Hi I watched your tutorial and it is the most concise tutorial I have seen. However I have a new computer with windows 10 with 64 bit and I cannot get ezycad to work on it or lightburn, none of them work, can you help me out please. Kind regards Jen

Have you ever had a "Not Ready" buttom that shows up in the bottom center of the screen. I am a new EZCAD2 User and I am getting this after install. So I have not been able to use my laser cutter yet. Any advise? Thanks.
I have a brand new fiber and on my small test images or text only half is focused. Right half is darker and louder when marking. These are pretty small test prints so i'm not sure if its out of level inside somewhere, the workspace, or field warp adjustments. What should i check first? I marked a big test square on stainless and it looks square and oddly enough marked pretty even. But the smaller hatched images did not. I'm very confused
The first place I'd look with this issue is actually the galvo scan head. Get a level and check the scan head, then check the bed. They should match. They do NOT need to be level with the ground, just level with one another. If they are not you should be able to loosen the bolts on the scan head at the neck and adjust accordingly.
New to fiber lasers great videos I bought a used sfx50gs laser it's marked jpt my question is how can i be sure its a true jpt and not jist a sticker claiming to be will the settings allow me to change a frequency like 600kh if it's not capable thank you
JPT sources have a very specific look and the fakes are not convincing. If you send some photos in our discord server we can verify its genuine but if it has a sticker I honestly doubt it's a fake
Had an issue this morning and my computer died. Now I've plugged in a different computer but I'm getting the dreaded "Can't find dog, software will run in demo state". I seem to remember there was a driver I had to download to run Ezcad 2 with my laser. Is there a driver file available that you are aware of to get me running again? Thanks!
Hello, I recently got my 60w laser machine and I would like to know the settings to be able to cut metal plates such as gold or silver , can yoy help me
Thanks for the great info Alex. i set mine up with this video. Only problem im having is that the save parameter doesnt show on my windows, its past the screen at the bottom. iv tried scrolling, dragging and zoom but i cant get it to come up??? Any ideas?
One of the many downfalls of Ezcad is it's window sizing. You SHOULD be able to drag it out into the main work area to undock the window. If not you may need a bigger monitor (or a TV would work) to get the screen to expand enough to grab it. Super annoying. Highly recommend you look into upgrading to LightBurn, we have an entire free course on the subject. Much easier to use.
Hi there I'm using ezcad2. When I turn on the red marking, my laser starts making a square of around 70mm size. I don't know if it is something by default or not because I cannot change it. Kindly guide me. Thanks
Hello! I did settings and I got 200x200 square which is 99% perfect. The issue is when I try to put smaller square like 50x50 I get 48x48...like the machine isn't scaling properly! Do I need to do the Corefile calibration because I don't have any of the correction file loaded or there is some settings I can tweak? Thank you in advance.
Yes exactly. This video came out before our corfile corrections video so we didn't show it as a solution at the time of recording but a corfile would go a long way in correcting this issue. I highly recommend you try one out. We have a great video on it here: th-cam.com/video/llflAf0G62Q/w-d-xo.html
They lost my laser in the warehouse so they are upgrading me to an autofocus laser (and including another lens) to compensate me for lost time. Can autofocus be trusted? Do you have a lot of experience with this? Thanks.
@@LaserEverything Incidentally, the autofocus has been fine. There is an attachment to move the galvo up and down and a focus button that can simply be held down to set a new focus, like when you are changing lenses.
Just bought 3plaser 20W basic. I’m sure that what you’ve shared is going to be really helpful as I have no clue what I’m doing. Thanks for taking time for newbies like me.
Just got my fiber laser on Friday, set it today watched video and I'm having a problem ????my laser won't fire ??? Go to mark and nothing?? What do I need to check ? Drivers and fiber laser all installed and showing on my computer. I was watching the video and i was at the part where I'm trying to find out my focal point and this is where I got stuck .no marking of any kind . Please help.....I also also your site I need help
Omg!! Thank you so mucho for those tutorials, I just got my machine. I haven’t figure it out why I have a button on screen that’s says NOT READY. I haven’t been able to engrave anything!!
