The 5700 actually uses the exact same board and parts as the 5700XT, just with a different bios that caps its performance. So if you're thrifty, you should pick up one of these 5700's with a flashable BIOS for about $75-$100 USD. then flash it with a bios from the same manufacturer but for the 5700XT. Suddenly, you card will be giving you the same performance as a RTX 2070 Super, only without raytracing. I've personally tested this on the MSI OC MECH 5700, and it worked like a dream. I honestly think these two tips will give you the biggest bang for your buck if you buy used today.

Where the hell do you find prices like that? Australia? In Canada an old Lenovo p520 with 32GB will cost you hundreds of dollars, if you even find one. Getting one on eBay will end up costing close to a 1000 CAD
Dude I subscribed a few years ago when you had just a few subs. Good to see how much your channel has grown and the content is still very interesting. Keep smiling ^_^
I enjoy this sort of content and I have an idea you may enjoy exploring. Affordable SFF! OK, plenty of people have had this idea but it's only now becoming attainable. I recently built a pc with a bunch of my own used parts. So I don't know what kind of prices I could achieve exactly but I am certain that one could build a 10 liters or less, 1080p beast for under 1000 dollars. That's the challenge but it's no challenge at all, I bet you could do it for much less. I'm in the Philippines and I used a "Shiny Snake case" very much like a PCCooler i100, lunchbox style sandwich case with a handle and I crammed in a 1660ti and a ryzen 3300x with a stock cooler. I gave that to my wife's nephew studying engineering. He's since spent hundreds of hours on elden ring.
I recently bought two HP Z440's. One is a 14 core E5 2690 V4 with 64 GB ram and the other is a 1650 V4 6 core but with higher clock speeds and 32 GB ram. Dropped a RTX 2060 Super in the 14 core and an RX 570 in the 6 core. Both game just fine, including Starfield. Both were super affordable using used parts. I haven't touched my custom built PC in the past month.
I have been using used workstations for gaming for over 10 years now. My latest computer was a z620 v2 with a 2070. It really games well. Although it was totally not necessary, I decided to upgrade from that to an HP Z4 G4 with an 8 core w-2145 and 3070ti. Total cost for the computer and upgrades was about $530. If I didn't get the 3070ti and kept my 2070, I would have spent under 300. The best part is that I still have my z620 computer to keep or sell... haven't decided yet. It still games soooo well.
@@amvchan4495 Ebay is a good place to get them. I usually buy one from a seller that is selling a ton of them. That way if there is an issue they have lots more to replace it with. I haven't had an issue thus far though. I just bought a HP Z4 G4 barebones system, a w-2145 (8 core with 4.5ghz boost) and 2 16GB sticks of DDR4 ECC RAM. Total for all of that was around $250. I have a couple extra SSDs so I just used those for free. Then find whatever GPU you want and you're done!
You keep popping up in my feed and I have to say I really enjoy your content. it is unique and well thought and Very helpful. Thank you and keep up the great work
Was gonna ask if the build can run Starfield, but after seeing that RX 580, I know it can. I mean that GPU is like the gift that keeps giving. I hardly envision any other card doing the same in foreseable near future.
The thing with console is that the base price tag is not the final price, you have to pay for a subscription to play online, which makes a console that costs $300 actually cost more than triple over the course of the 7-8 years it lasts. With older pc parts remaining relevant for as long as a console stays relevant and with fsr being a thing, a gpu like a gtx 1070/1080 and a ryzen 5 4500 cpu for example could last as long as a console does for around the same price give or take
Not necessarily true, you don't HAVE to pay for a subscription at all if you don't care about playing online. I've been doing just fine for yrs without paying for a subscription. There are plenty of single player games out there....not to mention there are quite a few free to play online games if you're in such a need... also, consoles have perks and incentives and offer discounts for subscriptions...I tend to sign up for 30 days or more when they have their $1 deals. (Usually around Black Friday and Christmas).

Omg, I have a z440! Dayum, mine was 320$ in Egypt, a xeon 1650v4 processor, an rx 480 8gb that reaches the 580's clocks, 32 gigs of ram and 3 terabytes of 100 and 180 megabyte/s hard drives along with a 500 gig SSD. Insane value! Let's see how yours compares 😂 ❤ Edit: yours is better, I wish we had 120$ 1080 tis 😔😭😭
@@OzTalksHW thanks lol, we have wonderful used prices except for graphics cards above the rx 590 for some reason. i do use virtual machines so the extra ram really helps, it also helps in overall stability. did you have any shortcomings using the workstation?

