I recently made a commitment to myself to relearn a few songs and learn the correct way to play them. I knew exactly where to go. Your attention to detail and your ability to break a song down into minutiae, then present that information in a comprehendible manner makes you the best guitar instructor on TH-cam. Thank you so much for your massive effort in producing these videos, and your equally massive generosity in posting them on TH-cam! You literally rock in so many ways!
Same when I first started playing id learn these songs then a year later when I come back to work on them I realize that I've been playing them wrong lmao
I have been playing wish you were here and jamming with people for years. Never seen it broken down and played with such clarity and patience in a tutorial. Hats off to you. Look forward to more of your work
If I ever want to make sure I'm learning something right, this is the teacher I check, bc he's got it correctly every time. Must take lots of love and energy. Thanks!
This was the first song I learned on guitar when I was 18 years old, by just listening to the record. I'm now 61, and have just realised I've been playing it wrong for 43 years. I love your methodical tuition and your teaching style. Thank you 🙂
Your lessons catch virtually every nuance of the original playing/recordings I've been obsessing on for years, detail you just rarely hear played accurately (?) much less taught ! ... For those of us who obsess over these musical things...its awesome to find another. You have a stupid good ear, and your attn. to detail is on point. You hear and reproduce every thing I've heard since i was a kid. (for many of these songs ). All those years as a hack noodler, dreaming of being able to SEE what they were doing here, and there,....how WAS that bit actually played, ? I keep finding new songs to learn. and many of them aren't THAT difficult once you see how it can be done with these lessons. .... i'm still a self taught hack, pretending I can play for 35 years or more, I know enough to be able to learn and play many of these songs with a bit of focused work and determination,... Learning new songs is work but alot of fun. Playing them "correctly" ,...like you hear them in your head just makes me super fukin' happy. Surprising yr friends or family with a nice rendition of a great song, played well.... Priceless. Thanks again.
I wanted to tell you that I really appreciate and enjoy your lessons and the reverence you show to these songs. You are my go to when it comes to learning a song. I also appreciate the ambience of black backdrop to help focus on exactly what you're here to do, teach songs on guitar. Keep rockin and keep smilin
I really appreciate the technical detail you put into these lessons. The way you teach is exactly how I learn best. Also, those demo tracks are SUPER helpful. Good vibes, brother!
I may of pre judged this lesson as I am a beginner and felt this a little to in depth...but after reading some comments left and subscribing to your channel and watching a few other lessons I may have been a little hasty. I can play this intro and song, actually I vowed not to stop learning to play the guitar until I could and thankfully I’m still playing today, learning and growing and loving the guitar... so I might not be quite ready just yet and their are lots of beginner lessons out there, but I will definitely be calling in on your tutorials and hopefully improving daily..... so thank you another great guitarist to follow and learn from, even though I’m not quite there yet, but I still play a pretty mean Wish U were here.... keeps my daughter entertained 👍👏👏
This tutorial is dead on. Others for this tune have the strumming patterns wrong and it doesn't sound quite right. It rattled around in my head every time I played it. It was maddening for sure. Then I found this one and boom. It is definitely a feel song for sure.
After picking up my guitar after a few years of hiatus, and trying to find the right tutorial for some of my favorites songs. This is it, thank you for the excellent break down and the repetative segments to let me get the fingering down pat. Look forward to practice along side for the rest. THANKS!!!
I just discovered a couple of your videos, and I wanted to pay you a complement on them. I, like you, would like the song I’m learning to sound close to the actual song as it was recorded. I am a new player, so Wish You Were Here might have to wait, but your lesson of Over the Hills I am very happy with! I’m trying to learn this song, and your version is very good. I would rather take the slightly more difficult “road” if it gets me closer to where I want to go. Thanks for posting, and I will definitely check out more of your videos!
Thanks a lot for the tutorial, trying to break some old habits with the way I was strumming it and believe me it's not easy when you been playing it wrong for a while.
Kind of funny I'm born and raised Nashvillian, rarely do I use Nashville tuning. And the greats rarely do anything exactly the same, they gotta keep us hopping. Thanks Andy
I thought I was strumming It right but was blaming the bad sound on my guitar. Now Its like I have a new guitar.LoL..Thanks for the In depth detail that I've needed. You are better than anyone else I've tried learning from on you tube..Thank you more than you know.
Such well laid out and thoughtful tutorials, the way you highlight the guitar with your lighting and backdrop (black shirt ) let alone the guitar mastery, excellent brother! I don't see many with the care and craft you've achieved (including myself!) THANK YOU!!!!!
hi just found this-had already learned this thru many other lessons, but this was by far the most accurate, especially the strumming patterns, which are tricky at first, but sound awesome once learned-this is one of my fav all time songs by my fav guitarist and band and i know what it should sound like, and ive learned it wrong-so now i am unlearning and learning this way! thank you you are awesome and love your lessons, but i am a beginner so sometimes your lessons are too hard for me , but this one i am determined to learn! thank u more pf please
Thought I could play it. But WOW, I just learned I was so wrong. Aim for perfection and this is damn close. Thanks loads. I got some work to do on this now. Very Good Lesson
Thank you so very much.Another teacher had me strumming,Down Down Up Up down up down up down up up.LoL.Ive been playing, wish I could play.LoL.Thanks so much.
Your pick work is really impressive as far as accuracy and tone. I play my 6 string like a 12 string. I hit so many unwanted strings it sounds like a 12 string.
In a long time I have been a guitar player and in that time there was no u tube but when I saw youre lesson you make me wish to start again and again youre lessons is amazing but I wish from u to make a lesson for solo for a song like eagls and pink floud and all the old songs
so basically i can play the rhythm part as i like...because everyone upload is own version...thanks for uploading this even if i know i won t be able to play it as you teach...it s harder than it looks