Not a great sign but hard to diagnose on TH-cam, check out our Discord server or Facebook group and include as many details about your setup as possible including photos and we'll try to get it figured out. Links in the description.
Great Starter video. Received my first 100W Fiber this week.. and have been lost... This was a great start. Learning LightBurn though... so will be looking thru those videos.
It has to do with giving the laser a break between lines. The manual reads, "4) Open MO delay:The MO signal gives the AP signal after the delay. If the setting is too small, it may damage the laser.." If I were you I'd set it back.
hello.. I also have a 110 mm lens, but my problem is that when I draw something, the dimension is not the same as in the drawing, it is 10 mm bigger i m using lightrburn
This video was awesome. I am running into the issue that I don't have a preview, and when trying to mark I don't get anything happening at any point of the vertical movement.
Hi.. Loving the simplicity of your tutorial. Can i ask about the Max and Min PWM on my machine. I've been told it's an "F-Tech FO-30 150 X 150". There is a plate on it with the model number DRK30F Can you advise please? :)
It has less to do with your machine model number and more to do with your laser source model number. You need to find out if it's a Raycus, Max, or JPT. If you Google that model number you should be able to figure it out.
The setup for ezcad2 and ezcad3 are virtually the same. At some point if I get a laser that runs three I'll make another video but it's really unnecessary. They're very very very similar.
I just set up my OMTech FM6969-30S fiber laser engraver. Upon loading the EZCad 2 software an alerts pop up. First that I dont have permission and now that I dont have a dongle and EZCad will run only in a demo mode. I thought I bought everything I need to starte engraving. The manual even says that this dongle is needed. I'm now waiting for the OMTech Tech support to call me back. What are my options and how to resolve?
Hi I changed my lens and I adjust the red point light as you explain in this video, so then if I mark a shape and then I light it, the red light perfectly fix the shape. However, when i don't light the shape, the pointer is not centered; in other words, if I would like to mark a circle around a point, i can't just use the red light pointer as the center of my cricle. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks and congrats for your videos, they're so helpful!!!
I have like 5 $25 ones scattered around that get abused and forgotten about and a nice pair that stays on my desk and doesn't leave. Up to you - I use both and don't often run into a situation where I NEEDED my nice one but it doesn't need to be tared as often and the batteries definitely last significantly longer.
I’m new to the laser world. I’m purchasing a laptop to run my laser. I don’t want to over buy! Putting any saved money into fiber laser. Can you recommend a laptop to run my laser
I need a little help.....have signed up for discord....how do I contact you or someone on there? Just got a new 50w fiber laser and assembled it, but too intimidated to turn it on for fear of frying me, the machine or something else. Need just a little side by side discourse.....plz
You can just post whatever questions you have in #fiber-support and we'll be there to help ya through it. They aren't that dangerous as long as you aren't licking the power supply or staring at the laser beam without goggles. Fairly safe equip. You can do it!
Hey Alex! I'm following along, and got to exciting part of getting the focal point for the first time, and got nearly all the way down and there was no marking! The laser showed the box but just nothing was marked, advise?
It's really hard to give good support on TH-cam comments, but if you want you can join our free discord server and we can try to help you out over there. Here's a link, discord.gg/eXQ48rhV
Here's an explanation video about lenses: th-cam.com/video/iAgj6T4eH80/w-d-xo.html No part of a fiber laser should be frequently damaged and need replacing. There are very few moving parts.
Nice video , I have a 60W JPT M7 MOPA with several lenses and EZCAD 3.0 just starting to learn , have you made videos using EZCAD3 suitable for my machine also?
95% of what we cover in EZCAD2 is compatible with EZCAD3. In a few cases a button might have a different label or be in a different spot but the vast majority of the settings (converted of course) and techniques will be the same. For more information on your specific machine join the discord as there are many members with your exact source. You can also support the show by joining the patreon which includes instant access to my entire fiber laser library as well as a converter to convert the settings for your 60w unit. The converter would be quite useful when watching my videos to get you close to what I'm getting on screen. Let me know if you have any other questions - link to the discord and patreon are in the description of the video.