Thank you very much for the follow-up! Couple of caveats: - The workstation PC's are not that much of an option for people outside of the US. Theres a lot less of them on ebay in the UK for example and when they come up people know exactly what they are so they are no longer a bargain. Also, since the Sandy Bridge (core 2000) days, HP and Acer started doing very shady things with the motherboards such as locked PCI EX slots, limited GPU support and proprietary board power connectors, to prevent second life and increase e-waste (PC enthusiasts are not even remotely their main consumer base for the workstations....what the flying f##k??). -There are better options for a cheap ryzen CPU than the 1500x if you can find them local. I bought an R5 2600 for £30 (37 USD). 6c/12t at 3.7ghz, unlocked chip, sometimes with cooler included (thermal paste will be needed though. Otherwise I fully agree with everything in the video, there's many different ways of getting a PC or getting into gaming on a very tight budget. The APU now and GPU later choice is actually much better than people realise, as if the buyer then saves up for another month or two they can just chuck in an RX 580 8GB or GTX 1070 for like 60 bucks and run almost everything at 1080p.
@@fusokku9212 Though I wouldn't use Win11 at the moment. I'm forced to use it with the work laptop and it crashes everything regularly. Browsers, MS software, notepad, you name it. It's a huge pile of steaming something at the moment, it will likely get better in a year or two.
Proprietary connectors aren't really an issue, the parts are a dime a dozen anyway so just get a replacement fan or whatever. I have been using HP workstations at home for over a decade now and haven't had a single issue. They cool really well, they are built to run all day long and everything in them is super cheap to replace.
I recently build a PC for Minecraft for 97€. I5-4590, GT710, 12GB of DDR3 and a 1TB Toshiba SSD I had already lying around. Overclocked the GT710 and I'm getting very stable 140FPS on Fancy settings. Got me hooked building PCs and I'm thinking about switching it into a new case, upgrading the powersupply and dropping a RX6600 Eagle 8GB for ~170€ in it. Maybe upgrade the processor to a i7-4790 if it doesn't hold up to games I want to play
I was lucky and a friend gave me his old case with an upgraded MSI PS 850w, MSI b150 mobo, An Intel i5 6400 CPU, Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3600 ram, NXTZ 120 AIO, Samsung 980 1TB SSD, and a 2060GPU that I replaced with my B-Day present ASUS GTX 3070Ti. I was very fortunate to have such a good friend. This PC runs everything I have thrown at it.
So this is the video the hardware came from you listed on HWS - still kicking myself for missing those deals. . Congrats on the jump forward in your content.
I saw your video about building a living room pc instead of buying Elden Ring on Xbox. I decided to check your channel out and it was the right decision! You just earned yourself a new subscriber!
considering i have a $3200 gaming rig sporting a 4080 gpu and 7950x cpu and every other bells and whistles in the AM5 platform, Your'e absolutely right. console is now the king of base consumer/budget gaming. Medium settings across the board, sure. But you get access to ANY current game. if you want a pc the will do the same thing, $850 minimum at least for whats out now (targeting low settings of course). Building like what i have means you have to save up allllllot. And research allllot. You need to give yourself as much an edge as possible if your building a 'will play games at med/high to ultra and will perform well for at least a good 5 (hopefully more) years' type build, You need to dig deep into your pockets and build your pc like its some state-of-the-art piece of machinery like a car or some crap... I got my sis a ps5 for her bday and i kinda wished i did the same. Knowing what i know having done the research i did, i coulda just got a ps5/xbox and suped it up with better storage, fans, paste and pads and that would give it an actual boost in performance over other similar specc'd hardware. it would have also only cost like $100 extra on top of the console for those improvements, making it even better of an option in value vs similar stuff.
The problem with the Z440 option is that the platform doesn't support Windows 11, so you only get 2 years of secure Windows use if you buy one now. I know that 2 years is still a decent amount of time and the point of this is to try to get something cheap now, but i feel like it's probably worth mentioning in these videos.
@@OzTalksHW so I looked into it and it seems more complicated than I initially thought. None of the LGA2011 CPUs are listed on Microsoft's official Win11 support list, and HP's support page doesn't list the Z440 as compatible with Windows 11, but it seems like some people in this LTT thread had success adding a TPM2.0 module to their LGA2011 boards. I know there are 'unofficial' ways around the Win11 requirements, though, so I suppose people can do that.
Would be interesting to see a budget build that benchmarks some games on Linux. Saving the cost of buying a windows license could get you extra performance.
Nice video, not bad mentioning the Xbox Series S and its actually a great "get up and go option" however I do find in my experience PC and console users tend to be quite separate and there isn't much overlap. (Still worth mentioning overall however)
Recently went the HP z440 route over the summer and its great, got one with e5-2667v3 with 32gb ram and a quadro k4200 for $125, bought a gtx 1070 on ebay for $80 and thing pretty much runs everything i want it to at 1080p. There are caveats though like needing a m.2 adapter, proprietary parts, xeons want quad channel ram, and 700w psu only being 2 6 pins.
That's such an awesome build. Did you have any issues with SSDs over 1 TB? I read that HP turbo drives only go up to 1 TB, which is a little silly. Not sure if you ran into that problem
Its good to see the return of used prebuilds. I remember those were all the rage when I original watched tech tube videos back in 2016ish. I think it was Ryzen that really made a lot of those disappear over time. Good to see the GPU market has finally dropped in price a little bit, on RX570/580 cards. However maybe that is not a good thing because at this point in time they are 7 years old and AMD is ending the driver support for polaris. It is good to see however games with these cards still run well. I guess it makes sense though. Most games are not getting more demanding, it is really more a long the lines that standards for what people want out of a gaming pc have gone up. Back in 2016, a budget gaming PC was 720P 30FPS target ish on modern games at the time where you probably using a GT1030 or RX550 to pull it off as this was just a little before the advent of the legendary Ryzen 2200G/2400G Apus. Today with the RX580 you are essentially using it for what people originally mostly used the cards for, and that is 1080P mid-high setting gaming. I really do want an APU with RX580 performance, I feel it has been long enough to where that truly needs to be the bottom line.
I have a console, and the performance is super reliable and great for the money And I’m forgetting how often it’s a pain in the ass for random reasons on PC But I’m going back to PC because of having access to mods and being able to change things in the game When I was a kid I just played games, but now it’s way too limiting and boring to just follow suit with the slow show they set up for players For example, driving games with the crazy high amount of credits you need to buy a few cars + you can purchase them directly from your credit card saved on your PS account
Used HP Z440 Workstation Desktop PC, Intel Xeon E5-1620 v3 3.5GHz, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB SSD, Nvidia Quadro K2200, Windows 10 Pro Grade B is this a good deal and will we be able to play valorant just fine?
This guy sounds friendly and relaxed. I built my first PC with decent specs (i3-6100,RX-560, 12GB ram,450W PSU) for 125$ and i don't usually gaming on it so i think it'll serve me for 2 years then I'll upgrade it to a beast PC thanks to this guy.

