The Harmonica in the video is a chromatic. They have more notes and are more for virtuosos. Grab a diatonic in the Key of C from your local music store or online. Get a Lee Oskar or a Hohner Blues Harp or Marine Band. Stay away from cheap harps like the Silver Star. You should be spending about 30 to 50 bucks.
@@onthewattle which harmonica on the video is chromatic? first xb-40 is a diatonic harp but each note can be bend, second is a marine band and last one is an octave harp. Chromatic would have a button on a side and would sound different. Cheers
A. You are awesome for posting this tab. B. Any videos you recommend on how to tune it and C. Any sites you recommend on where to buy a paddy Richter harp in the states
@Radiator Hospital Fan Club I'm very late in responding to you but I will answer in case some other people have the same questions. B. There are loads of videos about tuning harmonicas on youtube, I recommend Andrew Zajac's videos about it - though bear in mind that he uses a lot of self developed tools. All you really need is a needle file and something to measure the pitch. C. I'm not really knowledgeable about the US market since I live in Europe, but the only harmonica manufacturer that offers out of the box paddy richter tuned harmonicas that I know of is Seydel - and their harmonicas are great. But as I mentioned in my first post it's easy to do yourself on any harmonica as long as you don't rush it.
I just picked up the harmonica. And my brain naturally goes to irish la di da Las and I klcant stop the cycle of playing that tune in my head this gave me a whole new scale to understand where those folk roots can touch
Don’t think that because it’s a harmonica it’ll be easy. Just be Patient and practice, practice, practice. Oh, and take some lessons to avoid bad habits - the ones I had from being completely self taught. Had to spend the last 3 years unlearning some really ingrained bad habits. Would not want any new player to have to do what I did to become a better player. Howard Levy’s lessons are gold, no matter what style you play...
My jaw is on the floor. Harmonica suits these tunes perfectly, gives them the same feel as a concertina. You play skillfully and beautifully, and those transitions are absolutely mind-blowing! 11/10 man, absolute wow
Actually, a basic diatonic harmonica isn't that hard to play... but to play it well, like that, or some of the great blues players? That is what is really hard.
why does it sound as an acordeon and two simultan harmonicas at the same time? absolutely beautiful, getting a harmonica soon and I'll keep getting back to this, maybe one day I'll be able to do it!
to tune a reed you remove material from the tip of the reed to raise the pitch and back towards the rivets to lower the pitch, it is tricky because you need a tuner, and then you need to let the reeds sit a while after you scrape it because the pitch will slightly change, so you scrape, test and let it sit and redo accordingly, in the case of paddy tuning you are retuning the 3 blow down a full step.
You are VERY Good, Wow!!! Great ornamentation, decorating, whatever You call it, which is extremely hard on a Harmonica and only Very few players can do this. You're a Highly gifted, keep it up!!!!!
I’ve been studying the “Blues” harmonica for a couple years…I’ve never heard this type of music played on a harmonica before. This is amazing! I’m blown away and absolutely love it! I’ve got to give it a go…looking for a tutorial…