Just got my fiber laser and already ezcad can't find dog! bummed, any ideas whats happening here. Did I buy some chinese junk? Is it the 64k operating system? Everything seams to be 32K. Very nice video, but would like this laser to work so I can learn some more from you.
Are you using windows 10/11? If so make sure you are using the LMC64 driver and not one of the others or it won't work. Machine has to be plugged into the PC and turned on in order for the software to function.
That driver seems to be hard to find. Maybe I'm not going about it the right way. Thinking about buying the software so i can get direct support. Other than relying on this company's copy. I have a 60w CO2 laser, this is the first time I went with someone not around me as a distributor. I learned my lesson, took a risk hopefully I can make this thing work.

Got my 70 watt laser running thanks to you.But where can I find the folder with the lens settings in it. I have a 220 and I want to go to 110. So I need to copy the folder but I can't find it. Thanks in advance..Ben
In the case of ezcad, you would copy/paste the existing ezcad config, and relabel it to the new lens size, and then update the field settings and import the proper library conversion for that lens size. For lightburn, can just go to the device tab, duplicate the 110 device as a 220 with a new label, and it will prompt you to update the field size if needed. For parameter settings, we have copies of those on our website to download.
Hi i need help figuring out what size lens i have. It reads on the side “ f-theta lens 1064nm f=160mm 16032091”. I also dont know what to click for the serial in the laser control for parameters. My boss said our machine is a morn 20w fiber laser. Please help.
You have a 110mm lens, please join the discord and we can help you do some investigating to find out the specs of your specific machine, link in the description!
Thank you so much. I got alot of things figured out. One question i still have. Now that i have changed setting to be correct i can hear a humming noise now when i press F1 and i cant hear it when im actually engraving or F2
This is typically specific to the laser source itself inside the machine. Among each brand there can be similar models that have different frequency ranges, so you'll either need a spec sheet/hardware list or may need to open your side panel of the machine to confirm your laser source model. From there, you can use that info to validate your frequency by using the spec sheets supplied by the manufacturer of the source. We have a lot of them linked in our resources on our website to help make that easier. You can also ask the machine manufacturer you bought it from, but if they mix parts or didn't keep track of components, you may need to use the methods we mentioned previously to have an accurate set of values.
@@LaserEverything im having issues installing the driver on my new laptop windows 11 64gig? I follow all the instructions and it comes out saying that it doesn't have the right driver. What could it be
I don't know where you would enter that in. There's no depth or thickness settings. You'll have to measure after the mark is done and adjust based on the depth you're trying to achieve.
Hi bro, is it possible to buy your support for my jpt m7 30 watt? I m now nearly one Week to trey get the right settings. But is dont work, nothing i do xD