or if you want to get the same performance of a workstation pc with a graphics card but want to have it in a custom case then the aliexpress x79 and x99 motherboard combos dont cost anything over $45 and you get all the modren stuff like nvme slots and ddr4 but that is excluive to the x99 boards and the x79 boards only support ddr3 and dont forget to mention that is you want to upgrade the ram these boards only support ecc memory so you might have more gbs per ram stick but it will be very slow on the clock speeds but other than that its a solid option if you want a extrime buget builds that can go as cheap as $130
My friend just bought a Bundle of used ryzen 3 2200g with 16GB RAM for $100, he use his old PSU, HDD, and Case from his old pc and it have a decent performance! I was planning to build a Dell Optiplex build using 7010 barebones with Xeon E3 1275 v2 but I am worried about its PSU if it can withstand having RX 580 as its GPU. I don't have that much surplus money, and I only also am a esports player so having an mid-high end unit isn't for me.

@@0hN0es203 Not for Canadians, not with import fees + shipping it isn't
Don't know about anything 1440p max settings with a 3060 let alone 4k... more like1080p high or 1440p medium to high settings.
Dude I subscribed a few years ago when you had just a few subs. Good to see how much your channel has grown and the content is still very interesting. Keep smiling ^_^
With DLSS and FSR available, you can create a baller setup with solid frames for relatively cheap. Love these options
6:34 Look at this guy's super straight back posture🔥
All the best to you I hope all continues to go well
Wow. This great video motivated me to upgrade my old pc in 2024. Thank you for listing all the needed computer parts. Thanks a million!!!
Congrats Oz! Your style shines so bright!
Congrats!!!!
where did you get your HP Z400s? I know nothing about pcs I wanna learn with this one
How to get used workstations tho is it available on amazon?
Thank you and keep up the great work
Ayy great video Ozi!
Glad you kept on this track since our earlier talk!
Man your videos are just, so relaxing.
Man i cant believe you are still uploading because i havent watched since a year ago and now i realized you are doing great (im subscribing)
Was gonna ask if the build can run Starfield, but after seeing that RX 580, I know it can. I mean that GPU is like the gift that keeps giving. I hardly envision any other card doing the same in foreseable near future.
Maybe the 5700XT, it's aging pretty well at this point

