    Which brand harmonica are you using in this video? Does it come in a country tuning or did you have to modify it yourself? Thanks.

    Will, you might mention the advantage of Country Tuning when playing in 5th position; 2 blow is the root and the 5 draw raised allows for a complete minor scale. In E minor use a C country tuned.

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, wherever you have a major scale you have the relative minor. I wouldn't choose to play a song in 5th position though, I find it's not very expressive with the root note being on a blow- but it's still useful if you are playing a song that switches between relative major and minor keys.

    Excellent introduction to this harmonica tuning. It's my first time learning about country tuned harmonicas and incredible video at the end!
    Your sister has a unique and incredible singing voice! And, your harp perfectly supports the message of her song!
    Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!!

    Thanx Will, Ive been thinkin about C.T./Jazz T. lately. Good ,clear explanation. Im not too good at over draws/bends, over blows/draws especially on My out of the box harmonicas. Thanx for reminding Me of Roly. Love The Wildes. Great vidio. 👍👍👍⚘🎸😎⚘

      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Charlie, no problem Roly is a great player! Country tuning is really uswful, even if you are good at overblows you still can't get that same pure tone on the major 7th as you can with a natural draw note.

    I just got one and realized it’s amazing for 3rd position playing as well. Maybe do a vid for country tuned 3rd position playing.

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, in 3rd position the raised note gives you a major third in draw 5 instead of a minor third.

    What are the pros and cons of using Country tuning for I - IV - V blues? (Lovely song, btw.)

  • @nothankyou8365
    @nothankyou8365 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I myself tuned one of my harmonica for that . Easy not a big deal as I just tune 1 note . If you have some extra harmonica use it

    How do I change my C major Harmonica to a C minor Harmonica? Like, which reeds to flatten, and how much?

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For natural minor tuning you would need to flatten draw 3, draw 7, blow 2, blow 5 and blow 8, all by a semi tone.

    Ok, so I’m totally new to Harp. Will and folks, Pls confirm: are you suggesting that if a song is in E, it sounds best to use an A harp? Please forgive the beginner question. 🙏

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, for that typical bluesy/country feel it would be better to use an A harp, because of how the notes lay out and where the bends are. This is called playing in second position. About 90% of blues harmonica you hear is played in 2nd pos.

    • @dovlandzbaum5036
      @dovlandzbaum5036 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willharmonicawilde I mean, which key do you think would be the most useful for country-type tunes? And does this tuning work for Irish stuff, too?

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dovlandzbaum5036 I can't really give you a definitive answer. Country songs come in all keys. As with any song the key is usually determined on what works best for the singer. E,A,G, Cand D are probably the most common keys so that would be A,D,C, F and G harps for playing 2nd position.

    • @dovlandzbaum5036
      @dovlandzbaum5036 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How can we bend a draw 5 as u said at 2:34?

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The same way you bend any other draw note. On a country tuned harp the 5 draw will bend a full semi-tone (from a major 7 down to a flat 7 in second position)

    • @RamCharan-rg3no
      @RamCharan-rg3no 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willharmonicawilde do you mean, that only after tuning, we will be able to draw bend the fifth draw? Because when I try to draw bend from the fifth hole (without tuning it) it just bends a quarter note. Not even a semitone.

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RamCharan-rg3no If you raise draw 5 by a semitone to a major 7th (country tuning), then it will bend a full semitone.