All these years I thought I was probably wrong and wvery one else jyst naturally had it right. Nice to know every one else was probably wrong - as was I.
This is the most magnificently accurate breakdown of the ever-elusive Wish You Were Here into yet! I purchased your tabs, and noticed that there is a slight variance between your tabs and your instructions in this video; should I follow your tabs, or this video?
Thank you as always, Andy! A plea and request: Another Brick in the Wall (both Parts 1 and 2, and including David's iconic solo on Part 2) would be so amazing, coming from you. None of the lessons I can find on TH-cam are quite getting it right, and you are such a stickler for getting it right. I've tried to learn that song literally for years now (mostly from a Lick Library DVD, but even that one just doesn't do it properly. Thank you in advance for considering it!
I'd love to see your version of a tab on this. I tend to play better with the tab to follow. I have the official tab and it just doesn't have the right strum feel to it.
Another great video, as usual! I also have a Taylor 214ce DLX, which I love. Do you always mike the guitar, even for the performance demos, or do you plug in sometimes? You always capture a great acoustic tone. I was hoping you could share if you are doing anything special. Thanks!!
I own a Taylor 416CE, love the sound of your Taylor and after watching you play for a while now and it seems as though yours might be easier to play than mine. Thus the question, did you have this guitar setup by someone or it is still a factory setup or perhaps as talented as you are you did it yourself? Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
I truely appreciate the work in all your vids, but in this one I dont' hear the strum that you do on the dd \u on the first 3 strings & the d string, to me it makes the whole song arrangement , not that it musically does not work, its just different & sounds very well, just my opinion, I really like your teaching & go to the vids when I want something " not for note/detailed, thank you for sharing your skill with other players that have the same passion, all the best,Jay.
Hallo! Thanks for the Video! I've downloaded the tab from Musicnotes, do you think there might be some difference from what you play on the video and the TAB or it's 100% the same? maybe I'm just too bad at it...
I recently made a commitment to myself to relearn a few songs and learn the correct way to play them. I knew exactly where to go. your acoustic tutorials: strumming/techniques are the most respectful and accurate to the record I have found on youtube
Still a shit teacher

The greatest guitar teacher/tutorials ever, by far....I honest to God wish you could cover every song I ever wanted to learn
Just saw david gilmour at msg in new york. He played this, it was one of the best moments of my life. Thanks for the lesson!
I saw him last year in London - same reaction!!
The place to learn songs....and solos. After 25 yrs of playing it's time to learn it right.Thank you man.
Excellent point about not keeping the hand stationary! Move it, feel the rhythm. Gilmour is one of favorite rock guitarists, you play it perfect.
I wanted to tell you that I really appreciate and enjoy your lessons and the reverence you show to these songs. You are my go to when it comes to learning a song. Been playing this song for forty years and always knew I did not have the strumming down - finally I have it nailed thanks to this lesson.
Your lesson is simply peerless. Certainly I have found the best teacher. You have just helped me out of mist. Thank you indeed.
God is in the details..
thank you for this amazing tutorial!
Such a great classic. I always so appreciate how you break things down into bite size chunks. I’m a big fan.
You are the best teacher on the world...your fingers are sacred...thanks Sir.
I really appreciate the technical detail you put into these lessons. The way you teach is exactly how I learn best. Also, those demo tracks are SUPER helpful. Good vibes, brother!

Im relearning the entire tune - the right way! As usual another impeccable lesson. Best teacher on the www.
Your lessons are by far the best on TH-cam. Thanks for the great work!
this channel has the best lessons of the best songs!
Sir your speed of string operating is very good timing for US.we understand clearly which spring is pressed.. Very very nice teaching.🙏
Definitely appreciate the extra focus on the correct strum pattern as I, like so many before me, have been playing this tune slightly wrong for years.
never play them right but i can get close and we always ad our own style to most covers. This is very acurate thanks much .peace and love
Somehow I manage to hit all 8 strings on my 6 string guitar.
LOL. I thought I was the only one who did that. That’s a good one

You should do a lesson on the licks from my old school by steely dan
Excellent instruction.
What brand guitar do you have? Sounds so good. Thanks for the lessons! I've learned a lot from you. Thank you!

Great , tops again as always
i am just starting to learn guitar and I am having trouble with the C major. Do you use your pinky for the A string? This video is awesome.
Are you recording the sound of the guitar with a mic or with the pick up? It sounds very good.