Got my rx 5700 8gb for $110
Not really a bad gpu for a low budget
You're one of my favorite tech yourubers, I love building budget computers and are always looking for better ways to budget a system. Thanks for the great content!
Let's see how yours compares 😂 ❤
Edit: yours is better, I wish we had 120$ 1080 tis 😔😭😭
😭 Dude don't have buyer's remorse, your build is still wonderful!
@@OzTalksHW thanks lol, we have wonderful used prices except for graphics cards above the rx 590 for some reason. i do use virtual machines so the extra ram really helps, it also helps in overall stability. did you have any shortcomings using the workstation?
Yo Ozzy you inspired me to make my first gaming pc and I succeeded
for all of you asking if u need a monitor keyboard and mouse yes so maybe add another 60 bucks for a cheap monitor and 40 for the keyboard and mouse
i love this channel ozie is so chill loving the frequent uploads
Those workstations are something i built a optiplex 9010 32gb ram, 500gb ssd and just a 1650 and it can play just about anything relatively well for only $190
That used market is crazy!! This is why I love cities, so much competition and variety can make the used market dirt cheap!
Sweet i built mine for just under 170. (Ryzen 7 3700x msi a520m pro gtx 1070 Corsair 750 psu kingston fury 16 gb ram wd 256 m.2 and wd 1 tb hdd. Everything except the mobo was used and gets the job done if you ask me though i got pretty good bang for buck.
Nice video! Good luck in grad school and with the channel going forward. Keep doing what you're doing. :)
Thanks!
Incredible video. Really thinking outside the box. Great job.
Thank you very much for the follow-up! Couple of caveats:
- The workstation PC's are not that much of an option for people outside of the US.
I totally forgot to mention local deals! That’s a huge one and can make a huge difference.
And the 2600 would have official win11 support unlike the zen1 cpu's
Maybe upgrade the processor to a i7-4790 if it doesn't hold up to games I want to play
always love seeing you post new content!!!
Made a pc with 16 gb ddr4 ram, 1 tb SSD, gtx 1050ti, and an Intel i5 6500 for only 230, eBay and used workstations are great for cheap parts
So this is the video the hardware came from you listed on HWS - still kicking myself for missing those deals. . Congrats on the jump forward in your content.
THE ONLY TECH TUBER WE NEED!!
That posture though... perfection
Awesome as always Ozi!!!!
I saw your video about building a living room pc instead of buying Elden Ring on Xbox. I decided to check your channel out and it was the right decision! You just earned yourself a new subscriber!
Thanks man!
What a great guy, subbed!
thank you for these videos u have helped me make a side hustle
considering i have a $3200 gaming rig sporting a 4080 gpu and 7950x cpu and every other bells and whistles in the AM5 platform, Your'e absolutely right. console is now the king of base consumer/budget gaming.
My mind was blown that I wasn't already subscribed after watching your vids for almost a year now 😮
Your vids are the perfect thing to watch paired with a good meal.
The problem with the Z440 option is that the platform doesn't support Windows 11, so you only get 2 years of secure Windows use if you buy one now. I know that 2 years is still a decent amount of time and the point of this is to try to get something cheap now, but i feel like it's probably worth mentioning in these videos.
from what I can gather, the Z440 supports TPM 2.0. Should be fine, no?
@@OzTalksHW so I looked into it and it seems more complicated than I initially thought. None of the LGA2011 CPUs are listed on Microsoft's official Win11 support list, and HP's support page doesn't list the Z440 as compatible with Windows 11, but it seems like some people in this LTT thread had success adding a TPM2.0 module to their LGA2011 boards. I know there are 'unofficial' ways around the Win11 requirements, though, so I suppose people can do that.
*Protected from Windows 11
Would be interesting to see a budget build that benchmarks some games on Linux. Saving the cost of buying a windows license could get you extra performance.
Nice video, not bad mentioning the Xbox Series S and its actually a great "get up and go option" however I do find in my experience PC and console users tend to be quite separate and there isn't much overlap. (Still worth mentioning overall however)
Didn’t know you were in Atlanta. Can I comewatch you build PCs for relaxation?
Awesome video and congrats on being a fulltime content creator.
thanks man :)
@@OzTalksHW Only have a Samsung 970 EVO 500gb m.2 in my HP turbo drive so can't say if over 1TB is actually supported.
that’s awesome
Congratulations on being a full time creator
I have a console, and the performance is super reliable and great for the money
And I’m forgetting how often it’s a pain in the ass for random reasons on PC
But I’m going back to PC because of having access to mods and being able to change things in the game
When I was a kid I just played games, but now it’s way too limiting and boring to just follow suit with the slow show they set up for players
For example, driving games with the crazy high amount of credits you need to buy a few cars + you can purchase them directly from your credit card saved on your PS account
prebuilts are underrated. i found a pc for my friend with a xeon e3 1240 v3 (its bad.) with a bequiet psu, 16 ram and a 3050 for 130$.
Used HP Z440 Workstation Desktop PC, Intel Xeon E5-1620 v3 3.5GHz, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB SSD, Nvidia Quadro K2200, Windows 10 Pro Grade B
is this a good deal and will we be able to play valorant just fine?
This guy sounds friendly and relaxed.
I built my first PC with decent specs (i3-6100,RX-560, 12GB ram,450W PSU) for 125$ and i don't usually gaming on it so i think it'll serve me for 2 years then I'll upgrade it to a beast PC thanks to this guy.
That’s actually good maybe for the cpu u should go with i3-8100 or i3-9400F
@@CrownSploit I5-9400F
Well i don't think i'll upgrade that soon but if i do it now, i would go for I5-13400 and pair it with RTX3070 or RX6600XT.
Congrats on being a full time content creator! We’ll all be looking forward to more of these amazing videos!