Great Video, first timer here. I have an Omtech 50w Max Source Fiber Laser Engraver. It came with a standard F-Theta F=430 lense. During the setup video, you mentioned selecting the Source under "Fiber" and "Serial". I believe you selected JPT. I do not see a drop-down for MAX Source, it was already on IPG_YLP, but not sure that is correct or not? I was able to get the laser focused and set at the correct height. I noticed though that my Red Box and actual Mark box are significantly off...i.e. it's not aligned? Any recommendations? Thank you!!
If it's set to IPG_YLP and it's working correctly I would leave it alone. Ezcad was made before MAX sources were a thing. To fix your red box alignment check out this video: th-cam.com/video/ip08rkqw9o4/w-d-xo.html For everything else related to getting your galvo laser working as best as it can this playlist would be really helpful for you: th-cam.com/play/PLoBR3k35202YW6uCz5ESGnPbLFe9Ri2ve.html
Looked at the laser Mactron 30w fiber that you have listed from aliexpress and shipping shows ~$900.00 alone. Has this been the case the whole time or do you have any other suggestion/options.
That's just the cost of air freight. You get your laser in a week instead of three months. If you're buying from them that's the only shipping option. With the way the ports are these days you don't want your machine on a boat.
Hi! Where can I check the size of the lens my machine came with? On the lens it only says CSDQ f-theta lens 1064nm f=210mm 210C24630. I understand the focal length is 210mm but not sure what the size is. If someone could help I will highly appreciate. Thank you! * on the machine’s manual it says “processing area” is 15cmx15cm. Can I interpret this as the size of my lens? I am new in all of this :(
Hey brother, I am researching fiber laser and your channel has been very helpful in educating to this whole new world. I am going to continue watching your videos and hopefully I will be able to find me a laser that gives me and my small business good value. I will be engraving urns (that urn video you have is actually how I learned about your page) so any and all advise would be very helpful.
Wooow Man Yr teaching makes people's really educate with Yr fully passionate teaching.. my entire life I never watched more then five minutes videos. But Yr each videos even 2 hours doesn't made me to miss any of Yr word which is very informative and made me to get professional with Yr teaching.. really respect for you n soon will join ur channel.. what is patreon.. they are parameters the 1 u uploaded and all material and its clearance ot white or black can make it on the things.. well there is still so much to learn from Yr videos.. am a very much beginner in this field.. and I have bought this laser machine an year ago but doesn't know how to work with any of them.. but as Yr channel made me start working on it.. love Yr each video bro.. thanks again for everything..
The parameters are available in our project videos and streams if you convert them, and the assembled library with different wattages is available through the LMA (link in the description).
Could the 160mm focal length lens with a 110x110 marking area that was pre-installed in my equipment be replaced with a lens that would increase my marking area to 150x150? Should I be looking for a lens with the same focal length? Or, does a different marking areas necessitate a change in the focal length?
Different marking areas necessitate changing the focal length, don't try to focus on the focal length when picking a lens. Just focus on the marking area all similar sized marking areas are going to have similar focal lengths so you don't even need to worry about it just focus on the marking area and call it a day. Definitely pick up a few different lenses they're super cheap and allow you to do much more than just having one lens and relying on that. I recommend the cloudray f-theta lenses for fiber lasers. You can view them on my online buying guide: www.lasereverything.net/buyingguide Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions. -Alex
Great videos! One doubt. The parameters library are set for a specific power and lense size? I.e. Wont be the same result using the same config with different lense size. Right?
The lens should have either the lens size or approximate focal distance printed on it which we would be able to help you out with if you post a picture in the discord or Facebook group. For the laser wattage there isn't usually much you can do except open the case and inspect the laser source. Most sources typically have a sticker that lists the model number which we could then use to tell you what your laser power would be.
I like the parts they sell, as I mentioned in the video. I haven't had an entire configured laser from them yet but there's lots of people in the discord who have them and seem to think they're great.
Our entire parameter library is available to supporters over at masters.lasereverything.net/ and the included converter software can convert the library for your laser :)
Hi I just got a laser machine 160 lens with 110'110 marking area. I have been watching your video about finding the right focus, any estimate height you know for my lens? It doesn't say on the lens. It says F Theta lens = 160 mm "1064mm. Just to have a starting point ( i am new at this)
You can use lightburn exclusively, but unfortunately they do not currently have a utility to take the output, accept measurements, and properly scale and adjust the lens output (like you see with the corfile utility). so with lightburn, you have to test, and then guess the change you need to make, and test again, and repeat that process until you get the output you're happy with. If you're a perfectionist, you could spend hours doing each lens.
Thank you for such a great video. One problem I am having is I am setting up a 150x150 lens. Have all the distortion taken out and it makes nice straight lines. I made a 120x120 box while setting up everything just to make checking the straightness of the lines easier for me. Problem I have is that the box actually measures 122.5 on the x axis and 131.5 on the y axis. I know it has something to do with the scaling settings in the configuration. But every time I've tried to correct this things go south, can never get it to be a perfect square. Negate is NOT checked on either galvo. If I go into the scaling drop down menu and enter the desired marking and actual marking settings for galvo 1. Then do the same thing for galvo 2. The parameters that I enter in galvo 1 are overwritten by what I enter in galvo 2. What the hell am I doing wrong?
Well the first thing I'd say is that you want to be making your scale adjustments FIRST and your warp adjustments second. Adjusting your scale after setting your warp adjustments is always going to mess with your warp. Get the scale as close as you can, then the warp, then scale, then warp again. You'll have a more accurate finished product. As far as the overwriting issues go it's really hard for me to tell without looking at it. Feel free to post a few screenshots or a short screen capture to the discord and I'd be happy to take a look for you. There's a link in the description and we can get that sorted. Not a great answer but hope it helps a little!

Hi there
I'm using ezcad2. When I turn on the red marking, my laser starts making a square of around 70mm size. I don't know if it is something by default or not because I cannot change it.
Kindly guide me.
Thanks

Csn you guys make a video about best place to attach a camera to a fiber laser for use with lightburn?
I'm working on one right now :)
Thanks.
Personally, I'm not a fan. Usually only works with one lens as well.
@@LaserEverything Thanks. I guess I'll see how it goes.
@@LaserEverything Incidentally, the autofocus has been fine. There is an attachment to move the galvo up and down and a focus button that can simply be held down to set a new focus, like when you are changing lenses.

