- In depth review of the ProMag Saiga 12 magazines for use in the Kalashnikov USA KS12T.
I'm seriously considering doing a magwell mod on the KS12, if that sounds like a tutorial/review you'd like to see then let me know in the comments!

good video, good to know everyone is having issues with the KUSA mags and not just me.

Very well presented and articulated!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I appreciate that!
Thanks for doing the Lord's work.
Important cleaning & longevity note: The barrel is *_not chromed lined_* on the KS-12 like foreign AK rifles & shotguns.
Where are you getting this from? The manual for this gun says nothing like that and any search of the specs shows 18" chrome-lined barrel. Also, you can visibly see a chrome lined bore and chamber while cleaning.

I had the KUSA mags in and they're a major chore to have lock in on my Saiga with a closed bolt. (Mine is also modded). It got to the point where I had to download to 9 rounds.
SGM magazines (their front and rear tabs on mine are much beefier) work very well and require very little effort in comparison.
I do want to pick up some of the Promags though dunno. Probably pony up and get the CSSpec mags.
I've had a couple of people tell me SGM has improved. If I can find them for a decent price I'll grab a couple and give them another shot. If you can stomach paying a hefty premium for a magazine then CSSpecs definitely won't disappoint. Honestly, if you can still get a good deal on them the ProMags won't either. Thanks for the comment!
I'd be looking to get rid or return my KUSA mags and stomach up to buy the CSSpec mags. This point, I'd rather buy once and cry once. Let me know how that stuff from Russia works out by the way.
Will do. I actually just got the muzzle brake, so hopefully the optics rail will show up in the next few days.
Yeah my 12rd sgm mag..won't feed a shell into the chamber it bends up the top of the shell..I notice the kusa mags ..the shell is canted up more so it feeds easier, but the 10rd kusa has some wiggle to it. I bought the 25rd sgm drum and now I'm regretting that
You can fix that sgm mag and make make it reliable look up a few videos
SGM mags all day
They must've improved in quality over the last few of years. I had two and they had thin plastic feed lips, weak catches and never fed right.
@@TheMetalheadHomestead ill give pro mags a shot
I saw another review where the 3in shells were breaking the mag with the KUSA mags also how are the plastic pins that hold the stock in place doing, I just ordered one and thinking of canceling or just getting a better stock and the more pricey Mag you mentioned. It's got to be better than the JS
So far the stock (and everything else) is holding up well. I must admit I am not a fan of it though, it feels really cheap.
I've heard of issues with the kusa mags, so I may just have to throw a few boxes of magnum slugs through them this weekend to find out. I feel confident that the ProMags could handle it and know for a fact Csspec's can.
The Metalhead Homestead
KS-12TSFS I'm thinking of switching to this stock instead although I prefer black to green, I'll drop the link to the video that caused my concern although, I paid then thought about these things!

Hey where is made I know it's called lash usa but is actually made here or comes from the same factory as the lynx 12
Florida I believe.
Lynx come from China.
Kalashnikov USA is in Florida, USA.
Wow wow wow what was that at the end a 308?????
Vepr 7.62x54r
I bought a KS 12 and ProMag Saiga 12 magazines. The ProMag fit in, but I can't lock it in the gun
Is it the rear of the mag that won't lock in? I've seen in other magazines where you have to file just a slight amount off to lock them in. This guy shows the issue and the fix pretty well th-cam.com/video/8B_XNzka15I/w-d-xo.html
Unfortunately that is the crappy part about all the variations of AK's, sometimes a little "fitting" is required. Good luck, hope this helps.
Ok I am reading all the comments. Can someone who is knowledgeable about these damn mags hopefully help me out here?
What mags should I go with if I were to buy this gun. P mags, ccs mags, Sgm mags, kusa that already comes with it, or god knows what. I mean, everyone’s got a story, so what’s the bottom line?
Csspecs are the top of line in quality and price. I personally do not have them for the KS12, but do for the Vepr 12 and the only downside is that occasionally they need a little filing to fit perfect. I have had really good luck with these Promags, but it would seem I'm in the minority. So I'd say to buy these if you find them for a low price. SGMs are pretty good. They've really improved their quality control over the years, and are usually easier to find in stock than the other brands. The KUSA mags are my least favorite. Mine still works fine but it is bulky, the locking lugs are tiny, and it always wants to hang up when trying to do tacticool reloads.
@@TheMetalheadHomestead thanks. They’re selling this gun at a local store and I was on the fence since I needed to know more about the mag issues, and come to think of it, problems with the stock breaking with the heavier duty shells. Too much to figure out in advance.
But again thanks
Do the pro mag 20 rd drums do well?
Bought two pro mags after this video, complete garbage, the follower gets stuck in the magazine with bo rounds in it, I have to file both of them down on the inside to get them to function properly, for the price they should function out of the box
Damn man, sorry to hear that. Guess I got lucky, mine have been great but a few people have said they've had some more serious issues.
@@TheMetalheadHomestead I did buy some CSSpec mags though because of this video too lol, I wanted to buy them first but they were out of stock, came in on Monday and they seem much much better
Awesome, you surely won't be disappointed with those! I know if they didn't cost so much I'd replace all of my 12ga mags with Csspecs.
