This song is about drug addiction and how it ends controlling your life until you are done. The instrumental side of the song is divided in three mayor sections, the first one from start until before the solo, is about the urgency and anxiety of getting drugged, the middle part with the solo and armonic stuff is the extasis after you have consumed your dose, the last part after the first solo when it gets to the second one represents the desperation of the effects ending and returning to reality with anger and anxiety.

This is Metallica at their absolute peak. Their arrangements and compositional skills were influenced very heavily by the bassist’s love of classical music. If you imagine the guitars being replaced by the string section of an orchestra, the classical music vibe will jump through the speakers at you. Absolutely genius album. RIP to the great Cliff Burton, the band has never been the same without your influence on the bass and in the writing room.
Metallica's album Master Of Puppets is the first heavy metal recording chosen for preservation by the Library of Congress due to its historical importance.
Welcome to the Metallica journey! Master of Puppets is about addiction. Lead singer James Hetfield: “deals pretty much with drugs. How things get switched around, instead of you controlling what you're taking and doing its drugs controlling you." It's worth to listen for the lyrics again with this context. Some powerful stuff. As for requests, anything from Master of Puppets album (Disposable Heroes, Welcome Home Sanitarium). You can't go wrong, it's a masterpiece and viewers will subscribe and come back. You have opened the door to the Metallica Army. Best of luck in your reactions!
Most metal music songs are longer than the standard pop type songs. However metallica is known for long songs and long intros. The album master of muppets is the first metal album placed in the library of congress for its musical and cultural impact. The entire album is spectacular from start to finish. And yes they play these long songs live. They are known for their live shows. I’ve seen them many times live and it’s better than a recording always.
One of Metallica's best songs, in my opinion, is Creeping Death. The live version/video of them in Moscow back in 1991 is amazing. You can't help but get pumped and be mind blown by to crowd of more than 1.6 million fans! A must see!
The lyrics are pretty easy to catch. And, "Chop your breakfast on a mirror," is a dead giveaway. You two probably just didn't know to look, because most people think metal is just noise. The hidden gem is how they used the instruments to mimic the ups and downs of addiction. Once you know this, and you can imagine each part as a separate phase of the addict's experience, you'll have a whole new appreciation of the song. And, you'll be able to feel the lead singer's pain.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but when the music switches to a more dreamlike state is basically representing the high and euphoria felt from the drug.
This song is split into three parts. The beginning is the craving for the drug. The melodic piece is the high and the build up to the end is the return of the cravings. The song was written to mimic addiction, and the lyrics represent that as well I’ve been Metallica fan since they arrived on the scene 40 years ago.
Welcome to the world of Metallica. I first saw them on the Master of Puppet tour in 1986 (Opening for Ozzy). The next day I went out and bought all of their cassettes--yeah I'm old. I've seen every tour since. If they come to your city on this next tour, do yourself a favor and go to the show. It's a lot of fun.
That’s why metal songs are so long, it’s about the instrumentation. So much of metal is not even about the vocals it’s about the bad ass, riffs and good musicianship.
Definitely do creeping death live in Moscow 1991. There was 1.6 million people. The song is about the angel of death (plague) from the Bible, from the plagues perspective. Their songs are usually pretty deep.
Heavy metal songs are normally longer than the 2 minute songs that you get from other genres. Rime of the ancient mariner from Iron Maiden, for example, is about 13 minutes long. Which is based on the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, writtem in 1798. I think that was their longest track, until very recently. You should really also react to some Iron Maiden, most people start off with their song Hallowed be thy name. Which is about an inmate on Death Row. Most of Iron Maidens' tracks are like history lessons as well, which is cool.
Well it all depends really! There are some bands that do short 3 minute songs, and others that do 15 minute ones! Metal is easily one of the best genres for its diversity
@@REAPERx600 Dopesmoker by Sleep is 63 minutes, Bell Reaper by Bell Witch is 83 minutes and The Descent of Man by Sabazius a whopping 11 hours and 17 minutes. Though how much Sabazius can still be considered metal is debatable. (Though Mirror Reaper is definitely some variation of Doom Metal)
I think one of the best old heavy metal bands is iron maiden. The first heavy metal album I ever bought back in the early 80s was iron maiden number of the beast. They are a great band if you want excellent guitar, good, hard drums, and a fantastic vocalist. I Iron Maiden is a lot like Metallica, their best stuff was all in the 80s.
i remember working the pits at the 2008 KROQ Weenie Roast when Metallica was the headliner and and when they hit this song we were pulling ppl out left and right canuse of the rush to the front.

Find something, anything, they did with the San Franciso Symphony as accompaniment. You'll be amazed at how well heavy metal works with a classical orchestra.
The Master of puppets of the drugs or whatever addiction that you have it pulls your strings. Kind of like a line chop your breakfast on a mirror is referring to cocaine. And then the middle guitar break is you getting your fix. And then the come down is when the music picks back up again
The quiet part is when the drug addict gets his fix and feels better for a bit. Then the music slowly builds and builds as the drug addect gets more and more desperate. He gets so strung out that he starts asking the drugs he's addicted to why things didn't turn out as great as he thought/was promised they would. Finally it gets so bad that he yells "FIX ME!" as he needs a fix BAD. The drug/master just goes on to tell him how he's screwed and it actually laughs in his face at the end of the song. This is the perfect anti-drug addiction control song. Metallica rules!
I've invented a new game. Search for metallica Master of Puppets reaction videos on TH-cam. Then before it starts try to guess which people have snorted cocaine. Place a bet on each person in the video. Then press play. You will know it immediately when the lyrics "chop your breakfast on a mirror" comes up in the video. Their reaction to those lyrics will be obvious. Plus you get to listen to Master of Puppets over and over again.

Just discovered you guys. Been enjoying watching you. My only complaint is the sound of the music you are listening to almost sounds like we are listening to it through a cardboard wrapping paper tube. It has a weird hollow effect.
This is today's list pop music brain in a nutshell: an 8 and a half minute long song is crazy. Really? 8 minutes..? A sitcom episode lasts three times as long as that. Most people cant finish a small meal in that time. Never mind the fact that the usual music the radio feeds you with is some soulless, heartless, mass produced shit with no meaningful lyrical or musical content. Made to sell. For profit. Machine-like. In fact, AI is probably already creating music just as good (or rather bad). It's quite obvious what the lyrics are about. I'm surprised you didn't catch that earlier. I mean "Chop your breakfast on a mirror", "Taste me you will see, more is all you need".. etc.

Just discovered you guys. Been enjoying watching you. My only complaint is the sound of the music you are listening to almost sounds like we are listening to it through a cardboard wrapping paper tube. It has a weird hollow effect.
also they have new album out in april.
I mean "Chop your breakfast on a mirror", "Taste me you will see, more is all you need".. etc.