If you cant get hold of a workstation computer but want really good performance for almost the same money a aliexpress x99 motherboard, cpu and ram combo (or individually) can get you really good stuff for not much more or even less if you shop around.

Hello - Can you recommend a NON GAMING build around the $300-600 price range? I'm looking for multi-tasking, music production, video editing, and some gaming!
or if you want to get the same performance of a workstation pc with a graphics card but want to have it in a custom case
then the aliexpress x79 and x99 motherboard combos dont cost anything over $45 and you get all the modren stuff like nvme slots and ddr4 but that is excluive to the x99 boards and the x79 boards only support ddr3 and dont forget to mention that is you want to upgrade the ram these boards only support ecc memory so you might have more gbs per ram stick but it will be very slow on the clock speeds but other than that its a solid option if you want a extrime buget builds that can go as cheap as $130
You keep making the same types of budget build videos. Why do I keep watching them? Oh right, because I can't get enough of them!
My friend just bought a Bundle of used ryzen 3 2200g with 16GB RAM for $100, he use his old PSU, HDD, and Case from his old pc and it have a decent performance! It can play csgo, apex, and Valorant with a pretty good fps while streaming or recording and it can edit 1080p footage on premiere pro pretty decently without any hiccups. I mean it won't play starfield, but it's $100 so yea..
Damn that's an amazing video thanks Oz
Most of the intel 6th gen prebuilts are not terribly priced and similar in price. Maybe even moving up to 8th gen prebuilts could be inexpensive now.

I am a student for software development and I am always astonished how much PC one can get nowadays used for almost no money imo.
I sold my Ryzen 7 2700x, 40GB DDR4 2400mhz, RTX 2070 machine recently to build for the same money
an i5-13500, 64GB DDR4 3200Mhz, GTX 1060 6GB machine for more efficient tasks and casual play.
If you can find those locally totally go for it! I want to suggest processors that are readily available for purchase to the masses

I looked up my own pc parts (amd ryzen 5 4600g, 16 gb ddr4) and some other stuff and total came down to $330. (edit: i swapped the ram for CL22 3200 ram and made it $2 more expensive)

you could do what i did which is get a desktop pc and put a $30 gpu in. the gpu is the NVIDIA Quadro K620 2GB DDR3 DP DVI Low Profile PCIe Graphics Card. it runs fortnite at 60 fps in ranked.

I wanted to buy that Gigabyte B450m BS3H Board + Ryzen 5 4600G but I read that if the board doesn't come with an updated BIOS and you don't have an older cpu than you can't use it. I'm new to pc building, how would I know if the DS3H will come updated or not?
