight transfer, back leg to front leg. Thanks coach Jeremy.
Bruh I have a hockey game on this sunday and Saturday thank you soo much.
Lol that school bus at the beginning. If we had that much snow here we would be out of school for 2-3 weeks.
Awesome video!
I thought this would teach me how to raise it on a slap shot because that was what I was looking for but it’s the same principle right?
Do a video how puck handle while skating I find it so hard
From the west coast no outdoor rinks here
Great vidéo! Thanks J. :)
Thx really helped
That net is sick
Are you able to employ this technique in a wrist and snap shot to get more lift?
Yes this is basically the finish in your shot
How To Hockey do you use the toe middle or heel of the blade? also make a video on how to hockey chirp lol.
I can’t even get the puck up do you have any advice to help me
Hey, do you shoot from the toe of the blade or the middle?
middle of the blade
Dude that is my snap shot it's a little bit like the knuckle puck
Either my Phys Ed teachers didn't teach me the proper way to hold the hockey stick and shoot the puck, or that I wasn't listening in class.