Hey, what about setting up a lens with a handheld fiber laser? How does one get the beam-path/focal-length cage? 🤔
I'd assume you'd have to find someone who can 3D model and machine or 3D print one for you. Can't really seem to find them online.

Hi, I didn't write down the millimeters the first time I focused the red dots, is there a way to do it again?
I would use the sound/brightness test to determine the focal length and remeasure, that's the only way.
Great Starter video.
Received my first 100W Fiber this week.. and have been lost... This was a great start. Learning LightBurn though... so will be looking thru those videos.
In laser control what is Open MO delay? mine was set to 8 but I cahnged to zero now machine works fast
It has to do with giving the laser a break between lines. The manual reads, "4) Open MO delay:The MO signal gives the AP signal after the delay. If the setting is too small, it may damage the laser.." If I were you I'd set it back.
@@LaserEverything Thanks, but I have been using laser marking for more than 1 year. I have not faced any issues till now

hello.. I also have a 110 mm lens, but my problem is that when I draw something, the dimension is not the same as in the drawing, it is 10 mm bigger i m using lightrburn
what kind of power does your fiber laser require at home? is it just your normal house plug?
Yes, a few machines out there use 220v but the vast majority of them simply plug into a 110v US outlet.
There is a plate on it with the model number DRK30F
Can you advise please? :)
It has less to do with your machine model number and more to do with your laser source model number. You need to find out if it's a Raycus, Max, or JPT. If you Google that model number you should be able to figure it out.
Are you going to do another video using EZCAD3 for lens change?
The setup for ezcad2 and ezcad3 are virtually the same. At some point if I get a laser that runs three I'll make another video but it's really unnecessary. They're very very very similar.
Where do you get those little light stands? Looks like you have 3 of them set up.

It can, but these days we recommend LightBurn, search for our "LightBurn Crash Course for Galvo"
F3 Param on the first page it says "Go to pos. after Mark", that's where the red dot returns too after it's completed all marking and framing.
When focusing my fiber laser should I subtract the thickness of the scrap material I am using?
No you want from the surface of the material to the bottom of the lens.
How accurate do the calipers need to be? $25 pair or $250?
I have like 5 $25 ones scattered around that get abused and forgotten about and a nice pair that stays on my desk and doesn't leave. Up to you - I use both and don't often run into a situation where I NEEDED my nice one but it doesn't need to be tared as often and the batteries definitely last significantly longer.

Thank you so much. I got alot of things figured out. One question i still have. Now that i have changed setting to be correct i can hear a humming noise now when i press F1 and i cant hear it when im actually engraving or F2
Great video, I have a question. how to know my machine PWM?
Thank you so much
Will focal point position change depending on thickness of item you are engraving on?
The deeper you engrave the further the point of impact will be from the lens so yeah, eventually you'll have to down focus.

Great Video, first timer here. I have an Omtech 50w Max Source Fiber Laser Engraver. It came with a standard F-Theta F=430 lense. During the setup video, you mentioned selecting the Source under "Fiber" and "Serial". I believe you selected JPT. I noticed though that my Red Box and actual Mark box are significantly off...i.e. it's not aligned? Any recommendations? Thank you!!

Hi dear friend, I need the parameter library for a 50W Fiber laser. Could you help me? Thanks in advance
The parameters are available in our project videos and streams if you convert them, and the assembled library with different wattages is available through the LMA (link in the description).
Hello, can you tell me where to find the parameters folder for ezcad2 please?
When you open the ezcad2 folder, there should be a folder labelled "PARAM". It should be the only, or one of two files in that folder.
You can view them on my online buying guide:
www.lasereverything.net/buyingguide

Library includes a converter for wattage and lens size.
@@LaserEverything Hi, I got the old fiber laser from my friend. How can I know what size of the lens and power of this laser? Thank you so much
The lens should have either the lens size or approximate focal distance printed on it which we would be able to help you out with if you post a picture in the discord or Facebook group. For the laser wattage there isn't usually much you can do except open the case and inspect the laser source. Most sources typically have a sticker that lists the model number which we could then use to tell you what your laser power would be.

@@LaserEverything THANKS!
Yep 😁
Is it a must to use easy cad or can you use lightburn exclusively?
