My dad passed in 2000, a lot of years have passed and I am now older. The loss never goes away I still miss him especially when doing mechanical things. Watching this video really brings up those memories of doing rebuilds on my motorcycle engines and a few car engines that we did together.

Glad you are bringing it back to life, it seems to be a solid machine! With equipment prices this is still a valuable machine. Your findings on the cavitation sparked my memory with some low hour state forest fire suppression John Deere 750 dozers that I did in chassis overhauls because of this issue. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!

I was an aviation mech, for the Navy and we did not touch a project without the book in hand. It is forbidden to work from memory. The community as a whole revives so many safety changes throughout the years, what you remember from the last evolution of what you are working on is probably not the same, and the level of accountability involved is absolutely unnerving at times. With prison time absolutely possible if something fails and you did not follow the publication with the most up-to-date changes, the only thing that is more unnerving than not using the correct publication is being responsible for the publications and keeping the changes current todate. This was my secondary responsibility. So to see you referring to the publication/book is refreshing and shows an extremely high leave of profecializem. Props!

You guys really made me laugh, when you were applying the never seize. The one thing I learned early on, was that never seize "grows". No matter how hard you try, it ends up everywhere! Usually where you don't want it. Loved the video. Never saw a rebuild like you did on this engine. From removal through tear down to reassembly. Looking forward to the next video.

Surprised that you didn’t remove new pistons from new sleeves to verify stagger of ring gaps and ensure no broken rings. Relying on factory assembly is fine but if problems surface after engine assembly a few minutes now might be good insurance.

Somewhere on an earlier youtube video, someone posted that if you click more than once with a torque wrench you will over-torque your item, I don't know where they came up with that idea, but I always double click when torquing.

It's been extremely informative to watch you work on your projects, your verbal delivery is matter of fact, which is refreshing, back in 1968 I had the chance to work in my school holidays at JJ Motors here in Gore NZ my uncle was a diesel mechanic,it was very interesting work and I liked the smell of diesel ,now the only problem was it being winter and we would be called out to the farms to service Massey Ferguson tractor's etc, freezing temperatures and I hate snow and ice ,so unfortunately my diesel days came to an end and I opted for an apprenticeship in Refrigeration, still out doors but inside for the most of the time, looking forward to more of your videos ,thanks again.

The moment you said you were going to rebuild the water pump, I wondered how that was going to go! If you don't break the housing and the impeller survives and fan hub comes off in one piece, only then you might be able to rebuild it. Water pumps always seem to resist repair. Great video on the rebuild!
