No, no! Takara Tomy's Lazerbeak is obviously more cartoon accurate. Do you not see how much closer the beak size is to the cartoon model? Moreover, the Robot Paradise version lacks some red colour and has too much grey in the wing tips. That point should have gone to the Takara Tomy - and that _does_ affect the overall scoring.

Great review and comparisons! I think overall, Robot Paradise/Fans Toys is knocking this whole set out of the park. I really like my Acoustic Wave myself. I have MMC casseticons to fill in as replacements for robot paradise though. I think they represent better, plus I like their scale to Sound Wave more.
Great comparisons! I am especially thrilled about how good the Corvus and Shadow look compared to earlier reviews I've seen of this set. I like that the scaling is slightly larger than the MP one so it's perfect for my scaling preference. Especially when seeing that Shadow is closer to the G1 toy in size. I'm not sure why the MP did all that crazy transformation just to have a smaller, skinnier and more unsightly looking jaguar mode.
I actually don't mind the thinness of the front legs of Shadow, though I would have liked some more articulation on the shoulder area. Corvus though, I thought he'd have a side to side motion on the neck. Promo pics I've been looking at it and thought for sure there was an articulation point there, but guess not. But I do love how much more cartoon accurate he looks. I am so used to seeing MP Laserbeak's mold that I thought it was supposed to look like that (it's close!) but the wing shape, the coloring, and the body/missiles are more accurate on RP.
This review has made me more confident that I'll like this set. I already know what to expect with FIRRIB so I know I'll like him as well.
There is a side to side on the head, but not the neck
RP is better than takara, but neither are very good. They did a great job on soundwave, but these...not so much. Hoping takara does them right with the eventual 2.0
Hey man, Merry Christmas to you and your family. I agree with you on this comparison, I haven’t gone in on the RP tapes as I prefer the MMC scale for ravage, frenzy and rumble, and I’ll stick with Takara Lazerbeak. What I prefer on the RP lazerbeak is the wingspan and joint articulation of the wingspan and maybe the slightly more pronounced head otherwise Takara is more than sufficient.

to be honest first thing i thought of when i had transformed MP Ravage was that he looked like a cat turd with legs

Outside of ravage the cassette set honestly look like just a side grade. And the cassettes themselves are worse than the Takara cassette modes.

no they're not, takara's where more expensive, and they where bought individually, this is actually a deal
Takara was $60 for a set of 2 in US retail, RP is $120 for a set of 3, seems TT is cheaper but hard to compare when packaged differently
They're also better looking figures, though. So have to consider that. Only the MP condors were comparatively on par aesthetically to the newer ones. Their Rumble/Frenzy and Ravage are lacking. I'd rather have paid $120 for this set back in 2013 rather than the two separate sets of the TT MP cassettes.

I think the Takara Tomy tape-modes look much better than the Robot Paradise ones - much more cohesive and less obvious animal-mode parts.
Shadow looks a lot more cartoon accurate, and there's several areas I like much better - the head, neck and rear legs. I'm really not a fan of how thin the missiles are, and the lack of ourward movement in the front legs. I don't mind the look of the TT Jaguar mode, even though it's not a cartoon-style.
I think the Takara Tomy Laserbeak nails the look, and it's only the articulation that holds it back. If its wings rotated, I'd say it's no contest.
