I am a 23 year old female, with little stress about hairfall.
My hair thickness has reduced to half of what it was in 2
years, I had colored my hair 7 months back. I am eating a
healthy diet from almost 2 months now. I do proper hair
oiling and wash with parabens and sulphate free
shampoos. My blood test is normal with ferritin levels on
borderline. I am consuming B12-Ferritin syrup from past
2 weeks. Every time I touch my hair I have around 20
strands in hand, pillow cases and everywhere makes
upto around 300 approximately hair fallen throughout the
day without any hairwash. I am really worried about it. I
have thin strands of hair type No history of thyroid in
family. What could possibly be the cause?

Any advice about what might be in this case: In 2020 i had very long hair, everything was fine but then i got covid like 5 times through the year. I've started noticing that hair started falling out really fast,(shower drainages were clogged after each shower i took) in the end, within 5 month i lost 50-60% of my hair on top of head(sides are fine). I cut my hair to bald head been doing short haircuts since then. Top of head is still very thin by this day, the hair hasn't recovered at all and it didn't get worse also. Lot of experts say that it's a Telogen Effluvium due to Covid, quite common thing it was, but they also said that hair recovers back within usually 6 month, For me it's been around 4 years and it didn't. It might also be androgen alopecia but the thing is, hair fell out during covid and it fell out very rapidly, like i said before within only 5 month i've lost like 60% and everyday as i was brushing my hair, the brush was full of hair ,unlike androgen alopecia that takes years. Yet, if it's Telogen Effluvium , then how come hair not recovering for 4 years?

Hello, if you do have both MPB and TE and start taking finasteride.. will finasteride make the TE part worse or it can be beneficial?

    • @ThatsMrFrank
      @ThatsMrFrank ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hi there. fin shouldn't affect TE because TE hair loss isn't caused by DHT. It could, rules like to be broken, and these interactions are complex. But in general, TE is when a stressor essentially skips follicles into a sleep phase so they shed their hair, and fin works on gradual balding in which WHEN HAIRS SHED, they come back shorter and thinner.
It is likely that your TE will continue and then resolve on its own, and your fin will then have the protecting effect against DHT related balding. But hairs that fall from TE will fall anyway: they have already been separated.

@@rahatpayer3825 Hi, thanks for your message and I am sorry to hear that. But I am sure you will recover from it. ;) In my opinion stress is very important to completely reduce. Secondly you can use an ''activator'' like minoxidil topical 5% everyday once. I use minoxidil to just regrow my hairs, and after I have full density I will stop using it.
Normally you can't really stop if you have hairloss due to DHT (like male pattern baldness), but if you have telogen effluvium its not due to DHT, but due to stress in example. So I would suggest to use minoxidil to activate all hair follicles on your scalp, and eventually you can stop using it. You can also ask your doctor which I did, and my derma told me I can stop once my density is back :) I already have a pretty nice thick density of hairs back. I guess I need an another 2/3 weeks to fully regrow all hairs. :)

My hair is thin all over but especially on top. No substantial receding. If I had this, is a hair transplant still possible?

I would try minoxidil and finasteride both to regain your hair. It has helped me tremendously.

@@regaldonneys876 Thanks, but I have tried dutasteride and minoxidil for 3 years with no effect. I think they probably are more likely to be effective with regular male pattern balding than the telogen effluvium as described in this video.

@@jasongomez5344 The medications help maintain the hair that is already there and make them thicker. It won’t regrow what is already gone, maybe that is the issue.
