Lots of cruiser squids in the US. An their not new riders. Low sided on a corner 2 weeks ago. Scratched up my boots, gloves, riding jeans an the face of my full face helmet. Put a hole in my riding jacket. I was sore but unmarked. I am back on my bike, putting my gear on an a guy on a Harley stopped to check on me. He was in a T-shirt an jeans, and a half helmet. If I was dressed like him, I would have been on my way to the ER to meet a plastic surgeon, instead of riding home to watch TV.
ATGATT! At least for me while I'm still new. Only been riding 7 months, and even if I ride in just plain jeans and still wear everything else, I still feel like I'm asking for it.
LAMS only requires you to wear a helmet and a "high visibility" vest, there are other requirements, but for gear that's it. It might be encouraged to wear full gear or advised by places that teach you to ride, but the actual requirements for gear are what i stated before. I always knew squids as just lacking gear, up to and including lacking a helmet, anything less than a helmet, gloves and shoes is a big ick for me for personal feeling. Not that the acronym doesn't make sense, as generally people squidding to my understanding of the term, are equally generally seen doing silly things anyway, so tomato tomato. Also delicious area for a ride, good choice. Delicious vintage land rover and mustang.
Soz all, I was under the impression learner riders had to be covered by law. Dunno why I thought it was that way.

Can still have low gear and not be a squid tho, main part of squidding is the riding style tbh
My knees are still messed up after i crashed without proper pants going 80km/h
Yeah that'll do it... sounds like it was a bad fall
Riding down my street today as it just started to rain again and I saw a gixxer bro ride past wearing shorts 😆can't make it up

Fuckn oops, oh well man makes mistakes.
Gear is helm and gloves for me. No gloves is naked to me
I feel called out for the derestriction :P but I'm not a squid thankfully. Been there, done that, learned my lessons.
You either learn. Or get some great storied tattoos
@@sergeantwombat I have those, too, from my early years.
Hey quick question 🙋....
If you're wearing Kevlar jeans when you ride, do you wear them all day at work or change all the time?
I just wear them all day lol, theyre not that bad
Squids are riders with amazing confidence and skill that they don't even need gear. My thong is all the protection I need.
I salute you 🫡
