- Good morning folks!
For some reason, it seems mother nature does not want me to keep tomato plants alive! After last year's complete crop failure, and losing half of my plants this year to curly top, something new has infected TWO plants!
Today I am talking about various wilt diseases in tomato plants, and a fee ways to diagnose them. Specifically, I think that this last round of disease may have been cause by Bacterial Wilt. Come along with me and we try and figure out what is hurting my tomato crop in this beautiful desert garden!

It's always interesting to watch the different approaches based on geographical locations. One thing is for certain though, good gardeners will always figure it out. Great video and thanks for sharing.
😊 thanks for watching!
Yeah bummer...I hope the rest of your tomatoes do well. Good information, thanks.
You and me both! And you're welcome!
My row of tomatoes went quickly from nice and full to almost dead but the tops and some side branches are bouncing back
I've got 2 tomato plants that have wilt of some sort of fashion. They are "Green Sausage"). I have 3 plants, one is perfect the other 2 are wilted but producing flowers. I have over 30 plants and they are all nice.
I've never heard of that variety..I'll have to check it out. And wow! 30 plants is awesome!
I believe you need to test the main stem about 2” below the soil to 2” above the soil, about 4” total, not a side stem!
Thanks for the tips! I haven't had any issues this year so far but will try that next time
love this video. I have seen so many where if it wilts they just say throw it away and they don't even try and figure it out. Thank you. My tomato plant wilts at the top completely during the sun and then comes back at dusk and lower leaves are curled some. I'm not sure why they wilt during day then come back at dusk?
Tomato plants can wilt during heat or excessive sun. If it comes back every evening don't worry about it😊 just make sure it's getting a good amount of water
@@thefiresidefarm Thank you Very much.
My God protect your tomatoes from bacteria Wilton in Jesus name
Did you ever find out what was wrong with your tomatoes! Im over here dealing with the same thing!
I never did unfortunately! I just had an overall terrible year for tomatoes. And curly top virus did most of them in. But in crossing my fingers for this year!
@@thefiresidefarmyou probably should grow your tomatoes at another location if possible.
You could try growing mustard as a cover crop and then till it under green and water it. The effects are much like Vapam but produced naturally. Added benefit it won't kill the bacteria you want to remain, and it will add organic matter albeit very little carbon.
@@joeyl.rowland4153 thanks so much for the tip!
Hi there you thanks for sharing. However I saw on Suburban Appalachia TH-cam channel where he injected hydrogen peroxide in his plants and poured it around the roots and it actually helped
I will check it out thanks!
Very nice legs :)
good info too
